Fleet Command is now toying with the idea of changing the day of the manditory Weekly Fleet Meeting from Sunday to a day better suited to the most fleet member's schedules.
I want you all to vote for the day you think would be the best to hold this other meeting. also id like to hear your comments on the idea...you can also include a timeframe youd like this meeting held. Currently the Meeting is held every Sunday at 5:00pm EST.

Secondary Meeting is unessercy. If player base wishes to change it from Sunday to a more suitable time. I am down with that. But if players aren't making one meeting it's likely because they don't want to be at that meeting or they don't find it good usage of there free time. (Players who have prior obligations excluded from this). The getting stuck with "I don't have time" excuse for online communities is often a translation to, "I don't want to spend my time on this," Believe me. They have free time. Those who are still having fun are making the free time. I would readjust this poll too What day Players want to have there Weekly Meeting on. Then going forward make that the mandatory meeting for the new recruiting that we will be working on obtaining in the future.
We also need to consider a rework of how divisions will be divided up. Also my want to demand less, and put more pressure on GM's to do events, since they are the keepers of what goes on the Fleet Daedalus Omega Storyline.

I agree with Nyoko on this that people don't come to the meeting because they don't want to. changing the day may help or it may not. I am not inclined to have two meetings. I would like to see a weekly fleet social however. Just thought I would throw that out there. I also agree that the GMs are the key to the fleet success. The problem I seem to be having is generating interest in scheduled events.

Despite being one of the ones who can't actually make it on Sunday, I do agree with Nyoko. Same reasoning.

I have a feeling one of the reasons Brian is making the suggestion for a second meeting is to include more people in activities they can all be a part of and contribute to. If my hunch is right, it is less about the meeting and more about just actively getting people together. Not everyone shares the same comfort level in group interaction and more neutral events can ease people making connections. If information is properly disseminated then meetings by default are unnecessary, however, human interaction provides a profound catalyst.

I see your reasoning... and i'll have to say I agree with it. I do however want to hold more fleet-wide social events to get everyone together and keep them informed on the goingson. Some members dont like to check the forums very often and spend most of their time ingame. Ill start a new thread and poll and move these replies to it.on secondthought.. i can just modify this one... lol

(Players who have prior obligations excluded from this). The getting stuck with "I don't have time" excuse for online communities is often a translation to, "I don't want to spend my time on this," Believe me. They have free time. I don't agree with this statement at all...I've been working 60-72 hours a week since I've left. I'm on-call around the clock...so my freetime consists of spending time with my wife and sleeping. All of which have a priority greater than any online community/commitment. "I don't have time" has a lot of meanings. Broad, sweeping statements only do yourself a disservice for making them. There are always a number of reasons for peoples departures. You're welcome to your opinion...but it was hard for me to give up the game and leave my online friends. I still manage to find time occasionally but it's few and far between. I still follow the boards though...but time to sit down and play is hard to come by since i'm usually at work when I check the boards. My personal opinion on the meetings was and is that you should schedule them for a day and if you get a lot of drop outs...try to be flexible if you feel attendance is that important. Schedule it for the beginning of the week sometime(like a Sunday) if no one RSVP's, workout a reschedule time.

...so my freetime consists of spending time with my wife and sleeping. Perhaps you can create more free time for STO if you combine your current two free time activities into one and just sleep with your wife when you aren't working or playing STO. *snicker snicker*

It is true that we shouldn't have implied that everyone who doesn't come to the meeting does so because they don't want to and it is also true that sometime "I'm too busy" means exactly that. However, since no one, other than a select handful of people, ever comes to the meetings anymore we have to assume the worst. I am pretty sure that everyone is not in fact too busy to come to a meeting or an event at least once in a while. When events and meetings are scheduled and no one, save one or two souls, even show interest its safe to assume people have lost the desire to participate.
