Aurora is, to mince no words, a gearhead of the highest order. She ADORES machines. She grew up on a trading vessel owned and operated entirely by three generations of her family. She learned the skills, joys, and hazards of traveling space early, on a ship where everyone was expected to do their part. Aurora's part was engineering. From an early age, she showed the talent and mindset necessary for what many would call the tedious, boring work of keeping a ship and its equipment running.
People, on the other hand, are something she's not that great at dealing with. Growing up on a trading vessel crewed by none but immediate family she never developed great people skills; there wasn't much need to make friends or meet new people when you see the same twenty faces very nearly every day of your life.

9.) Please give a little background about this character.
Aurora was born and raised on the Andorian registered freighter, Eienven. The ship was the grand venture of her grandparents and crewed entirely by three generations of the Eshani family.
From a young age Aurora showed aptitude towards technology. By the age of eight she was regularly following the Eienven's chief engineer, one of her uncles, and learning everything she needed to know to keep an ancient freighter flying.
When the war between the Federation and Klingon Empire began in earnest, it became even more difficult to keep the old ship operational. Aurora became quite adept at jury-rigged repairs or re-purposing old, broken equipment to fit a new need. She also became more withdrawn, finding comfort and solace more often than not in the bowels of the ship repairing something than in the company of her family.
Aurora would have been content spending the rest of her life on that freighter, though one rarely finds total contentment with life. The family's freighter began taking part in convoys to support Federation forces on and near the front lines of the conflict with the Klingons. On one such mission, the Eienven's warp containment field was destabilized and she fell out of convoy formation. The ship was quickly pounced on by Nausiccan raiders. Though the convoy escorts were quick to respond and her family saved, the ship was a loss.
Lacking a ship and facing heavy pressure from her parents to return to the homeworld and settle, Aurora made the first independent decision of her life, to try putting her skills to use, and join Starfleet.
Academy life was a difficult adjustment for Aurora. Though the curriculum was not particularly difficult for her to grab at, her people skills were terrible. She had but a handful of friends, all of whom she met in her own classes. On the rare occasion she was invited to a party, she always declined; the Academy did more to harden the shell she had constructed around herself than it did to break it.
Because of her extensive experience in the field, and in spite of her interpersonal difficulties, she graduated in the top tenth percentile of her class; and as the best engineering candidate.
