Aria and Li's escape pod streaks through the night sky of Acheron. As the pod tumbles to the surface of the planet, they catch a glimpse of the Captain's Yacht, which was ahead of them and seems to be landing some distance away. The pod makes a loud crunching noise as it impacts the rocky ground of Acheron. The inhabitants are not injured by the landing, except perhaps shaken up by the loud sound. Overhead, the burning wreck of the Ark Royal continues its final journey. It seems as if it will come to rest in a nearby mountain range.

Li has passed out as Aria prepares the escape pod for an overnight stay. His breathing is ragged and somewhat labored, often follows by sometimes violent coughing spells.

Aria sighed looking at Li and his ragged breathing. "You better be ok." Aria said quietly to herself as she went back to appraising all the supplies in the pod. Once done Aria grabbed a PADD and sat as far from Li as possible.
"Begin log recording." Aria said her tone only slightly louder than a whisper. "So the mission went terribly wrong. Somehow the observers go some I'm guessing genetically engineered creatures on board. They tore up key systems and distracted us for when they attacked us. They had us outnumbered. We didn't even scratch them. I'm so angry about the whole thing. I heard one of the creatures I thought it was a mechanical issue so I went to check it out. Maybe if I had made a bigger deal out of it when I found signs of a creature. I thought it was a escaped specimen or something." Aria sighed. "Besides that when things went bad I couldn't find their chief of engineering so I did what I could and put together damage control teams and sent them out. Maybe if I had been faster or lead them better maybe the ship wouldn't be lost with who knows how many people. Maybe we could have won. Now we are stuck on this rock and Li is hurt and having a hard time breathing. I'd crack the seal on the door and look for help but there is lower atmosphere here and with Li already having problems breathing the id like to keep our comfy lifepod atmo as long as possible. I just hope starfleet is on the way I really don't want to be a observer lab rat if they come looking for us. So um hopefully someone besides them gets to see this some day. End log recording." Aria sighed then set some of the cushions she had stripped from the seats next to Li and laid down for a nap draping a emergency blanket over herself as the planet was colder than her liking.

Li stirs next to her as he sleeps, at times gasping and struggling to breathe. After a few more coughing spurts he wakes up, his eyes looking about as his throat felt like it was on fire. Finding a sleeping Aria next to him, he gently gets under the blanket and lays down again, trying to mute his coughing with his hand.

Aria dropped a arm over Li when he joined her his coughing fit waking her up. "Do you need a drink?"

Li nods, trying to put on the bravest face he can in front of Aria. His voice is extremely raspy and dry. She can tell it hurts a little bit for him to talk.
"Sure...how much do we have left?"

"Enough I mean this pod was meant for what five people for however long. We will be fine if you drink more than normal since it's just us." Aria grabbed a bottle of water from the neat stack of provisions and handed it to him.

Li eagerly accepts the bottle and takes a swig, very careful not to waste anything that he drinks. He looks up at her, his voice still hoarse.
"It feels somewhat better...thanks."

Aria nodded, "Drink as much as you need no point in hoarding it... Hopefully we won't be here too long."

Li drinks a little bit more, shaking his head. After he hands the drink back to Aria another violent coughing spell ensues.
"Who's gonna rescue us? We might have to find a way to survive for a while..."

"We'll have to wait until you can breath better before we can explore anyways. I'm not cracking the seal on our high pressure atmo to the thin air out there till then and you dehydrating yourself won't help."

Li shakes his head again and reaches up to touch her face before another short coughing spell interrupts him.
"Aria...what if this doesn't go away? Neither of us are qualified to make a diagnosis but...I can tell you that my lungs feel more congested than I've ever felt in my life. You might have to leave me here..."

"No." Aria replied abrutly. "We stick together and that's final. I'm not leaving you alone anyways if someone does come the first think they will check are the pods so sticking here is a good idea anyways..." Aria paused wondering if starfleet or the observers would come looking first.

Li frowns.
"And what if that's not Starfleet...do we have weapons? Any sort of defense?"
Another coughing spat interrupts him briefly.
"A place to hide?"

"And what's the alternative? Me carry as much as I can and freeze to death out there hoping the calvary comes and manages to pick up my lifesigns while I'm hiding someplace that hides them so the observers don't find me? All while breaking the seal on our pod and it's limited life support probably not being able to raise atmospheric pressure back to normal and lowering your chances given how hard of a time you are having with breathing. No I'm staying with you here."
