“She’s a real tough one isn’t she?” Shelanna asked and Nyoko nooded agreement.
The uncanny pair of officers were crammed into a small worker pod. Nyoko stood behind the single pilot chair that propped the operator up to the cockpit consoles. While Shelana sat in the pilots chair operating the shuttle. Nyoko hung perched off the edge of the pilot’s chair looking out the main window.
The pod came over the back side of the dry dock super structure and turned around gracefully. From Nyoko’s view it looked like space was turning bring the back side of the Yoshimoto into view. The charming nova class ship sat steadly docked to the drydock structure and various all the various service doors open, hatches exposed, and the docking bay on the back side of the secondary hull opened.
As soon as the back of the Yoshimoto came into view Nyoko’s heart raced with excitement. Her small lips turned into a wide smile and her eyes lit up. Then her gaze locked onto the letters printed along the bottom lip of the shuttle landing bay and illumined by a single running light. USS Yoshimoto, she could barely control her joy. She let a cute squeal forcing Shelana to laugh.
“My, My, Nyoko, you are attached to this ship!” She said after a short chuckle.
“I am, it’s our home Shelana, and after so many weeks. I’ve become home stick!” Nyoko said in defense.
“Bring ups up above it first Shelana,” Nyoko instructed.
Shelanna smirked. “Only if you do that little noise again,” she bargained.
“Oh, come on!” Nyoko scowled playfully.
“Alright, Alright, Up we go.” Shelanna did smirking widely.
The pod flew over the top of Yoshimoto. Nyoko from her vantage point got a good view of all the new hull plating that was worked and replaced. All was in place and fitted properly. Even the blue strips that lined the hull giving the body a unique characteristic was complete.
“Meranda sure knows how to get ship back on it’s feet.” Nyoko said to Shelanna studying the hull sharply.
“She is an excellent engineer,” Shelanna responded.
“That she is,” Nyoko said fondly marveling over the top part of the ship.
The pod finally flew over and past the small triangle shaped saucer section. The Yoshimoto was small, only 10 decks at most. The saucer section was short triangle shapped section of the ship, that was attached to a voyager like star drive section. For such a small ship, the Yoshimoto was not only tough, but loaded with advance sensors and science equipment that made Karl’s bran new cruiser seem like antique.
“Coming about now,” Shelana reported and Nyoko nodded.
They came up under the saucer section of the Yoshimoto and they got a good view of the sensor array powered down.
“Bring is closer to the sensor array. I want to inspect it,” Nyoko commanded.
Shelenna her blue hands on the flight stick gave a couple of thrust forward making the work pod thrusters fire backwards to push the worker pod forward. Once close enough Shelana had to compensate by pressing back on the stick. These caused the trusters to fire forward and stop the pod with counter force. However she gave to much trust, and although it kept the pod from crashing cockpit first into the sensor array, it drifted ever so slight backwards away from the sensor array.
Nyoko didn’t notice it and Shelanna didn’t think anything of it. The two were to concerned about looking at the array.
“Look they used new sensor type configuration,” Nyoko pointed out touching the window of work pod.
“And Transtainum deflect dish array too,” Shelanna as well pointed out, we’ll likey have better shield output now.
“Very nice Meranda, very nice,” Nyoko complemented her absent friend.
Then it happened, a large thud followed by a screeching sound that raddled the two in the shuttle. Nyoko looked to Shelana in absolute alarm and disbelief. Shelana eyes widen in sheer disbelief. She pressed a few buttons quickly and fired the thrusters upward pushing the pod off the hull.
“Your kidding me, Right?” Nyoko asked in absolute sarcasam.
Shelana in almost a fit of panic spoke quickly, “I-, I- Sorry Captain! I didn’t realize-” she was cut off by Nyoko.
“Starship Insurance doesn’t cover starship body paint,” Nyoko said with a smirk.
