This shall be my first log as Chief Medical Officer of the USS Pilgrim, NCC-92481.
My first week aboard the Pilgrim consisted of making myself acquainted with the senior staff. However. That entire week appears to have been lost to the senior staff, leaving me understandably concerned for the health and well-being of the crew. Due to the fact that there is a pressing threat and that they are all performing their duties as normal; it is my professional decision to forgo suspension and a formal investigation as to why they and they alone seem to have lost all memory of me whilst others--such as Acting Ensign Eldax, whom I recently had dinner with--remember me vividly.
My first official mission as the Chief Medical Officer of this vessel included something entirely out of my field; virtual reality. I asked the Captain to allow me to inspect the devices we were to use and I was satisfied the devices were indeed safe and would not cause lasting damage to the Central nervous system, and, to that degree I am still firmly believing my previous assessment. Though while there may have been no damage done to the CNS, they may have been subject to some form of memory wipe. As we all know, erasure of memories is a simple task and multiple species within the Federation have mapped out their brains entirely allowing for selective memories to be erased without damaging others. For this reason, I wish to voice that the species who did get their memories wiped were (A) All in the virtual reality. And (B) all had brains of a similar construct to Humans. As a Vulcan, my brain is significantly different from that of a Human leaving me perhaps incapable of their memory wiping technique.
This is all with the thought that there was malicious intent behind it, it may very well have been a simple accident due to the digital beings known as Safran not having a physical representation of the brain to work with. At this time; I can only speculate.
As for the mission itself, it featured a new administration program being activated. It was an uninhibited AI whom was created by the Safran, unfortunately, this program turned out to be uncontrollable and indeed a dictator-esque being whom had no qualms about killing the Safran--whom it considered to be part of itself and thus entirely under their control. Regardless, after a confrontation and what I can only presume was the crew interfering with its plans, we were returned to the Pilgrim after being trapped by that administration program and the Safran reinstated their old administration program. While I, for lack of a better word, sympathise with the Safran and their realization their 'life's work' is broken, I am, admittedly, far more concerned with the safety of our ship as the malevolent program expressed a desire to take control of the Pilgrim. While computers and engineering is by no means my speciality, I can only assume our people are combing the computer core with the most intensive care.
I surmise that this is not over yet, however, I will do my best to reintroduce myself to the Captain and the senior staff; I doubt it will be easier the second time around.
