Roleplayer's Handbook
Part A: Character Request
1.) Character name? Lonah
2.) Character gender? female
3.) Character race? Klingon
4.) Is your character a telepath? (Alien telepathic characters are subjected to DGM approval) No
5.) Select a fleet entry level rank. Lieutenant JG (Junior Grade)
5.) What is your character's Division? Tactical
7.) What is your basic character concept & history? A warrior of a dead house. Recruited and used as a weapon of war, but now finds herself at odds with the new reality as peace returns to the galaxy.
8.) Please give a little background about this character.
The Dominion War took its toll on the Klingon Empire. Once such casualty of the war was a minor house defending a colony world. A much supieor force of Jem'Hadar were in enroute to take the world and House Valkris was its sole defenders. They had already lost ships and their crews to the war and now they would face they final hours of glory facing against the enemies of the Empire. They put a dent in the force, only at the cost of every ship and every warrior stationed on the planet when the Dominion invaded.
Starfleet manage to send ships to repel the attackers and manage to save part of the colony. Still far too late to save the warriors of house Valkris save one, an eight year old kligon child, Lonah. She had been involved with the ground combat, watching memebers of her family die heorically and honorably against the Dominion forces. She was the last standing admist a battlefield where they held the ground forces. Her d'k tahg having finished off her mother who was mortally crippled but lingering, Lonah was alone. Later it would be revealed that the enemies of Lonah's hourse took advantage of the chaos and swept away the remnants to promote their own agendas. That insult left Lonah very, very, angry.
A warrior with no house and no standing, Lonah refused to join another house. Despite several having presented the opportunity, Lonah went on her own. She was too young and too angry to deal with her people's politics. She accepted an offer with Starfleet officer to be relocated into Federation space as a refugee. There plenty left without a place to go and Lonah self-imposed an exile upon herself till she was ready to go back to the Empire. With the goal of reviving her house. It would take time and effort and no one would give her a second glance much less the chance to bring a dead house back from the grave. She would have to make herself a warrior who could not be ignored by her fellow Klingons. An ideal that conflict could not destroy the most determined of hearts.
An easy goal to dream about, but much harder to pull off in reality. Very much a Klingon, Lonah took a chance and learn about her adopted culture. The Federation offered a plethora of learning opportunities and naturally she was drawn to the various warrior cultures. Not just the ones from Earth, but Andorian, ancient Vulcan, everything. She wanted to reinvent her previous ideals without straying from who she was. A saying from a martial arts philosopher stuck with her, 'No way as way. Limitation without Limit.' She struggled at first to understand what these ancient warriors spoke of. It often conflicted with her own people ideas about honor and conflict. Then she had an epiphany; change comes from within first, then out. Learning new techniques and the latest in technology was not going to change her fortunes or make her a great warrior. In fact, the first real slip up would probably make her into a monster reviled by all living beings.
So at the age of sixteen, what makes person better? New challenges to test her beliefs and to test her convictions. Basically to live life but take one step forward and to embrace it. Even if it meant sometimes being her normally volatile self.
It was not long before Starfleet recruiters heard about the mistakenly dispossessed Klingon. They came to her with an offer to further her training by helping Lonah get into Starfleet academy. Their goal ultimately was to get her in with a newly form organization whose mission was to deal with the Borg menace. This faction was the basis for the future Omega force. With her self learning proceeding at a slow rate, Lonah saw this as an opportunity that would open even more doors. It most likely would give her the status among her people as she fault about the all powerful Borg.
Then the Undine infiltration occurred, and the war with the Gorn, which resulted in the war with the Klingon Empire. To say Lonah was disappointed would be an understatement of the century. Add to it her superiors concerns about where her loyalties lie. Going through the academy while conflict was going between her people and the humans made her time there 'interesting'.
Not everyone thought she was out to get them and Lonah bore the rest of her time in the Academy in typical Klingon fashion; racking up several discipline reports. Once she finally graduated, she was sent for further training with members of the former Borg Taskforce. It was worth while, but she was starting to see more conflict dealing with the Undine and her own people than Borg. It was until the Omega Taskforce was finally called up that she began to see upfront combat with the Borg.
Defaria was the world she saw the most, battling off the Borg from assimilating it. While stationed there she dealt with the Breen and their many abuses of the Defari people. Some might even suggest she was all too happy to do so. The work continued until the Iconian war began. All units were regulated to the front lines in various efforts to stop or hinder Iconian aggression. Lonah saw a great many of her friends killed during the war for no effort gained in combating the fearsome foe. She almost joined them, yet her tenacity and combat powress saw her through the last battle she would see against the Heralds. Having found herself back on the klingon colony world, she faced the same odds as before. This time, her training paid off and she was able to bring several of her time meets through till a science vessel came along to rescue them. Later she would find out that that war was over and gladly conceded that the Iconians lived up to their reputation as powerful fighters.
A comment from her CO let in her record amusingly says, “Breen, Borg, Undine, now the Iconians. The galaxy thrown its worse at her and she's still comes through. I'm starting to think this Klingon can't be killed.”
The only thing that Lonah's career could not with stand was draw down and reallocation of forces. In the midst of change, she was looking into joining the Terran Taskforce when she received orders out of Omega Force. For all her work, she was promoted from Chief Petty Officer and given a commission as Lieutenant junior grade. That was the best Omega Force command could do, lamenting loosing one of their best soldiers.
Lonah was not exactly thrilled with it herself.
Lonah's last few assignments were testing devices for the Terran Taskforce. Allowing her access to the weapons and armor. (rather she still has access to it I'm asking for GM approval. I’ve rather enjoy having a micro-photon torpedo mounted on the character > )
Ten percent of Lonah's missions have been redacted in her records. Ranks of Captain and above are exempted. They mostly involve missions off the books concerning Breen incursions, Undine investigations, even missions taken into the Delta Quadrant. The latter half involving the Iconian involvement.
2366 - Lonah is born
2374 - House Velkriss falls to Dominon forces while defending a colony world. Other Klingon factions wipe remaining memebers leaving Lonah the sole survivor.
2375 - Lonah becomes a Federation citizen.
2384 - Lonah enrolls into Starfleet Academy at the behest of recruiters.
2388 - Graduates and enlisted into the Omega Taskforce.
