Talia sat back in her desk chair in her ready room and let go a long hiss of a sigh in utter disgust. She had been reviewing the data of the past year surrounding the fall of Project Salvation, and the logs of the USS Sentinel such as they were. Her eyes narrowed and the legendary powerful surge of disgust and anger her people could be known for arose in her. She hurled the current PADD, she had been reading with disgust across the room with such force it shattered against the wall. The arrogance, the complacency, the recklessness, the carelessness and even outright stupidity over everyone involved in this debacle almost made her nauseous.
Ada wisely kept silent as she had been answering request after request from Talia on the various Starfleet facilities, ship and personnel involved in this fiasco, eventually concluding with the USS Sentinel/Tigershark incident that brought about the end of Project Salvation. Inclusive now were the real reasons, she and her ship had to step into this mess now and rectify things. She rose from her desk, her chair rolling back to slam against the wall as she went to her window. Beyond the ice cold transparent window she could see the shipyard docks of the 22nd.
and the newest ship called the Sentinel.
A brand new class named for the heroic efforts of the crew. Her eyes narrowed and she rested her forehead against the cool smooth surface. Her mind raced over the blind eye some at command had for reasons of blissful ignorance, or being openly misled due to 'national security' or downright right corruption. Included in this were the various logs detailing the actions of the crew of the Adagio's sister ship, some heroic, others lazy or haphazard, other down right stupid and insubordinate and even more so dangerously stupid.
She hissed in sheer frustrated anger now.
Her mind raced as she took stock of her own ship's current status. The fact they were currently at dock, resupplying...and exposed and vunerable right. A similar situation had once occurred to the fleet almost a year ago at this time, in fact they were coming up on that horrible anniversary. With that memory still burned deeply and wishing to concentrate on something other than the disaster she had just been reviewing she pushed off of the cold glass and strode out to her bridge to the skeleton watch on duty...
Lt. Logan turned to her. "Captain, ahh good...the status..."
She never heard the report as she cut him off by barking out.
"Ada?"
Instantly. "Yes Captain..."
"Unscheduled drill....alert all decks...battle stations"
The alarm instantly sounded as her bridge watch stood stunned for a heartbeat as they all looked up and turned to her.
"How could we have an alert in space dock captain?" the young often arrogant watch officer finally blurted out to her.
She swung her look around to each of them, and said simply to remind them.
"Starbase 234.....I said Battle stations...NOW!"
Ada's voice sounded off on all decks as she was initially instructed.
"ALL DECKS BATTLE STATIONS...ALL DECKS BATTLE STATIONS...THIS IS A DRILL..."
Talia paced some before her chair as the skeleton watch all over the ship prepared for battle and to receive those still on the Starbase who were recalled.
"Ada...start the clock on the drill...and make prep for another run if I am not satisified."
"Aye Captain!"
Talia watched her crew scramble to the drill like with machine like precision, shaken out of their lethargy, by the now legendary images of the Starbase caught by surprise by the Iconian attack on the morning that began the war they had just fought so very hard to survive. All over the ship the watch began the drill...
