It was late, almost at the end of Beta shift, when Nalie noticed it. No reports had been filed about it, which made the error that much more suspicious. Someone had tampered with the ship's self-maintenance systems, allowing a specific room to be filled with and soak in an unusual substance. Nalie ran through the access logs, and noticed that none of the system logs showed anyone accessing that system. She checked the logs against the backups, and found the same thing. Whoever had done this knew how to cover their tracks, and with much greater skill than the average user. Nalie knew there were few people on the Protector who were capable of performing such a feat, and only two who were both on board and had access during the time in question. Further, she knew that only one of the suspects had regular interactions with the victims of this sabotage.
Switching tasks, Nalie brought up the internal messaging system and began typing a message.

Subject: Internal Contaminant Automated Removal System
Someone has been tampering with internal systems and deactivating them for unknown purposes. On at least one occasion, the ICARS system has been deactivated in a specific set of quarters while the room itself was contaminated with an unknown substance. While I don't have definitive proof of who performed these changes, I know that only a few people have the necessary skills to accomplish both the protocol adjustments and hide their presence within the system. I would appreciate any assistance you can provide in finding and neutralizing any further attempts to modify or adversely affect ship systems.
