"Let's talk about the Terran Empire's expansion, that seems to be a very popular subject." He folds his arms. "Personally, I think that trying to conquer the same space all over again in another universe seems like taking the easy way out. There's plenty of space to fill over here, I don't understand why you seem intent on violating the laws of nature just to bother us."

Elizabeth smiled softly as she listened. "Well I can not argue with you on this point."
"In point of fact, I very much agree." She swirled her drink gently in her crystal flute as she regarded him. "Though I do not set policy for the Empire..."
"I am merely a humble servant to the Emperor." She said matter of factly. "So as such, the campaign of conquest for the empire at this time, has very much little to do with me."
"I think you misunderstood my intentions for your homeworld my dear." She shrugged a slight little shrug. "I truly never intended to plant the imperial flag on your beloved Cardassia, it was merely the location I chose to explore for a new potential power source for the Emperor's war machine."
"A mere testing site for an ongoing theory if you prefer." She took a delicate sip from her drink. "I found the results we recovered to be exceptionally fascinating to be honest."
"I do have to say My Dear, Your resistance and the Protector's crew performed magnificently for my overall needs." She looked over to him.
"I want to thank you for that. I could not have asked for you to play your roles more efficiently for me in the end."

"Playing our roles to what end, Elizabeth?" He arches a brow. "Taking over the Empire, perhaps? I'm surprised someone as ambitious as you is letting archaic power structures get in her way. You already have the means to install yourself as Empress if you so desired."

"Really Tolar," She chuckles at his comment. "If you are going to try and fish with me...perhaps use the proper bait..."
"You are assuming quite a bit about me my dear." She sips her drink delicately and looks over towards him once again. "and yes that is true I do have the means to do that very thing..."
"So you tell me darling, why haven't I then?"

"Either you enjoy your work too much or you're biding time until there's no chance of resistance," he shrugged. "I don't see any other alternative."

She shook her head gently at him. "Of course you do not, so quick to assume much about me my dear."
"Let me guess? " She tosses her hair back some. "You heard this from Operative Cancer yes?"
"It was he, he who told you about my intended future?" She smiled then a little coyly. "He does have his charms does he not?"
"You are not seeing the whole game board here Tolar...think what resistance would be able to respond effectively to my forces and allies should I be the ambitious stereotype of my universe?"
"Bear in mind where your universe's Project Salvation floundered with incompetence and hesitation...mine flourishes and continues to evolve..."
"So why am I not Empress?"

"Simply because you don't want to be, at least not right now."

Elizabeth eyes him some "Tell me Tolar..."
"What were you even doing on Cardassia?" A slight smirk to her lips now. "Why the mutiny?...a fine Starfleet Officer like you?"

"How did you know about that?" He squints at her.

A simple smile from her. "Because Tolar, in my universe knowledge is currency..."
"And I am very, very wealthy." She sips from her flute and looks back to him.
"You did not answer my question however."

"Let's just say the commanding officer and I had something of a rather violent falling out over some uncharacteristic and erratic behavior he was exhibiting at the time." Tolar examines the bottle carefully before uncorking it pouring its contents into the flute. "You didn't drug this, did you, Elizabeth?"

Elizabeth observed his careful examination of the crystal serving bottle. She took a slow sip of her own drink as he poured some for himself, the soft fizz and sweet aroma clearly evident now.
"Drug your drink?" She laughed a softly amused laugh and shook her head. "Why would I do such a thing to you my dear?"

"You're a woman of practicality, Elizabeth. I wouldn't be here if there weren't a reason. Information extraction often works best when the subject of questioning is in an altered state of perception."

Elizabeth nodded to this. "Yes...yes of course such methods do work very well.."
"While it is true a door can be 'opened' with a sledge hammer or a plasma grenade...
She made a face as she continued. "You must admit such methods lack a degree of..style. There is so little panache in being so blunt."
She took a delicate sip of her drink before adding. "A masterpiece or a symphony take dedication and precision...a painstaking process is often more rewarding upon its completion."
"All too often, people want to rush,..seeking only instant gratification...and in the end, they merely end up doing more damage to their subject than anything they might gain in the long run.."
"Sorry for a bit of a rant there, Besides.." She smiled a gentle sweet smile to him.
"Wherever did you get the impression that my reason had anything to do with information extraction?"

"Because the alternative is experimentation, and given what I've seen you accomplish here, I'd much rather experience the former."
