Personal Log, USS Pilrgim.
So today was... well a few steps above a disaster. First I got lost on a starship like an academy first year, then i bumped into my new boss quite literally. And I almost blew up the ship because i got off on a tangent about advancing our power efficiency and we haven't even left spacedock. I also apparently earned cupcakes? My room mate has opposing shifts which would be a good thing if she didn't seem to think that a shared living space meant that just because i don't have many personal items she can take up the rest of the room with hers.
Why did Commander Soluk have me transferred from my lab. It was nice in the lab I wasn't responsible for the lives of others and the worst thing that could happen was a simulation failure.... And i had my own quarters.

Personal Log,
Way to go Jax, you screwed up basic hydrodynamics then actually suggested it like it was a good idea. I don't get it, the second the pressure is on I can't seem to remember the basics.
Oh on top of nearly getting us all killed... we are stranded in the Gamma quadrant about 6 years out from the wormhole if we can't come up with a new source of benamite. Now I'd love to work on benamite synthesis but not out here. I don't really like space to many variables.
On a completely different topic, I don't think Mara is taking things that well, we still don't spend much time in the same place but her area of the quarters is messier than normal and she seems to be praying quite a bit more than normal. I suppose many members of the crew will likely be experiencing similar things.
I am not really worried. When we miss our first check in starfleet will likely send a ship with a QSD and then we'll be back home in no time.

Personal Log,
Operation Security, that is like what part one in the starfleet clearance handbook? I can't believe my zeal for finding a new source of benamite actually led me to asking for it from a species we just met. Now they seemed friendly enough fellas but the captain gave me a stern dress down.
At least i did not get us all killed. The data they transfered over might be promising, Mara is feelign much better now that she can actually feel like she is helping find a way home. Which is good because I don't think i could deal with listening to her cry, she really needs to go see Couselor Soran.

Personal Log, Well that was an interesting day, we encountered an old space probe very much like the ones from old earth, the probe itself was damaged but that was repairable. All in all it was a pretty uneventful task. We managed to extract all of the data out of the probe without any sort of extra damage being caused and we managed to fix the antenna due to Rigby's knowledge of archaic electronics.
It's interesting that even though Sparky has been on the Pilgrim since we got into the gamma quadrant this was the first time I've worked directly with him since our time on the Farragut. As he gets more comfortable... i fear what pranks my be coming from the head of security.

Personal Log, I can't believe i got drunk on my first away mission. I got caught up in the role and let my judgement be compromised. So far as I can tell outside of my own embarrassment and a massive hangover caused by a mixture of the alcohol and the combat stim sparky stuck me with there are no consequences.
It was strange having the Commander play fully into the ruse of being a couple. I am just glad the gamble didn't blow up in my face. I am pretty sure that Lt.Commander Trenchard did not approve. We have a source of benamite with a potential for finding an even greater source it just requires us to fly into an ancient debris field and find the proverbial needle in a haystack. The good news is i believe that even if we do not find mor benamite at the location the trader mentioned i should be able to use the benamite gem to catalyze a crystallization process and replenish our stocks naturally, even though that process will take at least a year to get any workable benamite source.
I am not in any rush to get home but I do want us to have the option to get way the hell out of dodge if we need too.

Personal Log, Feels like weeks since I've made an entry, I've just been to damned busy. So the commander and my idea seems to be almost feasible. The math has been worked out and now it is just a power generation problem. Hopefully we can fix that after we make this exchange for the benamite. The alien data core still has a wealth of data to sift through but the preliminary findings are troubling. Apparently around 300 years ago this race was losing a war. It looks as if an old Ambassador class vessel or at least the blueprints for its drive engine was pulled out of time and used to build the basis for their propulsion systems, though reluctant the captain has decided we should get to the bottom of it which means going under cover again as Commander Razzor's spouse. Something that will be a tiny bit more difficult this time now that Mara and I have a redundant bunk in our quarters. I am still not sure if this is the right course of action. Shipboard romances can be hazardous. But Liz, I mean the Commander made good points and I was getting a bit tired of Kerensky's teasing. It is also good to not be sleeping on a converted lab bench.

Personal Log, She's gone. She was right. We pay the price for our arrogance. Spacetime is the realm of the prophets she had said. I bend the laws of physics daily yet I got so wound up with how to do something I forgot the question should I do it. I can't look at myself in a mirror. Hell I can't even look at myself at the bottom of this bottle. The bed still has her scent. I can't sleep there. Computer commence playback, three diamonds.

Personal Log,
Well today could have gone better. I may have a reprimand waiting on me, or I may not there is no way to know with this captain. I had a plan to keep the aegis entity that is no longer a problem from taking control of our systems. I made a judgement call, one I am pretty sure was not incorrect as you don't want to tip of the entity that can cut off your life support that you are going to remove its ability to do so. Either way something completely unexpected happened when we were modeling the power transfer algorithms into the holomatrix and the entity became trapped. At the time I saw this as a bonus, it solved the issue easily, however upon further thinking, there is no way it should have happened. We were not transferring existing code, we were rebuilding code. There was no way the entity should have been trapped in the matrix unless it wanted to be there. Which renders any ethical concerns obsolete as we didn't force it to do anything.
Again the captain ran around me when he got an answer he didn't like or understand. This seems to be a common occurrence with him. Bureaucrats. Either way the ordeal is over, and while my curiosity for what is on the other side of the device will go hungry, I don't mind having control of the ship again. I am goign to continue researching exactly how the Entity was able to invade our systems in the first place in an attempt to devise a countermeasure. That is if I am not in the brig tomorrow.
Supplemental: Maybe I should start teaching Engineering for Command Level asses classes to avoid these issues in the future.
