Aboard the USS Orlando (NCC-93280), the situation was tense, especially in the Captain's ready room. Captain Erys Murai had just sat down to call and ask for an explanation for the alert status and the mysterious appearance of a formerly cloaked satellite, when she'd received an automated message. The message itself was concerning, but it was the audio recording it contained that caused the woman to lose all composure. She said nothing, called no one, and did not move from her seat behind the desk as she grieved for this loss. It wasn't the first time she'd lost someone, and it certainly wouldn't be the last.
After almost an hour, she was able to pull herself together enough to make the call she'd planned to make earlier. The world wouldn't stop for her, and she was still a Starfleet Captain. There was a job to do now, and she would have time to grieve later. From her terminal, she pulled up the ship's communication system manually and sent a brief text-based hail to the Protector, asking to speak directly to Lieutenant Commander Asada. She wiped at her eyes once more as she waited for a response.

Ensign Saariv quirks an eyebrow at the text based nature of the hail and replies back to Erys, inquiring as to whether she wants her communication with the Lieutenant Commander to be text based, audio, or audio and video.

The response came back within seconds, clarifying the request for a video conference.

Saarvi replies with an affirmative and activates the internal communication, directing to a call to Tibs.
"Commander Asada...a Captain Murai is hailing us wishing to speak with you directly..."

Tiberius sat in his office, working on his report to Admiral Compton. He set down the PADD as he received the message from Saarvi.
"Oh, send her through, Saarvi."
When the message was routed through, Erys would see Tib at his desk, looking happy to hear from her.
"Captain Murai... what can I do for you?"

As Erys appeared on the screen, her face transformed into a happy one. Her eyes were slightly red and puffy, but she seemed genuinely happy for the moment.
"Tibs, I mean Commander Asada. It's good to see you. I was calling to ask: what the hell is going on around Bajor?"

Tiberius nodded. "Glad to see you're out of trouble. Anyway, it looks like we stopped a Na'kuhl plot to interfere with Bajoran politics. The situation has stabilized, and we have the satellite that they were using to effectuate their plan. Our engineers are taking it apart as we speak."
"Why do you ask?"

Erys sat back slightly as she absorbed this revalation. "Na'kuhl, really. I would've expected Romulans, Tal Shiar maybe. When Kurland told me there was a situation, I figured it was just more of the usual politics, but involvement from the future... I guess this thing is more important than I realized. Tell me, Tibs. Why is it that I can never have a relaxing shore leave when you're around?"

He laughed. "So you're taking shore leave on Bajor, huh? You should have told me earlier, I would have held off on the operation until you were done. Haha. Anyway, you should let me give you a tour of the Protector. During the refit, I had them add a few nostalgic elements."
"Those were the good old days... you, me, Joy, and Xemion strutting around like we owned the Galaxy. Well, on the inside at least, it looks pretty similar."

Erys smiled at his offer. "Sure, I'll stop by and take a look. We're docked at DS9, and we'll be here about a week. You're welcome to swing by the Orlando too if you want. She's a bit big for my tastes, but she's sturdy and battle-tested."
