"Aight then, it's settled, go on Bore, take the lieutenant around."
He gets back on his knees, sliding some of the parts away that Jill had nudged toward him and begins to install the new components correctly in their proper places. And with his other hand he accepts the next components from Jill as she hands them to him.
"I'm just trying to be nice here, would've been better had you just been like, 'yeah.. I know..' but you're right though.. this stuff is easy and textbook too." He grins back up at her for a moment.

Jill set her teeth for a moment and glanced away, a tiny upward turn of her mouth betraying her smirk.
"Sorry... I can't take a compliment to save my life sometimes. Thanks for trying, though," she sighed as she examined one of the parts just in case the other ensign had replicated the wrong bit. It had happened before.
She shrugged her shoulders. "Menial as it is though, uh, at least it's good practice for if you ever have to gut this thing in mid-crisis?"

He smirks from within the access panel, taking this time to let the evidence fade off his face before he pulls out and glances up at her while she examines the next piece.
"Oh yeah.. repetition is key.. especially for us engineers... and it's all good. No need for apologizing." he reaches up with his hand for the piece.
"And.. I don't think.. i'd be swapping out all of the guts of a generator while we're in the middle of a crisis.. wouldn't you think so? Just find the problem, correct it, and move onto the next subsection that needs help with jury-rigging."

Jill passed him the part and went to grab the next set of components that would need to be put in afterwards, nodding to him.
"W-well, maybe not completely gut it... just knowing exactly where to look for problems is more what I think I was going for. It's way easier to fix something if you're the one who made it work in the first place."
A faint chuckle escaped her. "Gotta know where to put the duct tape and chewing gum, after all..."

He chuckles to himself and nods in agreement, "Yeah.. juicy fruit seems to work best.. but don't tell anybody else, if they found out that half the stuff I fix is riddled with juicy fruit gum.. they'd flip." He rolls his eyes and smirks as dives back in to continue with the installing procedure.
"But what's really stressful and the worst is not being able to diagnose the problem during such a heated moment. See? that's the part that sucks about being damage control. You really have to pull the stuff out your ass and pray it works." His head appears from the panel, expecting the next set.

Jill laughed and nodded before passing him the next part. "I'll have to keep that in mind, the stuff I get out of the replicator takes forever to get to the right consistency..."
"I know what you mean though... seems that, like, ninety-nine percent of damage control is just 'make that thing stop being on fire long enough for us to get the hell out of here,'" she brushed her bangs away from her forehead, leaving a streak of grease from her thumb above her eyebrow before her hair fell back in her face to obscure most of it. "At... at least you get to fix the ship after its beating, though. They didn't let us stay to repair the Pilgrim, even though we all wanted to."

Bore takes the silent lieutenant to the coil. He looks at him, starting to unfasten it bit by bit. "Help me out, keep a hand on the top there."

He smirks, "Hey.. it's not seems.. it is.. and also pray that the deck doesn't breach and you take a shortcut to death..that.. would be brutal." His voice fades away at the dark turn it was headed before clearing his throat.
"Well it was either stay and fix the ship, or waste time brooding in my cabin.." He looks up at her and slowly nods. "But yeah no, I can't imagine how.. uh.. eerie that can be.. It's like you ask yourself if it really is the same ship, knowing that someone else put their hands." He tightens his jaw slightly. "put their hands on your baby."
He gives her one final look before having his head disappear back into the half-filled generator.

Jill gave Damian a look at his choice of words considering the circumstances, but she continued to hand him parts as need be.
"Y-yeah.. uh, well so far it looks like everything's right where we left it... well, before the damage, I mean. If it was right where we left it there'd still be broken panels all over... well, you know what I mean." She sighed at herself and glanced over in the direction that Bore and Li had gone. "Probably gonna have to redo my shortcuts... they probably reset the Romulan tetris high scores, too," she muttered in annoyance.

He clears his throat from inside the panel and what sounds like banging could be heard coming out. One the banging subsided his head appears out again, even dirtier than before but he didn't seem to mind. A cough escapes him and he glances up at her.
"Romulan tetris high scores? what?.. I mean I got you when you were talking about te broken panels and stuff. but high scores? Now I'm hella lost."

Jill felt her face heating up again as she realised how silly she probably sounded just then. "Sorry... I'm just rambling at this point..."
Stupid idiot, that familiar nagging voice chided.
"Uh, actuator next, right?" she said quickly as she went to dig in the box of parts.

Studying her face for a moment, and only a moment, he nods and extends his hand at her.
"Yup, actuator and then some.. wait no.." He cranes his neck to get a better look into the generator and sighs.
"Nevermind, actuator it is.. sorry, lost my train of thought there for a second." He crouches again and waits for Jill to fish out the pieces.

Jill found one near the bottom and passed it over. "You'll need a hyperspanner now," she muttered, crawling over a little bit to snag her toolkit and slide it across the floor to him.

He quirks a brow before watching her slide the kit across to him.
"Not going to beat my head with it?" he mocked. Thinking some more on that he chews on his lip and reaches into the kit to bring out the hyperspanner.
"Nevermind don't answer that." His grimy face disappeared back into the shadowy depths of the generator without another word.

Jill looked tempted for a moment, but ultimately she just slid back over to sit down between the kit and replacement parts.
"Not, not really encouraged to beat up our fellow engineers, at least on our ship. As appealing as it may be sometimes..." She was genuinely proud of herself for not casting another glance in the direction of the warp coil when she said that.
