Section 01 – Out Of Character:
1.) What is your user handle?
In game- Vareiya@ssoulfirerising
2.) What time zone are you in?
Pacific
3.) What Starship Do you wish to be assigned too.
The USS Sentinel, Defiant-class, please.
4.) Are you an active forum user? (We highly recommend that you are.)
I am, depending on the community. In an active and mature roleplay community I enjoy posting my character's story roughly as it occurs, averaging a short episode of fiction a week during well paced playtime. In a hyperactive community, I maintain that. In a slower community, I tend to taper off due to lack of engagement.
5.) Are you willing to work with Game Masters as an authority over storylines?
Having spent the last few years GMing a weekly story arc in my previous games (SWTOR & WoW), I absolutely am willing to work with a GM as an authority over major storylines- provided I am allowed to still retain authorship over my own character's personal story, and said GM respects players' OOC boundaries in terms of the sorts of injuries a player is comfortable roleplaying as result of plot. IE- for me personally, no permadeath, no dismemberment, & negotiation on any permanent resulting scars/illnesses/effects.
That said, I am gleeful for a break from the GM seat for a while, and look forward to enjoying story I don't have to push, while lending my avid support to those in the chair till I get the itch again.
6.) Are you subscribed to the "Daedalus OOC" Channel?
Not yet, however I will once I meet with some fleet leadership and get a few last OOC questions answered.
7.) How did you hear about us?
Via a guild member who answered my query into local RP in the storp.org chat channel.
8.) Are you willing and able to put our guilds information in your Character Bio?
I would happily put a link and character sheet stats at the bottom of my character bio profile.
9.) Do you understand the Activity Policy?
I do, and support it. One month of undocumented absenteeism is standard and fair for removal.
Section 02 – OOC Character Inquiry:
Part A: Character Request
1.) Character name?
Lieutenant Vareiya Iyana Oradar
2.) Character gender?
Female
3.) Character race?
Betazoid
4.) Is your character a telepath? (Alien telepathic characters are subjected to DGM approval)
Yes, however she strictly adheres to the Betazed regulation which prohibits reading the minds of sentients without express consent. She may on occasion sense emotions from others if they are being apparently projected through roleplay, but she will not regularly utilize her telepathy unless so ordered by command in an emergent situation, or permitted by the express consent or invitation of an individual.
5.) Select a fleet entry level rank. (Ensign or Lieutenant JG (Junior Grade) ), If Enlisted, select a fleet entry level rank: (Crewman or Petty Officer)
Currently IC she is a Lieutenant on a command track and 'acting' Captain of a small training vessel, due to the current ample war efforts forcing most ranked Lt Commanders and above into full active duty. For this transfer, if retaining that rank IC isn't allowed, it would be appropriate for her to come in as a JG Lieutenant, as she's accustomed to a cruiser, not an escort.
5.) What is your character's Division?
Engineering
7.) What is your basic character concept & history?
Current Bio: Having discovered at a young age that her natural Betazoid talent for understanding people carried over to better understanding their inventions, Vareiya avidly pursued an exciting career in Starfleet engineering, counter to her traditionalist parents' wishes.
Consistently ranking near the top of her class, Vareiya's secret of success was her dedicated research into the history and lives of the engineers that came before her. Her graduation speech as salutatorian was often quoted by subsequent generations of cadets- "If necessity is the mother of invention, then desire must be it's father."
Though qualifying for a (training) command early in her career, Vareiya prefers the excitement of the engine-room and development labs. In times of turmoil however, her people skills serve her equally well leading, as they do inventing.
Additional History: Vareiya left home at a young age to pursue a career in Starfleet very much against her parent's wishes. Like many Betazoid she was genetically bonded as a child to her future intended- one Devin Stadi, whom she presumes is a politician based on what little her parents have told her. They are due to wed sometime in 2410.
8.) Please give a little background about this character.
Vareiya is an unusual juxtaposition of contrasts. Coming from one of the renowned Betazoid noble houses, her manner and poise is calm and often seen as cultured, and gentle. Her tastes however run more adventurous, preferring high risk recreational activities in off time, and an exciting and dangerous career in starfleet over her parent's wishes that she become a school teacher. Additionally, her talents are oddly meshed, as she excels in all pursuits technical and typically 'nerdy', while also having a flair for producing empathic abstract artwork as a hobby.
She graduated second in her class, and would have continued on an engineering track alone had she not lost a dare to a classmate to take the command school entrance exams. It came as a surprise to her how well she did on them, but the courses felt natural and she took to them contentedly, knowing the current wars would need as many strong leaders as starfleet could muster. Her sense of loyalty keeps her on the track, though her heart remains in the engine room, and especially, the engineering development labs.
