Maybe I'm just ODing on my cranky pills today, but Cryptic butchering both a name, and an IP that more or less restarted the PC-RPG genre really doesn't get me going.
'sides, I've yet to see Cryptic actually manage to tell a halfway decent story without falling flat on their face a few dozen times first.

It certainly looks nice and all, but how is this great news for our fleet members?

With the sale of Cryptic. I feared they would cut the game and it would never be made.

With the sale of Cryptic. I feared they would cut the game and it would never be made. Ahh misunderstood i thought there was something that was suppose to pertain directly to us and STO. Does look to be interesting and glad they didn't can it, but its not really my thing so enjoy it

Oh be nice guys. This is kind of the Off Topic section of the board, we should be able to discuss what we like within reason.

/e Rolldice
Xae rolls 3 out of 100 and with her massive negative modifiers, fails miserably at being "nice"

I'm cautiously optimistic about Neverwinter. Though i liked how NWN1 and 2 allowed fully customised areas and rules. I played ona couple of persistant RP world servers with perma-death. The perma-death is what really made them stand apart from standard MMO fare. Nothing got the blood pumping like your patrol being ambushed by drow, globes of darkness falling on you and the knowledge that if you died, you were dead unless someone paid a temple to resurrect you.
It added an extra element to character creation. The saying "there are old warriors and bold warriors but no old, bold warriors" was particularly apt.
Edit to add: Secret World looks promising, but then it's Funcom, and Age of Conan looked promising too. Never underestimate Funcom's ability to snatch buggy crapness from the joys of awesomeness.
