Personal Log, Alex J Stratman, Stardate 93764.91
I arrived on Starbase 220 last night. I stopped off in the station lounge for a drink after my journey. I met several members of the crew of my new assignment, the USS Sentinel. The seemed to be a decent bunch, especially the ship's diplomatic officer. But, then again you would sort of expect a diplomatic officer to be diplomatic. There was a couple other new personnel there as well. A Bajoran lady named Latuya and some blue alien chap named Aellas. I never caught his name during our brief conversation. I looked it up later though. The guy seems a bit socially awkward, but I don't know that such is anything unusual for those science types. I do wonder if it is a normal attribute for his kind or if he is an unusual case. He seemed very ill at ease around other people.
I was personally briefed for this new assignment by Admiral Klug of Starfleet Medical. If half of what she says regarding this ship's crew is true I have my work cut out for me. I hope that my presence can bring at least some sense of order to the chaos that the Sentinel has developed a reputation for. I should investigate further though, the admiral seemed to be working over time trying to sell me on the idea that there was something rotten in the state of Denmark, so to speak. To hear her speak the Sentinel's former CMO bordered on being some sort of mad scientist type, with ties to illegal organizations. Apparently the rest of the crew is not a lot better. I was told to watch my back and report any untoward activity to Admiral Weaver. Needless to say this should prove to be an interesting assignment. I am looking forward to it.
I have not reported in yet due to the fact that at the time the captain and XO were in meetings with Admiral Compton. Besides I was tired from my trip out here, so I went aboard the Sentinel and got a cabin assignment from the operations officer and turned in for the night.
