Personal Log: K'Matto
In the relatively short period of time I have been on board the USS Adagio, or as it appears most of the crew call her the Lady A, it seems I have managed to make enough of a good impression to get myself assigned to a bridge officer position. While I am delighted, I can't help but have reservations about this. It is one thing to toil away in one of the secondary labs, but to be front and center on the bridge where your work is on display for the entire senior staff is quite another. I worry that I won't measure up. Which is odd, I have been described by some as possibly being over confident at times. It is funny that I should be nervous now.
I have had an opportunity to meet a few of the senior officers, so far they seem quite personable. I met with the captain briefly. Captain Zh'Kor seemed to be a very no nonsense sort of person, very professional demeanor. I certainly look forward to working with such a renowned captain. During my brief meeting with the captain, the executive officer and the ship's surgeon sat in. However, I gleaned that some other matter had most of their attention, something regarding events that transpired while the command officers were away. The captain had both Doctor Jaril and Lieutenant Spectrus in a meeting just prior to my audience with the captain. I was not able to find out any details, but it seems to have something to do with the Hadoran delegation that came aboard just prior to the captains return. Like I said I was not privy to the details, which is the down side of being stuck in one of the secondary labs, but it did seem to cause quite a stir.
I was able to have a more detailed talk with the ship's executive officer later. As it turns out Commander Arnimane is a reclaimed Borg. Because of my interest in cybernetics I find this most fascinating. I have so many questions, but I will likely no brooch the subject with the commander. It seems highly impertainant to ask question of such a personal nature to someone I barely know, let alone a senior officer. Luckily for me it turns out that the commander has a daughter. A most fantastic child too as the daughter, named Ada, is a computer based entity. I am uncertain of her exact nature, computers are not my specialty. Still my interest is peaked. And, seeing as my duties as a science officer require me to interact with the computer on a regular basis I suspect I will have plenty of opportunities to learn about Ada. So I could not be happier.
I also met the ship's master chief. His name is Liam O’Donegan. I had heard some of the crew talk about what a 'hard ass' the chief was. I don't know, he seemed like a rather personable chap to me. The sort of fellow one might have an pint of ale with. I imagine he has many entertaining stories.
All things considered I think I am really beginning to like it here.
