Title of Log: Welcome Back Laurel
Phew! It’s been quite the home coming. The Varina was given a month’s leave from the front lines to rest and refit back at Sol Station.
Who do I run into first? None other than my supposed “lost” brother, Chief Werner. He hasn’t spoken of the sample he sent me or the test results, and I figured it best not to ask. All he really asked for was a ship to stay on for the night. Some things never change.
I had my list of friends and family I wanted to look up and surprise when I received a surprise of my own. Our new Vice Admiral put out a call for a rescue operation. Rescuing none other than Commander Nyoko Honda. Not the reunion I was hoping for.
I can’t say rightly how she came to be chained up and pumped full of drugs by Orion pirates, but I can say it was rather intense getting her out of there. I must've used up a week of phaser power packs in my rifle before we got her out of there. And I was mainly there for medical support. Can't imagine how many power packs the others in the rescue party went through.
I’ve been making a pest of myself to the medical staff who are overseeing Nyoko's care ever since we got back. Her detox is going well. She is going to make a full physical recovery. Her prognosis is quite good.
The main concern is now PTS disorder. She needs that like a hole in the head on top of her prior burdens. I understand the fleet is throwing her a bit of a happy recovery party, which I hope will go towards helping her.
Planning a trip planet side as soon as possible for a stop home. Might take an afternoon off to do a little old fashioned fishing with a pole. I can hold off dressing the fish and keep them raw for Nyoko. Wonder if they can make sushi out of shad. Might have to do some research into that.
Four days back in home territory and already so much going on. Makes silent running on the border of the neutral zone seem like a picnic. Can’t wait to see what this week brings. And who it brings me back into contact with.
Well, for now at least, I can relax with for real Eikleberry Tarts to go with my Rakt. Some things just can’t be replicated.
