Considering the cryptocurrency-driven price inflation of graphics cards and the alleged price fixing that's driving the price of system memory up, this couldn't have happened at a worse time for you. Sorry to hear! If you need any help finding the best performance per dollar part out for a potential replacement, let me know and I'll see what I can come up with.

Tolar's facial expression doesn't budge, even in the face of such a horrifying revelation. "Then what is my fate, if you don't mind my asking?"

"Because the alternative is experimentation, and given what I've seen you accomplish here, I'd much rather experience the former."

"You're a woman of practicality, Elizabeth. I wouldn't be here if there weren't a reason. Information extraction often works best when the subject of questioning is in an altered state of perception."

"Let's just say the commanding officer and I had something of a rather violent falling out over some uncharacteristic and erratic behavior he was exhibiting at the time." Tolar examines the bottle carefully before uncorking it pouring its contents into the flute. "You didn't drug this, did you, Elizabeth?"

"How did you know about that?" He squints at her.

"Simply because you don't want to be, at least not right now."

"Either you enjoy your work too much or you're biding time until there's no chance of resistance," he shrugged. "I don't see any other alternative."

"Playing our roles to what end, Elizabeth?" He arches a brow. "Taking over the Empire, perhaps? I'm surprised someone as ambitious as you is letting archaic power structures get in her way. You already have the means to install yourself as Empress if you so desired."

"Let's talk about the Terran Empire's expansion, that seems to be a very popular subject." He folds his arms. "Personally, I think that trying to conquer the same space all over again in another universe seems like taking the easy way out. There's plenty of space to fill over here, I don't understand why you seem intent on violating the laws of nature just to bother us."

"Honest conversation, Elizabeth. Simply honest conversation."

"Your staff has been very accommodating, I can't say I'm particularly famished, but I won't object if you decide to provide hors d'oeuvres." He watches her move away from the table, not letting her out of his sight.

"I still don't see what value I have to you, outside of a training dummy for instructing your operatives in hand-to-hand combat." He stares back at her with a blank face, a cool intensity behind his eyes.

"Well, yes, I can't imagine why else you would invite me to your chambers." He says nonchalantly. "I believe Mr. Asada's situation is more analagous to a broken, emotionally stunted child clinging to whatever semblance of affection he thinks he's perceiving." He sighs, rubbing the bridge of his nose. "Sadly, I can actually relate to that." Looking back up to the Administrator, he arches a brow. "So, Elizabeth, why am I being held here exactly?"

"Ah, I never said barbaric, Ms. Rendino. It's no secret that the Terran Empire doesn't get along with the Cardassians of this universe, though if they're anything like the True Way and other insurgent groups, I can't say I blame you." Tolar shrugged, completely unfazed by her appearance. "Frankly, it all makes your Commander Asada's obsession with me all the more enigmatic. I don't suppose that's what you're going to ask me about?"
