Adagio's New Year Celebration I will set the stage for players to contribute in forum role play if they wish. Everyone enjoy your new year! The scene opens as Talia is helping Xaelei and Ada finish up dressing. Xaelei's hair is worn long and loose over her shoulders. It likely is surprisingly long to some as it extends to the mid of her back and flows naturally into her elegant, form fitting party dress. The dress is of a shimmering sapphire fabric with intricate golden embroidery pattern highlights and trim. Shimmering black, opaque stockings with elegant gold back seams and a pair of strap heels matching the dress colors complete the outfit. Ada's outfit is almost identical except her stockings are white to match her hair color. They both are accessorized with beautiful gold jewelry set with sapphire gemstones. Talia takes a step back admiring them both while smiling, "You both are simply stunning." Ada giggled, "Thanks! You should join us auntie! I am sure no one will mind you cannot dance!" Xaelei nodded in agreement,"Indeed. I am certain everyone would appreciate seeing you enjoy yourself and conducting the official new year ceremony." She then gave a characteristic pause before continuing,"So if you change your mind, come dressed to impress...I will even save you the first dance." Xaelei concludes with a wink to Talia as she and Ada depart for the festivities. Talia and the other ship captains agreed to run minimal duty shifts for 48 hours to accommodate a task force wide celebration of the new year. Many events were being hosted and were open to all, including allied Republic crews. The most popular event by far was being held on Adagio in her converted main shuttle bay as it has promised to be a none stop dance party, live and DJed music and food for all 48 hours hosted by Xaelei. Despite trying to keep her musical talent low key, she had still managed to gained renown as a composer, musician, vocalist, performer and DJ. Jessi had worked tirelessly to organize all the efforts and volunteers to make this dance party event happen, she is still busy trying to manage all the requests to attend and forming a waiting lists and rotations to try and ensure as many people as possible can come enjoy themselves. Xaelei and Ada arrived at the main shuttle bay that many had helped turn into the perfect party location. Jessi had been the lead decorator, she always insisted and always did a great job. The open bar was already stocked and staffed and ready to go. The food was constantly catered in a buffet and staffed kept everything stocked and clean. There were stools, tables and benches at both the bar and food sections. Xaelei and Ada had worked together earlier to set up the stage for live performances as well as the DJ section and sound system. Xaelei took a moment to inspect her many instruments as well as the guest musician instruments for those that would be performing. She and Ada then looked out at the centerpiece of the event, the massive dance floor. The dance floor had all the lighting and effects one would find at popular clubs, with one notable exception, engineering has installed transparent aluminum and energized a shield over the open shuttle bay door. It made for a majestic view of the stars that hundreds party goers would enjoy as they reveled the hours away. Xaelei could not help taking a moment to think of the irony of such a celebration in a battlefield such as this, but felt at ease with the thought no lives were spent in vain. What better way to honor those sacrifices then celebrate being alive and sharing our hopes for a better future? Some of the music mix played other can make requests for music as well

Talia grinned some at Ada's taunt. "Someone has to mind the store, Little One..." She then turned and listened to Xae as she collected up her PADD. She went to answer but only nodded as the pair left. She smiled softly as she watched them go. She paused a moment and closed her eyes as if in an internal debate before heading up towards the bridge.
She and the other ship captains of the task force had agreed to run skeleton watches for the next two days to allow their people to enjoy the holiday of the year turn over. After the grim tas they had all been assigned it seemed the right thing to do. As such every indication she witnessed as she wandered the ship's corridors told her she was right to authorize these events. She knew Jessi had been very energized by her task of organizing and coordinating the main event on the hanger deck...even Konmal was eager to set up his war drums... a two day non stop dance party...she smiled to herself as a part of her remembered being able to dance once. Shrell loved to dance...
...Shrell, she sighed...
She stepped into the turbolift and sid simply "Bridge..."
She rode in silence with her thoughts and distant memories. Yet deep within she missed her younger days of being able to release and express her joy in dance and parties. Had she, she wondered grown so stiff that Ada believes she can not dance...Not stiff Talia thought....
...old.
That thought snapped up her head and her antennae rose sharply. "Hold" She said as the turbolift paused. Her mind raced and she went over the situation. The Adagio was in a secured secured, the rotating Valkyrie patrols and the Dragon CAP wings were in place...The same status shared by all of her ships and those of her allies. She was set up to be informed of the slightest change as she always did..she took in a deep breath and made a decision.
"Resume...Deck three...Captain's Quarters."

