Ongoing ramblings better...left unsaid and in the void with the spirits, or left for smart people....
Stardate...ummm, yadda ya...
I have no idea why I am doing this Xae, but right about now I'm willing to try most any of your crazy ideas.
Let's see, how did today go? I get off the transport and wandered around the station in construction. Nothing special to note, standard "work in progress stuff". Replicators not working, so I fix one and get dinner...and shortly after it goes back on the fritz and being busted...well at least I got dinner...
Next I got to meet the crew...yaaaaay.
Met the Captain, who instantly had an allergic reaction to me...apparently so bad, soon after she need to go take a nap...
Met the first officer, who had an allergic reaction to me of a different kind. Oh wait..she said she was "acting" first officer, come to think of it, I have no clue what her posting really is. She did have trouble acting like she could even tolerate me, so doesn't speak to highly of her acting ability.
Next up has to be my favorite. Ship's doctor and counselor. She proceeded to demand my official designation as a life form and when I did not give her an answer she was satisfied with, proceeded to call me a bad officer. Oh wait...it gets better. After listening to them all chat, come to find out that supposedly all through medical school the good doctor was constantly approached by the Diplomatic Corps for recruitment into their ranks. If we been using that brand of diplomacy it kinda makes sense we are still at war with like, everyone, after all these years still...
The "SOOOOOOO" Ally, sweet girl trying too hard.
-sighs audibly-
Spirits willing this will be a short tour and they will grant me the strength to smile through it....
-recites a chant and mantra in some ancient, forgotten language-
Oy...what's this in my messages?
-Shantal listens and watches the message and then whispers-
"You want to get out of here? You talk to me....."
Damn you Xae, I am trying to sulk here! This place probably doesn't even have a decent gym! Turn this goofy log off!

Stardate 90403.34 in the Sentinel sickbay sometime after the Tholian Cruiser Battle:
Shantal entered the small and packed sickbay and took in the scene as the small medical team worked tirelessly to treat the flood of wounded. She also noticed a dark alcove in the far corner where no one went and where two body bags laid on the floor. The giant, hulking woman carefully weaved her way through the bustle and chaos to that alcove and bent down to read the tags:
Crewman Cruz Keks Ensign Vincent Monroe
Shantal mumbled some words of respect for the departed spirits in a forgotten language and then slowly stood back up. She then made her way back through the chaos of the small cramped sickbay and found where her engineering people were being treated. The attending nurse politely gave the details of each of their injuries and treatments as well allowing Shantal to sit with them as they recovered. Since, Saafap, was still touch and go and yet to regain consciousness, she pulled up a stool and sat next to his bed. There she sat quietly taking in the scene, and staring at her injured friend and in her mind's eye...
-internal processor 3: time frame image capture enabled...playback of internal ship sensor download commencing...
Shantal vision glazed over as she closed her eyes and focused on the recorded play back in her mind as if she was actually there...
The scene opened with Keks working frantically at the starboard thruster controls and Monroe down the hall passing by. The ship rocked and there was an explosion. The image clears with Keks unmoving on the ground, there is a wall of fire blocking the hall and Monroe returned to the hall to check on Keks. Monroe was yelling for Keks to respond and he started to look around on the walls nearby as he contacted medical for assistance.
-fire suppression unit 2-13 malfunction-
Not seeing what he was looking for, Monroe steadied himself then dashed and jumped through the fire landing near Keks. Monroe checked to make sure he was not on fire then bent down and checked Keks for life signs. Monroe saw on the wall a damaged container that housed a hand held fire extinguisher. He got up and started to struggle to try and get the container open. The ship rocked again and another explosion and when the image cleared Monroe was unmoving on the floor next to Keks.
-fire suppression unit 2-13 malfunction corrected, unit operational and engaging...-
A moment later the fire suppression system activated spraying mist and foam over the hall and the fallen crewman.
-internal processor 3: playback of internal ship sensor download stopped
Shantal's vision returned and she noticed her jaw was clenched and her hands balled into tight fists. She took a moment to breathe and settle down and then noticed Saafap starting to stir. She got the nurse's attention as she placed her strong hand on Saafap's shoulder and gently kept him from trying to sit up.
"Easy there Sadcat. Yer in tha sickbay after takin' a pretty nasty blow, aye."
Saafap laid back down as the nurse started to check his condition and started to ask, "Is the..."
"Ship out of danger? Ya. Battle over an' we won. On our way home now.", Shantal let go of his shoulder and sat back to let the nurse do her work.
"What about...when...I can't..It's all fuzzy" , Saafap said confused.
