Turn base games can be fun diversions Oh and I havent bought Guild Wars 2 or anything yet I just happened to link into it online today and was like hrm, its pritty but is it crap and would it be something that satisfies the hack n slash in me.. I watched the race vids for the game and wow nice cities but didnt show my crap for actual character variations for players of that race.

Diversions... You clearly do not have table top war gaming experience.... 40k people are hard core.... in fact I am really surprised there is not a good turn based game in the 40k setting online or solo play, not to diminish the fine work Relic has done bringing the franchise to life on the PC...RTS certainly has broader appeal..but we still need a turn based one made a demoness approved game coming soon..... There is no computer turn based game of 40k because GW would never allow it.
After all, once you can play it on a computer instead of blowing your money on tiny plastic men, like I do, why would you?

Following the same logic..why would there be official online versions of Magic the Gathering? www.wizards.com/Magic/Digital/MagicOnline.aspx?x=mtg/digital/magiconline/whatshappeningthey also have the version of console and PC Duels of the Planeswalkers. www.wizards.com/magic/digital/duelsoftheplaneswalkers.aspxthey apparently are still printing and selling physical cards as well, and people still enjoying in its original format. care to watch a two plus hour of a finals of the Pro tour that recently happened with the Avacyn block? Advanced Dungeons and Dragons is another great example. Many of the first computer role playing games were direct turn based translations and emulations of the table top game. Balder's Gate series, Icewind Dale series and Neverwinter series, Planescape Torument all used the core rule sets and allowed users to switch between a more action orientated game style or a more turn based experience.

Ive done quite a few turn base table tops, Car wars, battle tech, robotech, rifts, tales of the floating vagabon, vampire, werewolf, star wars, big eyes small mouth, tank wars, ironclaw and of course most of all tons of D&D AD&D and Spell jammer. While not quite the same thing i would include axis and allies simply because of how involving it always was. On table top yes these can be more then a diversion some times even obsesive but in reference to a turn based computer game that can be saved and gotten back to when ever i call it a diversion

I disagree, a game like Civilization finds involved people constantly going through the "one more turn" syndrome until they realize the sun is coming up and they have to go to work. Turn based is not any less engaging than other formats..it is simply different form and level..chances are turn based can be more engaging...because one continues to think and plan about it even while not playing....

I agree with this 100%. Sometimes I find Turnbased games MORE addictive and be come obsessed with the game even when not playing.

You still have to pay to get cards for the online version. Also, I never said it made sense, I simply explained why. This IS GW we're talking about.

Warhammer 40,000: Squad Command

I've owned every Civilization game sinse the first Civilization came out in the 90's, along with masters of orion and birth of the federation. Turn base can be obsessive yes, but I consider that a diversion since I may play like mad for a sleepless day for a change n then not touch it again for months. Good games though
