Thats unfortunate Hann, was there something specific that's holding you back? there was an error in the initial posting. I hadn't' accounted for what days Talia's ship would be active. Perhaps that may fall better with your scheduling?

I find this thread very interesting... May I ask some additional questions for clarity?
Requirements: 1) Has previous Game Master Experience from a creditable RP Community. Q: What would count as a creditable RP Community? Does it need to be online RP, or would table-top RP count? Do you have examples you could share of how this requirement has been met by others in the past?
2) Must have excellent communication skills. 3) Must have exquisite multi-task. 4) Must be able to maintain and eight characters in a chat window. 5) Must be follow up with players on all questions and make good judgment calls. Q: Req's 2-5 seem to be less subjective than Req 1 (e.g. Once could demonstrate through an evaluation Req 2-5, whereas Req 1 seems to be more of a judgement call). Does the Fleet maintain an evaluation process where a GM applicant could demonstrate these skills? E.g. Could one be a probationary GM?
6) Must be knowledgeable with the UGC Tools. Q: This is obviously a recent requirement given that UGC is recent. Is there a way to meet this requirement at present time? E.g. If I said, "Log into Tribble and play 'Bad Times in the Badlands'" Would that allow one to see my grasp of UGC?
<snipped various quotes re: Timing of events>
My reason for asking these questions, is because I find the RP environment here very compelling, and I'd like to contribute to it. I can fully understand that it is important for a ship's GM to posess various qualities, however, your requirements read like a job description or some kind of conformance evaluation, and that draws out these kinds of questions from me.
Thoughts? Just trying to mine for more information that can be turned into actions.
Thanks!
Chase.

Do you have examples you could share of how this requirement has been met by others in the past? I need to see the experience. Website, logs, anything that has recorded your work or your table top campiegen. So that I can see when You tell me about it. E.g. Could one be a probation GM? These are expectations that You should be aware of, in an mmorpg community like this we get levels of experience of all kind. So when I write this these are skills you need to be personal comfortable with when you take on a gaming group. This task can be hectic expecally for a chat room where it's easier on table top because speach is faster then typing. We don't evaluate persay, the tall tell way of deciding is personal. Youll be overwhelemed or you won't be. Or you'll make a mess and all your players will complain xD 6) Must be knowledgeable with the UGC Tools. Q: This is obviously a recent requirement given that UGC is recent. Is there a way to meet this requirement at present time? E.g. If I said, "Log into Tribble and play 'Bad Times in the Badlands'" Would that allow one to see my grasp of UGC? This is a recent requirement as it will become a defining tool in how we creat areas to role play in. So yes if you've made a module already I'd say you'd know your way around the toolset. Being a game master is like becoming a club officer. As a player your responsibility is simply to have fun an maintain good courtesy. With that being said the GM job is where you pick up a responsibilities. As a GM your providing gaming service to the players. So if your comfortable with all these requirements then give it a swing!

Um, no offense but if I may? Offering up proof of table top GM experience... isn't that akin to asking for proof of playing Ninja Turtles on a Sega game console? (Pre-Youtube, that is.) I mean it's usually a hobby that takes place around the dinning room table over chips, dip and some sangria. At least, that's been my experience.
Just seems like the requirement may make it more difficult for the guild to find replacement GMs, when they are desperately needed.
We're all here to have fun, we're all drawn to role play, story telling, and the Star Trek experience. I think for the most part we're all mature adults here. If someone wants to take a stab as a GM, I don't think anyone is going to be offended or heft pitchforks and rope at the notion of a GM who is getting their feet under them in this new position.

Now you make me feel *old*, Scott. You'll pay dearly for that =)
There's a person I have in mind when I was asking about the Req 1. He's a friend of our family has played (but is on hiatus from) STO. He's GM'ed numerous table-top games (20+ yrs), written convention events, even wrote for the old Living Force and Living Spy craft campaigns. He's run a Star Trek Sim on Obsidian Fleet (a PBEM/PBB organization) for like 2 years. What if I could convince him to join us here? Would his previous accomplishments help the cause?
That's my goal in asking these questions... I'm preparing to do some networking, but I want to know expectations up front.

And as an extra example for consideration against these requirements, I could point to Scott who's created and delivered a lot of content that I've enjoyed both here and on SWG. I can think of a couple others as well... my point being, I have some points of reference and a better sense of what Ny is looking for with these clarifications.

As I said, I just wanna see the experience. It's far to easy for someone to just say something here over the network, and the truth be other wise. So, If you have experience to tell me about, I'd like to see the link, or old forum that it was posted on, or anything relative, to Online Gaming in terms of past experiance.
I understand it becomes little more difficult to show examples of table top RP, however qualify for all of these requirements doesn't mean it's a set in stone thing. There are just one of many factors that will persuade me to believe you'll be productive for the community. In every sence, you can be the most experienced Game Master, but if you don't get along with the other admins, or often on a different page, then that spells out your fate very quickly now does it?
I am confident that you have great deal of experience behind you Shallya. However I do want to point out that your very new to the community, While I like to offer the GM Title to those with seniority. I wanted to see who would respond. I am very excited that you want to step up and have done my best to answer the questions you have asked. But experience tells me not being serious about leadership spots in a online community spells out disaster late on. (OOC Grifing, and so on). On some levels just by asking your questions in a very serious manner has made an impression on me.
If your still interested, we can speak more in person about the tasks you want to become responsible for.

You make great points, and thank you for answering my ongoing answers. I fully expected that the process to qualify as GM in this community would be at least as detailed as the process to simply join the community.
In answering my questions, you've helped me assess what I can and cannot do at present, and have given me some tips to have a discussion with a friend who might be a great addition to the community here. Ultimately, I have a path in front of me that I can progress down, and that's cool.
At present, I'm going to hold back and simply play Dr. Chase and continue the seen and unseen plot contributions I'm making in that role.
I'd like to encourage any community members who have read this thread and would like to try their hand at storytelling to please consider doing so, and call on me if I can be of any help. Will NPC for cookies.
Cheers!
-Chase.

My time compatibility is the main reason I have not stepped up. So at least for me, it is not lack of interest or desire.
