Title of Log: It all ends with Apple Margaritas
Returned back to Sol Station from the Pallme system in time to attend the inquiry into the Stalwart incident. Nyoko has been working very hard on this and I felt it my duty to show my support as much as possible.
I was very glad I went as Commander Hotam must be quite the popular officer. The amount of officers standing behind him on his side of the bridge threatened to make the ship list to port compared to just Nyoko and myself.
I would never want to see a fellow officer rail roaded through the process. But with the loss of a ship, it is necessary to get all the facts into the record and unfortunately place blame accordingly.
This has to be done in a fair manner and I was glad that in the end, Nyoko was able to prevail in that two thirds of the presiding board had a vested interest in the case. They wisely chose to recuse themselves.
Nyoko did not see it this way. She had done a lot of work to prepare an air tight case, but it was not to be. I comforted her at club 47 when I made the re-acquaintance of Lt Alex Halloway.
Lt Halloway, a professional advocate, has assumed the case from Lt Cmdr Honda. Though I imagine Nyoko and myself may still be involved as officers seem to be in short supply these days for administrative matters.
A hearing is currently scheduled to be convened in a week.
I hit the Synthale a bit more then I am used to, but I think Nyoko's fondness for apple margaritas really shone through in the night.
She's paying for it this morning. Hopefully my recommended gift of liquid analgesic will set her right.
