The only ship that's been asked to "give up members" is the Adagio, specifically because they have too many. The Independance and Ayanami won't be losing players for this ship (with exception to Joy herself). Vorath is leaving the Indy regardless, so that's not really an example you can use against the Sentinel. The idea is to get new players, and extra players from the Adagio. Assuming your probation is over, and you don't already have an alt, any player can add a second character if they wish. But, like I said, the ideal is for unique players. But they won't be taken from other ship, unless the player is already moving anyway. Well, in my original quote of Donaldson, he mentioned the Independence in an example. And even on top of that, if the Adagio has more than enough members, why not try to get those members onto the other existing ships that need them instead of moving them to a new ship? I remember some talk before about how there wouldn't be any new ships until the current ships were filled out. Was that a lie? I know the Independence certainly isn't filled out and it doesn't look like the Ayanami is either. I'm not trying to bash the idea of a new ship, but I'm afraid that the current ships will suffer in terms of recruitment with an added new ship. I admit part of this is my own hopes and dreams. I feel the need partly to move on from Ayanami and advance Joy's career. No one needs an executive officer. What do you suggest I do with her?

If we don't have the infrastructure to take on new members in place. Then we'll have a real bad sistuation brewing. This is opperuntiies for players who want to play bigger roles, to do so. A chance for players who've been in bigger roles to play play command ones. The only way for permotion in the fleet is through someone quitting or us expanding.

I admit part of this is my own hopes and dreams. I feel the need partly to move on from Ayanami and advance Joy's career. No one needs an executive officer. What do you suggest I do with her? I for one can certainly respect and understand your Aspirations. You should not be faulted for wanting to advance ICLY, or OOCLY, and people should be willing to help you achieve those goals. However, and this is not directed at you Joy, NO one should be asked to leave there current ship. Throw an offer out there, and open the new people to create an ALT regardless of there time in fleet. The Adagio may have more people than other Groups, and there are several reasons for that. Including the time slot being easier on schedules. Asking strongly for people to leave, or bribing them with IC benefits, is not a good way to start a new group. The group needs to grow in its own right, or it WILL fail like every other group that has been forced into existence hurriedly and dropped when a "better" opportunity came along for its captain or crew. It needs time, and a group of people wanting to build it for no other reason than that its self. Joy I know you really want to do this, I would help you if I had the time and you wanted it. I encourage you to find people you truly trust and have fun with to help you reach your goal in this. Just keep focused and dont let anyone hold you down or ruin your fun.

Im not going to get into another public arguement over ship overpopulation.
suffice it to say, any and all members that are willing and able to move to this new ship may do so. The perk of doing this, is that some characters can get a higher position then they had before.
This is how things are supposed to work.
Noone moves up in rank and position unless theres a vacant spot open somewhere, either on the current ship or on a different one. This is common practice in today's navy as well as in Trek. People transfer all the time to advance. Its not a bribe, its reality and common sense.
Noone is forcing anyone to move. Its their choice. But some people may not know that we are not only looking for new players to join this group, but also existing players. The offer is not limited to anyone and denied to others.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On a related note....
I talked to my Battalion chief on Thursday and he told me that my Fire Department also has a Lieutenant opening at Station 46, Alpha Shift.
He gave me the choice, to stay at my current Station and move to Gamma Shift, or move to Station 46 and stay on Alpha Shift.
If I make the move, I can stay on my current schedule and still RP on mondays. I have till Weds to make my decision and inform him.

I'd be very interesting in signing on for this new series (with a new character, rather than transferring Miraya) if that's possible.
My main question at this point is simply what session times are you looking at for this group?

Hey gang take it from someone who has rp'd a lot wiht Joy on the Ayanami and the Okinami! As well as her skipper on the Adagio, she is an awes rper and Joy is soooo gonna make an excellant captain. I for one would love to be able to alt on her ship but I cant make the day and already have an alt. So if ya have an alt idea folks and can make the time...or feel up to DGMing...I say lets get behind her! Right now we have a great fleet member base and we keep growing...our members are all great rpers and I think this new ship the Sentinel is a fantastic idea! No matter how long this takes you have got my support Joy! and Tali and Liz would happily guest star on the days I can make it Go get em!

My main question at this point is simply what session times are you looking at for this group? We're still in need of our GM... but we're looking at a sunday schedule for the game... That's pretty concrete for now, to be honest.

I understand that part, but I don't feel it is right to ask players of other ships to leave those ships and come to this new ship. I'd much rather they be asked to move to the current ships that still need members rather than abandon those ships and move to a new ship. I also think that by adding another ship it will hurt the recruitment on the current ships that still need members.

Regardless of arguments around whether we should or shouldn't do this, I am bumping the thread to keep interest alive.

Hello everyone. I'm bumping this thread again to see if there are members who are stuck in Junior Character Positions wanting to have main roles on a starship. Post here if your interested!

Also, we need a GM for this ship. Being a GM is actually a pretty fun job, so if anyone think it's just workworkwork then that's not entirely correct.
