Section 01 – Out Of Character:
(All these questions are to be answered as the player)
Part A: Player Specific Questions
1.) What is your user handle (ex: Nyoko@GolbezLunar)?
Xannder@Xannder
2.) What time zone are you in?
Currently residing in the Central Timezone
3.) How many hours do you play a week?
As yet I couldn't say as I've only been playing ST:O for about three days. But I'd say anywhere from 20-40 right now.
4.) What are your typical play times; (Days and Times)?
For right now, I will probably be trying to get online at least once a day, the time will vary based on my work schedule, but evenings are a good bet.
5.) What is your age?
I am 27 years old.
6.) Are you a boy or girl?
To quote internet reviewer Linkara- "I am a man!"
7.) Are you an active forum user? (Highly Recommend that you are.)
Not.. yet? Though in all honesty I've never been a massive forum follower. Though as this is RP, chances are I'll be more active than I have in the past.
8.) Do you like to write Stories, Log Entries or Design LCARs jpegs?
I have been known to spin a few yarns. So yes, I enjoy writing stories. I haven't really done much by way of "Log Entries". And in the past I've knocked out a few LCARS images
9.) Are you willing to work with Game Masters as an authority over storylines?
Absolutely. As an avid RPer for many years, I am fully onboard with GM's and their Godly powers
10.) Are you subscribed to the Daedalus OOC Channel?
Not yet. But as soon as I finish typing this up, I will look into it.
11.) What kind of subscription do you currently have? (Optional)
My ST:O subscription is monthly as I usually stick a toe into a new MMO and test the waters a bit. Also my RL Schedule is varied with work and other obligations that I cannot predict. But my experience in game so far as been very enjoyable, so I will probably continue for some time.
12.) How did you hear about us?
I was looking for some good deep RP in-game, and searched the Fleets for "RP" scrolling through the results, Daedalus was one of the few "Heavy RP" groups that looked organized and enthusiastic enough to pursue
13.) Are you willing and able to put our guilds information in your Character Bio?
I don't see why that would be a problem.
14.) Do you understand the Activity Policy?
I do, and again, with a varied work schedule I will do my best to attend Fleet Functions, but the ability to ICly excuse an absence will be handy should things ever conflict.
15.) What is the best way to contact you?
Obviously a Tell in game is the easiest way, but on request I can provide my e-mail address or AIM (which I'm almost always logged into).
Part B: Role Playing Experience Questions
1.) What does the Term "IC-OOC Separation” mean to you?
IC is In Character, all dialog, emotes, and actions are done by and representing of the character I am currently playing. OOC is Out of Character, meaning usually an aside comment from me the player on a situation or idea. Separation is the gap between the two which makes me think of Meta Gaming. My OOC knowledge should always remain separate from my IC motives.
2.) What is the difference between the term Player and Character?
The player is me, the "Man behind the curtain" as it were.. known as a mun on the classic days of AOL Chat RP, the player is the soul of the Character. The Character is the created being who exists in the RP, his motives, goals, and personality are possibly quite different from his Player.
3.) What is Meta-gaming?
Application of Out of Character Knowledge into the motivations of In-Character activies. i.e. As a player I may know how to redirect a phased plasma flow through a auxiliary junction system.. but if my Character is a Tactical officer, he would have know knowledge of Starship Engineering and should not be able to complete that task without assistance from another Character Engineer. That is a mild example, Meta is also used by unfair players to sometimes gain advantages in Free Form RP.
4.) What are Action Brackets? (:: :: | - - |* *| )
Action Brackets are used to show a Player/Character action in situations that lack a /me emote command or are not full narratives. i.e. ::sighs:: though it can be used for full narratives of activity in certain RP styles.
5.) How long have you been playing Star Trek Online?
Approximately 3 days?
6.) How long have you role played in general?
I have been roleplaying for about 14 years. I started Online Free Form RP when I was 13 via AOL Chat Rooms. Moved through Yahoo, then into MMO's like Ultima, WoW, and CoH. I have also done a large amount of RP via Second Life over the last 3 years.
7.) What was your last role playing experience?
Currently I'm the on-again off-again Lord Chancellor for the House Arcalian in the New Gallifrey Time Lord Council on Second Life. Before that I was a GM for a Marvel Super Heros Roleplay Sim I constructed.
8.) What are your expectations of this fleet?
In depth character driven Roleplay, focusing more on story than explosions. I'm looking to find like-minded skilled RPers who I can form IC bonds with and enjoy passionate exploration of a Star Trek universe with.
9.) What will you bring to this fleet?
A life time of Star Trek fandom, vast amounds of geeky trivia, a fire for good engaging RP, 14 years of Free Form RP skill, and a smile. In addition to just being involved, once I get the lay of the land, I would like to help out in anyway I could beyond just showing up
10.) How do you feel about PVP?
PVP is fine for an occasional indulgence, but I've honestly never been too big a fan of competitive gaming. Usually one person smugly rubs in their superiority over the other, and at the end of the day, this is just a game. Avoiding PVP has always meant avoiding unsavory types in my opinion. But.. occasionally it's fun.
11.) What difficulty do you typically play Star Trek Online on?
As I'm still getting my space legs, I've had it on Normal. Again, I'm only 3 days into my experiance, but I think I'll get a little more daring soon.