"Easy there. Just settle and rest, you can sort it all out later after yer feeling better."
"But!", he said as he was panicked and the nurse was looking for a sedative.
"Ok ok. Talk to me Sadcat, what do you remember?"
"I remember the thruster controls...the system was going critical...the hatch...it was stuck...trying to get it open and there was a flash...I could not move or see, ears ringing...but then I heard your voice...sounded distant...then later your voice sounded like you were right over me...then I felt like I was being lifted and then...it all went black.", Saafap finished remembering and was much calmer. The nurse noticed and put the sedative away.
Shantal was just sitting back on her stool and listening, and he continued, "I'm sorry."
"Sorry fer wot?"
"I tried but I just..." he started to go on, but Shantal cut him off with a raised hand and a gentle shaking of her head.
She the leaned in close to him as she spoke in a serious whisper without her usual accent, "I'm going to tell you how it went down. Your quick thinking, initiative and skill kept several key systems operational in a crisis. Like the transporter, which happened to save lives today. Later, you were at your post and that critical system was threatening to overload. You knew if it did you were dead. You could have ran, hell a smart man would have ran...but you stayed to get the job done. You did it to help give us the best chance at surviving. So thank you Saafap for giving us your all. That is what the official report will say."
Both Saafap and the nurse looked a bit stunned, but that quickly passed as Shantal leaned back and her voice turned normal with her signature accent, "But it'll be in tha fancy language tha brass likes ta read, aye. Now you rest up, cause ye look like something chewed ye up and shite ye back out and we still need ya."
Saafap nodded, "I will"
"Iffin' ye want ta feel like a real Sadcat and pummel yerself some more, I can save ye some real shite jobs fer when ye come back, aye?"
"That won't be necessary ma'am and thanks for checking up on me", he painfully chuckled.
"Righteous", with that Shantal stood up to go, "Right then, best get back to it meself, canna leave the Voodoo crew unattended too long, not sure what crazy shite might end up happin."
With that Shantal's towering frame weaved carefully back out of the sickbay...as she departed she could not help but play a song in her mind that Xae picked out for her and the Voodoo Crew and smile a bit...
P.O.D. - Boom

Sometime after the battle with the unknown enemy in the Azure Nebula...
Dhis personal log vwill 'ave ta do until I can get in touch vwith my sisters. I dinna need ta look at dhe causality report ta know my Crew took dhe vworst of it. Alot of dhem are vwith dhe spirits now. -lets out a long sigh- I can only 'ope dhey vrest in peace. I'm gettin' feckin' tired of vwatchin' my Crew 'round me die, again...and again... -long pause- Somethin' gotta change...
I'm sure people vwondering wwhy I dinna assume command vwhen dhe shite hit dhe fan. Fer starters, I vwas about dhe only vone left of my Crew and 'ad ta put all my efforts inta getting dhe Old Girl back inta dhe fight an' keepin' Her dere. Next up vwas I 'ad no clue of dhe situation or our mission, dhe few on dhe bridge did, plus dhey 'ad Davidson and Collins and dhose two kept dheir A game goin' strong. -pauses again- It vwas important dhose kids turned dhis around...dhey vwill always remember dhis time vwhen it looked 'opeless and it fell ta dhem to step up...and dhey did... Besides, I'm trying ta get me an my Crew back ta da ship jards, last thing I need is dhe brass thinkin' I'm command material.
Now ta dhe offical stuff.
I have high praise and commendation for the following officers and crew that I had direct interaction with and saw first hand their efforts that went above and beyond.
Lieutenant, JG Donald DeSoto for his non-stop efforts to save the crew. Petty Officer 1st Mathilde "Bee" Dismuke for efforts to keep a dire situation under control and assist in saving fellow crew members.
The remaining Voodoo Crew that kept us in the fight: Chief Petty Officer Stoggin Lieutenant, JG Thirys Ondenyph Crewman Varel Crewman Zalor Kurlok
The next two stepped up well outside their department and regular duties to help the injured and the remaining bridge crew turn our situation around. Lieutenant Monica Collins Ensign Cynthia Davidson
The next two did what had to be done on the bridge to turn a defeat into an engagement most of us could walk away from: Lieutenant J.G. Jonathan Cameron Ensign Zyrinassan sh'Avana
I want to give special commendation to Lieutenant, JG Gordon Harrison. Despite life threatening injuries, he remained at his post and got our cloaking device operational which helped us elude pursuit and recover.
Thinking to herself "It seems now, people know why vwe are dhe Voodoo Crew..."