Gwen zipped up her tight dress and spun before the mirror. The lights danced through her love emerald green tholian shimmer-silk mini-dress, as she admire the dress' look and deftly avoided the happily yapping little dog at her feet.
"Hey Mister Boggles!..." She leaned down and cupped his face to nose nuzzle the happy little dog. "Sorry little man, Im saving my first dance for someone else tonight!" She groaned as she looked for her heels. "Who of course is running late!"
Mr Boggles happily followed her around the quarters as she raced to get herself ready for the big party tonight. She had helped with some of the decorations but Jessi had just been a force of nature in the event's organization. Gwen chuckled as she thought about how Jessi had calculated when the 31st became the 1st on each of the homeworlds and major worlds for those who wanted to share the experience with loved ones back home. She herself did not mind merely celebrating as per ship time.
Also Gwen has shared with Lis, it was not a bad idea to ensure the hanger deck was not so crowded that she would have to turn some away...
Mr B's barking broke her chain of thought and she looked down to see he had one of her shoes. SHe snagged it "No wonder I can't find them....ugh where is Sevuk?"
She and Mister Boggles then began the laborious hunt for the lost shoe, in whatever hiding hole the little dog had placed it.

Sevuk stands in front of the door to her quarters. He is wearing the white Starfleet issued dress uniform. Sevuk's hand reaches for the console next to the door to engage the chime.

Gwen snapped her head from trying to put on her remaining shoe as suddeninly Mr Boggles erupt into a wild series of bars and charges head long for her door. She blinks only to smile some as Mr B utterly fails to stop and slams straight into the door with a little energetic thump.
"Oh B!" She winced "Little One its probably Sevuk!"
The little dog rolled out instantly and began hopping up and down scratching on the door, His flopped over little ear rose up as the door chime sounded. His wild barks turned into little fog horn like warning brays ad howls. Gwen giggled. Yep, she though. Its Sevuk...
"Enter!" She called out over the insanely loud fray between dog and door.

Sevuk enters the room and raises an eyebrow at the overly attentive canine. He takes a brief look at Gwen before looking down at the dog.
"You appear to have an effective physical security system."

Jessi maneuvered through the large crowd carrying a new dish for the buffet as she looked up at the holo-countdown clock and smiled. She led her line of serving volunteers and set down her dish and began to move her hips happily and snap her fingers to the new beat of one of her favorite songs as she headed back over to the main entrance.
"We need more napkins!" Cried Crewman Darvin to her left.
"Boxed up and under the desert table!"
"Got it!'
She closed her eyes some and bopped in place as the song continued.
"Jessi! We need a few more chairs for the Romul..."
"A set is near the bar...far wall to your left!" She called back as her song ended and a new one began.
"Thank you!"
"It dont mean a thing of you ain't got that swing!"
"What?"
Jessi chuckled. "Sorry, Near the bar...far wall to your left!"
"Okay!"
She closed her eyes and smiled some as she thought of her beloved back home. She missed him bu did promise to try and call at the proper hour. SHe sighed as the new song's tune washed over her. She recalled their first dance to this song, a dance repeated at their wedding. She merely smiled and enjoyed the moment and the feel of the music and excitement and good feelings all around her as the evening wore on.

Gwen chuckled as Mister Boggles tried to jump up and pin down rather optimistically the larger Vulcan.
"Well who's fault is that?"
She smiled as she wobbled some as she finished strapping on her heel before going over to him.
"You and Lis' Operation Canine had now come full circle" She stood before him and took in his uniform.
"Very nice, you look very handsome"
Her eyes smiled as she took him and eventually met his.