12.) Do you understand that all role playing is conducted locally?
Yes, and it makes sense, as most people can't hear across the universe. Local (i.e. spacial) RP is a good way to keep a realistic RP "bubble" around current interactions.
13.) Do you know how to roll dice on Star Trek Online? (If so what is the command?)
I actually do not. It used to be something like /roll d20 or something on AOL. I don't know if it's the same or not. Though I'm going to find out when I'm done here
14.) Do you have experience with Star Trek Role Play?
Yes. In addition to being involved in a Pen and Paper campaign back in High School. I have spent 3 years on and off in Star Trek RPs on Second Life. Granted, those have always been lackluster and no one has ever pulled together a high functioning progressive RP group (which is shocking.. but I digress). But I've still been involved in enough ST RP (and built enough Star Ship Interiors) to have some good experience.
15.) Do you have alts in other fleets? (If so which fleet are we sharing you with?)
I do not have an alt at this juncture.
Section 02 – OOC Character Inquiry:
(All these questions are to be answered as player about the character you wish to play. It is best that you review daedalusomega.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rphandbook before answering.)
Part A: Character Request
1.) Character name?
Alexander "Xannder" Vincent Schumann
2.) Character gender?
Male
3.) Character race?
Human
4.) Is your character a telepath? (Alien telepath characters are subjected by GM approval)
Negative
5.) Character class?
Starfleet Engineer
6.) Character STO level?
Currently Lt. Commander 1 (11)
7.) Desired In-Character rank?
Lieutenant (J.G.) if possible, though I'd be happy with Ensign.
8.) What is your basic character concept & history?
Xannder is a Starfleet Engineer. He grew up on a small Federation Colony world, the only child of a single father. While there isn't "poverty" in the Federation, there are certainly some planets that have a tougher go of life. His father worked as a foreman in a mining facility. Xannder always had an aptitude for technology, taking apart and reconstructing PADDs at a young age, and excelling in the school programs. His father strongly urged him to apply to Starfleet Academy, with the hopes he wouldn't end up working in some mine his whole life. So Xannder came to Earth, and having completed his Academy training, is ready to take on the challenges of space. He's rather upbeat and optimistic about most things, and had a very folksy charm to him. But he's loyal and follows orders.
9.) What type of Commission does this character have? (Enlisted, Junior Officer, Command Officer?)
I would say Junior Officer.
10.) Desired ship type?
The Akira Class is my most favorite ship in Star Trek So ultimately I would like one of those in-game. Though as far as IC RP goes.. I'm happy to simply interact on a bridge with other players.
11.) Please describe what Fleet Supply is.
Fleet Supply to my understanding, is a list of all Ships within the Fleet and any open spots for new or additional ships there-in.
12.) Please describe what Merit System is.
The Merit System as described in the Handbook thread is the system of character "leveling" within the Fleet RP. Merits are awarded for Excellent Actions and Successful Missions, and you progress through the Ranks according to accumulation of Merits. Conversely Demerits detract from total Merits and may lead to reprimands and/or demotions.
13.) Has this character been enrolled in a fleet prior?
Negative
14.) What are your aspirations for this character? Casual RP (I am just here to RP) or Competitive (I want to be an Admiral some day!)
I would say Casual to Heavy Roleplay. I enjoy deep RP, but can't say I'll commit *all* my free time to being on ST:O, but when I am online, it will be Heavy RP for me. And we will see what time brings
15.) What are strengths, weakness, and flaws in this character’s personality?
Strengths: Loyal, Obedient, Creative, Hardworking. Weakness: Naive, Inexperienced, Tends to get frustrated at himself when he can't solve a problem. Sometimes assumes too much responsibility.
Section 03 – IC Character’s Personnel Recorded:
(This section must be filled out and will serve as your official personnel Starfleet Record for this character as you play in our fleet. This is the section where you can become creative and illustrate to us the character you want to play in our RP Community. Be as detailed as you can with the character's past service. BE ADVISED: In-Characterly, Fleet Command has access to all your character's files... nothing is **Classified** to them.)

2410 - Starfleet Transfer Order - Ship Transfer Pending.
Profile:
Lieutenant Schumann is a Federation Citizen from the Mining Colony on Dracosa IV. The hardships of a life on a mining planet do not seem to have discouraged the optimistic energy on the young Engineer. His aptitudes for mechanical operations have served him well in his time post Academy. More of a tinkerer than a thinker, Schumann will often jump into the problem assessing as he goes. Normally this could be seen as brash and impulsive, but his intuitive nack for technology seems to aid him in resolving most engineering problems that arrive. It was this quick action that distinguished him early on in his tour on the Harpers Ferry. While engaged in a confrontation, several power relays were destroyed cutting off main and auxiliary power to key parts of the ship. Schumann, seeing the problem, grabbed a hand phaser and quickly cut down several support pylons, using their conductive materials to bridge the relay gaps. The work around lasted long enough to restore shields and impulse power until the ship could retreat, and factored heavily in saving the lives of the crew that day. He declined any recognition for the act, simply stating it was "What any Engineer would do in a pinch." His aspirations are not for fame or accolades, simply to keep pushing forward into being the best Engineer he can be, with hopes of one day becoming a Chief Engineer.
