Star Date: 87999.25
Personnel: Commander Ethan Winegard
Location: USS La Fayette, Sol System
Title of Log: Fleet Personnel
After the weekly meeting I went to the lounge to spend some time talking with fleet personnel. I’m not a big people person but, I figure these people are the ones I have to depend on in a crisis situation so I should know them and get a feel for their temperament and try and forge some sort of bond. After I need to show them I want to be part of this team by participating in team activities.
I began the night talking with Chief Werner, which is always a lively conversation. The chief is a good guy and I would trust him to have my back in a combat situation. Of course then ensign Xoeni arrived. It became quickly apparent that something was wrong. She wasn’t very responsive. Her first action was to angrily snatch a bottle from behind the bar and she actually growled I think. After that she became frustrated for some unknown reason and slammed the bottle on the bar. I addressed her and told her that she should think hard about talking with a counselor and that she wasn’t to have anything to drink. Her response was disturbing. She hissed at me and glared at me, her eyes glowed red. I told her that she either sought help or I would have no choice but to involve her CO in the matter.
Her behavior was erratic enough that I felt obligated to inform her CO, however as it turned out Captain Donaldson arrived in the lounge. I took him aside and told him about the ensign’s behavior patterns. I trust the Captain to get her the help that she obviously needs at this point. I know he had a long talk with Xoeni there in the lounge, I trust the situation is in good hands.
The rest of my evening was spent talking with Lieutenant Vree. I was curious about the lieutenant because I had never encountered his species before. From our talk I discovered that they are an ancient race of clones. Memories are passed down from one generation to the next. Vree informed me that he personally had 6 million years of memories and had encountered humanity some 15000 years in the past. Needless to say it was a fascinating conversation.
I got the impression that he was watching various members of the fleet. And it turns out I was right. Apparently his purpose here is to observe and gather data on the various races in the Federation. It is times like these when I understand the true benefit of being a Starfleet officer, it allows one the privilege of experiencing people, places, and events that your average non-Starfleet individual could never dream of experiencing in their lifetimes.
