Obey superiors in Starfleet (regardless of the chain of command) unless the Captain says otherwise, and what the Captain says is always right (unless you want to have kitchen duty). Despite being in Federation space and stopping at starbases every so often, we can only rely on ourselves, and somehow manage to pick a fight with everyone. Maybe I'm missing something, but this is different from the Enterprise how? XD

XD Because Kirk didn't think he was "always right"... he relied on those around him (especially McCoy, Spock, and Scotty), and used their input to make his decisions. And he also didn't punish people for giving their opinions. Oh, and on the Enterprise, everyone got laid at least once. Even Spock.
