TO: Captain Joyaus Dalun / Commanding Officer, USS Sentinel Commander Shantal Arnimane / Executive Officer, USS Sentinel
FROM: Lieutenant Victor Springfield / Intelligence Officer, USS Sentinel
RE: Cross-train Request ------------------------------------------
Captain,
The recent Tzenkethi crisis highlighted the inability of the Intelligence Department on this vessel (which, as of this moment, consists solely of myself) to respond to disasters.
Accordingly, I am requesting permission to crosstrain in Medical, Security, or Engineering as secondary skills -- wherever Command feels that I would be best suited. My personal preference is Medical, but I believe I have demonstrated aptitude in all of these disciplines. Although my formal training is in legal and diplomatic affairs, I believe that I'm flexible enough to fit into any of these departments.
Given that intelligence operations do not currently consume 100% of my duty shift, I do not believe that this cross-training will interfere with my usual duties. I am more than eager to put as much time into this as necessary, including my off-duty time.
This cross-training would increase my utility in crisis situations and would be an overall benefit to the ship. My primary duty assignment would of course be Intelligence, but should the ship require it, I would be able to shift into another role that would be more useful in a mass casualty situation.
Please let me know your thoughts. Until then, I am as always,
Very truly yours,
/s/
Lieutenant Victor Jackson Springfield, Esq.

Time: The Present Day Place: Starbase 220, Holodeck 13
Victor gazed upon the pile of durasteel sheets and other parts that were piled up in front of him on the Holodeck. Even though they were only made of light, the artificial gravity generators caused them to feel just as heavy as real metal parts.
He slipped his hand inside an anti-gravity glove and turned it on, watching it light up with a noticeable hum. He gripped one of the durasteel panels and held it upright as he knelt down, lowering the plasma welding mask down over his face. He slowly and methodically ran the welder over the junction of the plates, causing the two metals to fuse. He did the same for the other sides, until he had a cube in front of him. Roughly K'Rika sized.
He stepped back, lifting the mask and wiping a bead of sweat from his forehead. He stood there admiring his work, and contemplating how to install a suppression field. But as he gazed upon it, it seemed to bend and twist until the whole thing came crashing down.
Victor sighed and sat down on the floor. This would be so much easier if he knew anything about engineering.

Time: The Present Day Place: USS Sentinel, Holodeck 2
Victor sighed and he folded his hands over his chest, staring up at the ceiling, shifting around on the studded leather couch that he was laying on. From somewhere behind him, he heard the sound of a pencil scratching against paper.
"It's just," he said, "I just really want to lock her up."
The hologram responded in a thick German accent: "Lock who up, Victor?"
"It's this woman named K'Rika", Victor responded.
"Mmmhmm!" The hologram spoke in an excited, interesting voice as he rapidly took notes. "You have some attraction to this K'Rika, yes?"
"Wait what?" Victor turned around to look at Dr. Freud, but the psychologist quickly directed him to keep looking away.
"I'm wondering if you're --" Freud continued, but Vic cut him off.
"It's not that at all! She's a danger to the ship." Victor rubbed his forehead.
"A danger to the ship, yes? And locking her up is the only way to solve the problem?" Freud inquired.
"Right! I can get a box here in no time. If only they'd let me do what I need to do..." Vic trailed off.
"Victor, it sounds like you enjoy locking things up. Why is that?" The psychologist asked.
"I don't know. It's just what I do." The Lieutenant responded.
"Could it be that you're locking your own feelings up in a box, yes?"
Victor's face turned to shock and he shouted out, "Computer! Pause Program! This shit is getting too real."

It could depend on who you ask. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a sandwich requires either two slices of bread or a split roll. The Oxford dictionary states that a split roll is not an option. So, a subway sub would be a sandwich in America but not in the UK. That being said, they're not terribly good except for that new(ish) rotisserie chicken.

Vic sighed a little bit. It looks like Josh Cameron was just as bad of a liar as his brother. Or maybe Vic was just really, really good at lying. Or maybe he was just overly suspicious. Either way, he got the feeling like he was being played with; and that wasn't a feeling he liked. Nevertheless, he gave Joshua a sympathetic look.

Victor was lost in the moment and kind of surprised when Billie Jo pushed him back to separate them. He kind of stumbled backwards a few steps as he kept looking at Josh, in a state of near shock that someone has finally corroborated what he has said the whole time. He kept silent while Billie talked, and then chimed in.
"Josh, she's right about Diamond at least."

Victor was a little shaken up by Josh's violent grab, but he tried to not let it show. He looked Josh right in the eyes and said: "You don't need to convince me. I was the one that threw her in a vault in the first place, and she's already tried to kill me once. I think she somehow knows it was me who locked her up. But I need to know what you know about her. Something concrete."

Vic smiled reassuringly at Joshua, tilting his head slightly to the left. "I can understand your suspicion, but you can trust me. Between you and I, Josh, I was nothing more than a courier. And all that is in the past, anyway."
Vic sighed. "To be honest, I feel bad about everything that happened. And I want to help you out, be your ear if you need to vent. And maybe ask you a few questions of my own." He leaned in a little closer and said in a low voice. "I'm the only one here who believes in demons. I was wondering if you might."

Victor chuckled a little bit. "You're the sassier brother for sure. Don't worry, I'm not involved in that kind of stuff anymore. I know you've been through a lot though, and so I wanted to check up on you."

Billie Jo nodded curtly, "Right." she responds, she then turns and heads back toward Joshua's bedside. she pauses to check the readout on the bed's console. She then turns back to Victor, "Just try not to make this conversation a terribly long one."
she turns to Joshua, "Joshua, you have another visitor." she says with a smile. Victor smiled and clapped her on the shoulder in a friendly manner. "You're the best. Thanks, Doc!"
He put on his million-dollar smile and approached the biobed, crouching next to it as to bring him to eye-level with Joshua. After she announced his presence, he began to speak.
"Hey, Josh. My name is Victor Springfield. How are you holding up?"

Victor spoke as he continued to look over her shoulder. "I'm used to cleaning up !&$* metaphorically, not literally." He chuckled. "I don't want to interrogate him, just to have a chat. The last time we met... well, it was under different circumstances, and communication wasn't exactly possible."

Victor smoothed out his goatee with his left hand. "Oh, I was hoping I could help out. I mean, this whole situation is fairly interesting. Maybe we can team up on it, and I'll see if my intelligence clearance can help answer any questions you have..."
He is blatantly looking over her shoulder at Joshua as he talks. The tone of his voice can best be described as "distracted."
