in case people are interested, Neverwinter going to be delayed and changed..radically. uk.pc.ign.com/articles/119/1198498p1.htmlthey mention the action style similar to Vindictus (Mabinogi Heroes) in the article. For those not away what direction that is, peer to peer..instanced action.

Peer to peer - is that sort of like Guild Wars?

Yes and no Chase.
The game play style is similar to Guildwars, instances small team action, and very action orientated..and "hubs" not really a MMO in my book, but that is semantics.
Peer to peer means that the game is not in fact host by THEIR server, rather the users host and interact together. File sharing (most used for illegal piracy) is peer to peer, WoW Blizzard updater for large patches...is peer to peer.
So in the case of Vindictus, one of the players acts as the "game host" and becomes the game server for the session..so varied on that person's machine and everyone's internet connection to that machine..dictates the performance. The social hubs are hosted by the developers servers and they act as a match making source. Now if Neverwinter is going to be peer to peer..I do not know.. I do know Guildwars is NOT peer to peer..their servers act as the host for players to connect to. I mentioned peer to peer for Vindictus just as information for that game in particular, not to confuse people in what model Neverwinter will use. Sorry about that.

Ahh ok. Thanks for the insight, Xae.
So based on what you said it seems like NWN is going be similar to previous NWN titles where you could host your own server?

No.
Previous Neverwinter titles were always intended to be single player games, with a strong mod tool kit and the community could create content and host servers as it wanted.
The new Neverwinter is going to be online only. It will be making money with a cash shop, it will be more MMO like.

I miss running an NWN server. I have a great NWN1 module with the PRC and CEP installed, but NWN is so empty these days. I do own NWN2 but I've never really tried it out online.
Speaking of that, is anyone interested in an NWN2 cooperative game? We can play through the campaign over hamachi or something.

While I truely adore NWN as s medium of role playing. I doubt that you would find a major following here on the Daedalus. Expecally for game that now is almost 10 years old. Ive had NWN now unistalled for months and the only real reason of keeping it unistalled is because its become a game with empty servers. At this time I'm going to continue focusing on the Fleet especially now that free to play is around the corner and chances of new and old RPers returning to the game is high. I firmly believe now is the time for everyone in the fleet to focus on there role playing skills and reinvest them selves in the fleet to give the new comers a good impression of the game and the fleet!

I know what you mean, I gave up on NWN1 long ago. But sometimes I feel nostalgic haha

I have high hopes for both games, but unfortunately, if there's one name that's worse than Funcom for producing a game, its Cryptic. Funcom has Ragnar Tornquist though, and when they give him his lead, he does very awesome things.
