I was wondering why I had a strong urge to play the Secret World yesterday...

Looks like an Armored Core type model.

This is what happens when you walk away from your computer and don't lock it.

This is what happens when you walk away from your computer and don't lock it. You don't lock your computer, and someone comes along and installs Windows on it. Sucks.

I have Windows set to rotate randomly through a selection of desktop backgrounds at the top of the hour. It's difficult to find wallpapers at 3440x1440 that meet my standards of quality, so I don't have very many from which to choose. One of the wallpapers in my rotation, however, is one that I have been tweaking in LightWave for several years: ("Open image in new tab" (Chrome) or "View Image" (Firefox) for the full-sized image.) The models were created by others (the Enterprise by Dennis Bailey and drydock by Prologic9); I just placed them into the scene. The Enterprise itself already had her own lighting, and the drydock had some lights around, but I added lights (low-intensity area lights to each of the drydock light panels and a fake "earthshine" off-screen right), set up the camera(s), and rendered the scene (which took about 2 hours and 45 minutes). Over time, I've also been tweaking the model itself over the years (adding polygons where needed, reducing them where possible, adding a thickness to all the windows, tweaking materials, etc.), and even animating her departure from drydock (which now needs fixing because changing resolutions and frame rates has thrown things out of whack). Eventually, I'm going to change the deflector texture and lighting to better match the powered-down mode that it should be using in drydock, then lighting up as she pulls out. I'm not quite sure how do do that, yet, but I'll figure it out. It's been fun, but there's still a lot to do.
