Jason watches her as she walks over with a smile.
"Sure...what's on the menu?"

Erys turns to look at him and smirks playfully.
"Whatever the replicator can make."

Jason rolls his eyes.
"So that would include nearly every known food to the Federation...sometimes you have too many choices."
"What about scrambled eggs?"

Erys shrugs and turns back to the replicator.
"One plate of scrambled eggs, and one sticky bun pancake breafkast platter."
The replicator hums to life, producing both dishes side-by-side. The dish Erys ordered is significantly larger, containing two pancakes, hash browns, eggs, and bacon. Erys picks up one in each hand and carries to the small table nearby. She sets down both plates and plops into the seat in front of her food.
"You coming?"

Jason gets up, putting on some shorts to look decent as he walks over to the tablet and takes a seat.
"Of course, I'm starving. How long are you here at the starbase?"

Erys doesn't seem to notice the addition of clothing as she digs into her meal. She also doesn't seem to notice or care about the inverse proportions of the meals to the person eating the meal.
"I should hope so, you worked hard last night." She grinned, clearly meaning that statement exactly how it sounded. "I'm here for a couple days. Took a week or two of vacation time after the court martial."

Jason grins right back, nodding as he starts eating the eggs. His face disheartens somewhat at the end.
"Court martial? What happened?"

Erys pauses with a large chunk of pancake halfway to her mouth.
"You didn't hear about the ship that tried to rip itself apart a lightyear away from DS9?"

Jason shakes his head.
"I didn't...what happened?"

Erys slowly puts her fork down, as if collecting her thoughts.
"We had a spacial anomaly open up right in front of us while we were going about Warp 6. We barely had time to react, but my helmsman managed to move us just far enough so the only part of the ship that hit was the port nacelles. They got sheared off, which cause a surge in the plasma conduits and started a core overload. Managed to get everyone aboard the arrowhead and separate before it breached. I'm not really sure how, but we didn't lose anyone. Had a lot of scrapes, bruises, and a few serious burns, but no fatalities."

Jason blinks.
"And you got...a court martial for that? You and the pilot deserve a medal..."

Erys chuckles and picks up her fork again.
"It's standard procedure when someone loses a ship to investigate the loss. These days it's more of a formality unless there are serious concerns about that captain and crew."
She shoves that huge chunk of pancake in her mouth and chews happily.

Jason nods, eating more of the eggs before replying.
"What's the life of a starship captain like?"

Erys smiles as she finishes chewing the mouthfull.
"There's good parts and bad, I guess. On one hand, everyone on the ship has to do what I tell them to do, and I pretty much own the ship until Starfleet reassigns me. On the other hand, it's my responsibility if anything goes wrong and I have to make the hard choices. Other than that, it's not much different than any other job in Starfleet."

Jason nods, finishing off the eggs.
"It's something you kinda dream about...but if I'm honest, I'll probably just be a career helmsman."