He entered the large hanger deck with his group of friends and smiled some as he looked about the vast and redecorated hanger bay.
"Pete , lets get the pitcher and some drinks!" His buddy Hal called to him.\ , before jerking a thumb near the table section. "We are gonna grab a table..."
"Sure..." Jeff nodded and called over the music. "On it!"
He made his way over to the bar and ordered up a pitcher of beer and several glasses. He looked surprised when the bartender called over to him.
"You're Jeff Patterson....tactical yeah?"
"Um..yes..." He narrowed his eyes suspiciously. "Why?"
The bartender produced a padd. "Message for you...let me get you that pitcher now"
Jeff Looked down at the PADD and groaned as he read the message and just WHO it was from...
[DOG] "MERRY CHRISTMAS HUMAN. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Jeff looked to the right and then to the left to be sure no one was watching this exchange and answered back...
[Jeff] "Thanks. SO what is your new year's resolution?"
There was a bit of a pause and then the answer arrived from his friend...
[DOG] "WHAT IS A NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTION?"
Jeffery smirked and typed back...
[Jeff] "Something you are going to change in the New Year in order to make your life better."
He watched as the response came and instantly groaned as he read it.
[DOG] "I AM ALREADY A DOG!"
He shook his head as a follow up soon arrived.
[DOG] "LIFE DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT HUMAN!"
Jeff just stared at the PADD a long moment digesting this until his thoughts were disrupted by the arrival of the bartender with his pitcher.
"Here you go sir"
Jeff smiled a little and nodded to him. "Thank you!" He handed back the PADD to the bartender. "Thanks and no more messages for me tonight..."
"Oh?"
Patterson smirked amused. "Yes...Im out partying...and can't be reached any more tonight...no matter how many more messages come in."
"Um..okay..."
Jeff turned back to smir more over his shoulder to the bartender.
"Trust me...life doesn't get any better than that..."

Gwen smiled a little more and then grew semi-serious as she appraised his dress uniform as if she was inspecting him.
"Hmm...your dress bars are crooked by a millimeter or two to the left...." She looked down at his slacks. "You call those creases Lieutenant...I should be able to shave my legs with them....those are tragic and sad..."
She shook her head at the whites of his shoes "Why Mister...I do have a few how to programs that can teach you how to polish your dress shoes...I mean that polish..."
She clicked her tongue and shook her head with mock disapproval as she looked back up to meet his gaze, trying not to snicker.

Sevuk quirks an eyebrow as he instinctively adjusts the dress bars.
"Your attempt at humor is acknowledged. Is there a reason you chose footwear that makes you appear taller?"

Post by Senior Chief Tia Connelly on Jan 2, 2017 17:46:14 GMT -5
Tia sat at the bar as the massive party went on around her. She wore her dress whites and toyed with her drink. She had ensured her teams had all taken up the opportunity to enjoy the night, Herding them all into the hanger like cats and seen to their various tables or had made it to the location with their dates of choice. She had found they had absorbed a few tables making one large one that was not exclusive to Delta but welcome to any who wsihed to join in their drinking games and dancing.
She had peeled away for a little bit, wandered over to the bar and ordered herself to straight up glasses of the strongest Saurian Brandy she could get her hands on. She she looked down at the full glass set before her as she held the other in her hands as she waited now merely for the song she had requested.
She smirked some as it began, at the time it had just been a silly song they had sung together. He had loved it more than she and had always insisted on singing it every year...or any time they reached port, ensuring her team as well as his knew each and every word of its lyrics.
Off into the crowd behind her she head her teams cheer a loud roar as the requested song began to play. Their voices becoming a disjointed if not energetic choir as they sang along...
She half chuckled and shook her head as she listened to this horrific choir of happy voices. She looked down to the other glass.
"The legacy never dies.." Her smile slipped a little. "I miss you Tony...I really do.."
With that she clicked her glass to his and threw her head back downing the entire glass before slamming her glass back onto the bar top. She set it right beside his and then picked up his glass and threw her voice right into the melody as she rose and walked over to the delta table table singing as loudly as them, raising Tony's drink to them. The assembled poorly singing mass cheered and some stood as all glasses were raised. Tia joined her teams in song until it ended. She then straightened herself some and loudly proclaimed to the large group...
"HERE IS TO US AND THOSE LIKE US!"
Barb called out as she stood to join Tia "DAMN FEW LEFT!"
The rest called out as they rose almost as one calling out, "STRENGTH AND HONOR!"
Tia knocked back her drink joined by the Delta's and their assembled guests as the party continued on around them.

Gwen blinked and then laughed warmly.
"Why Sevuk..is this really the first time you have seen me wear heels?" She stepped back some and twirled for him before striking a lovely graceful little pose. Her movements allowed him to see the effect hr choice of footwear had on her figure and stance.
"You do not approve?"

Sevuk shakes his head.
"It is not a matter of approval, more a question as to your own comfort wearing such. As I stated before, your attire is agreeable."
