Title of Log: Party Time
Just returned from a wild party that started out innocently enough as Nyoko's promotion celebration. I shudder to think of the poor computer that has to tabulate the bar bill for our Admiral. I'm not sure he realized what he was offering when he offered to "buy". I would not be surprised to go back to the club and see him behind the counter, serving drinks, to work that tab off.
Nyoko's promotion is so incredibly overdue. I was completely caught off guard by not only her actual promotion, but also the fact I was chosen to pin her. I am very happy for her.
She also told me she has a new ship assignment. I will so miss the Yoshimoto. She and I have spent a lot of time together on that ship. I hope that she is given to another captain that respects her and takes care of her the way she should be taken care of.
I am still reeling from the loss of Nehawyn and Den'ya. I wish them both luck and I hope their new fleet realizes the caliber of the officers they've acquired (stolen?) from our fleet.
I wish I had gotten to know Nehawyn a bit better. As I look through Den'ya's records, I can see just how thorough and professional she was. Her departure has propelled me to acting CMO of the fleet.
I was CMO of the much smaller Epsilon fleet, but that was a bit different. All the chief officers were human. I felt much more comfortable treating humans. With this new assignment, even though it might be temporary, I'll be responsible for many more key personal that have extra terrestrial origins.
Still I have always been a fast learner and I have had to treat alien races in the past. I'm sure the gaps in my knowledge will be quickly filled in.
Most tragically, Den'ya's departure has left me to keep Chief Werner in line alone. At this evening's party, it seemed that he had found a disciple in Xoeni. Another MACO in the making. She drank quite a bit last night and smoked even more. It seemed at times that all she lacked was the appropriate body parts to scratch in public to be a true MACO.
Of course I think just about everyone did over do it. I'm sure several ships in our fleet have their ship's doctors replicating the appropriate drugs even as I speak.
Poor Nyoko and that potted plant. Though she did seem to be getting along well with Devon from the Lucky 7th. He does need to speak to someone in our medical corps. If Amelia doesn't consult with him soon, I'll try to make the time to do so myself.
I wish I could've stayed at the party later, but my mind was elsewhere and once the Admiral called in the security patrols to restore order, it seemed I wasn't needed anymore.
He cheated with those alchohol eating nanites, but still he takes chances he should not.
Well it's off to bed for me. Tomorrow is another day.
