Despite the state of the ship, the crew, and her relative peace of mind, Val worked. It was one of those things that kept her mind from worry about her injured friends. She had great faith in Billie Jo's abilities as a doctor, plus the awesome members that made up her medical team. Plus, having the gift of hospitals that were eager to help them help ease her worries. So that left her with work to do. Elusive budding career as a pirate had netted a large amount of useful data. She stole everything but everything was encrypted. It appeared to be more advanced than what the murderous Tzenkithi would capable of. Maybe she was under estimating them because of their genocidal tendencies and she equated those actions to being grossly stupid.
"No need to underestimate them. We want, we need whats hidden here. And if someone is helping them make those horrible weapons then they need to be stopped too." She petted the stuffed pony that survived the ordeal and looked at the digital one. "Well, Captain Longjohn Elusive, ready to crack this code?"

Elusive watched with worry and concern over her friend Val as she waited for her to begin. The rush and excitement of her own little adventurous moment had long since faded. She had only now been wondering did Mr Always Grouchy ever have an extraction plan? When she just hopped aboard his wrist PADD she hadn't really heard him tell Stoggy to bring them back...
...or was she remembering this wrong? Hmm she pondered this as she watched Val work through some emotions of her own.
She knew Val will want to truly make some good use of this stolen database of hers, to make up for not being on the bridge when the attack hit. This confused the little pony some, all she herself could think of was Thanks the stars Val had not been up there, given that everyone up there had either been killed or horrifically wounded when Jon failed to avoid the torpedo and Varel's weapons had jammed on her.
Elusive sighed and then snapped her head up at....
"Well, Captain Longjohn Elusive, ready to crack this code?"
In an instant Elusive was now clad in a long brown pirate coat, a pretty pink eye patch as well as her animated Captain's hat emblazoned with a skull and crossbones on it. She waved around a little wooded cutlass and cheerfully called out to Val...
"Arrrr I be ready Val!" Her little animated parrot squawked from the pony's shoulder.
"Lets pilfer the booty and see what sekerts da boogers have...arrr!"

Val laughed at her companions get up. Too bad the ship was in bad shape, they could go to the holodeck for a themed code cracking session. "Okay, let's take all the precautions nessacary to make sure this doesn't go up in smoke if the encryption has some kind of destroy feature. Let's start prodding the code to see what it will give up." She starts running the decryption programs to begin analyzing the structure of what they were working with. Perhaps they could determine an author of the encryption. Could be someone else, could be the Tzenkathi. It was time to find out.

Elusive pranced around in her little pirate outfit as she monitored and assisted Val's encryption program as well as search for hints and clues to its background. She suddenly smiled HUGE and exclaimed...
"Ah HA!" Right before she slumped into a frustrated pile of Pony Pirate....
"Awwww Crudgemuffins...." She said annoyed, quoting a friend of hers.
"Well Val..I've got bad news and sorta good news on the encryption...." She pouted some.
"The type of encryption is a mean old 'tear sheet' or One-time pad encryption...." She scowled. "That means...the data is protected by a mean old encryption technique that cannot be cracked, to solve it requires the use of a one-time pre-shared key the same size as, or longer than, the message being sent."
She huffed now. "In this technique, a plaintext is paired with a random secret key which is also referred to as a one-time pad or tear sheet. Then, each bit or character of the plaintext is encrypted by combining it with the corresponding bit or character from the pad using modular addition. If the key is truly random, is at least as long as the plaintext, is never reused in whole or in part, and is kept completely secret, which makes the data here impossible to decrypt or break."
"Normally these kinds of codes are rarely used unless on a rally special mission or operation...and not that often as one might think...."
She looked up at Val, and cutely blow her soft mane out of her eyes...."Someone is being very serious about this data not being shared with others..."
She brighten a little. "However we sorta have caught a break here....I recognize this code pattern and I know who wrote it...." She scowled some in confusion. "It just doesn't make sense that the Tzenkethi are using it too.."

Vladimir took a deep breath. This covert stuff always got on her nerves. "Okay, who uses this pattern?"

Elusive looked right at her. "Val..this is an older Starfleet Intelligence cypher....used a long time ago by Operatives from Project Salvation..."
"This particular method and encryption was based on one that was written by an Operative Aquarius..."
"Val...that is Commander Razzor..."

"Val...that is Commander Razzor..." Val blinked at the news and frown. She held that look for quite a while as her mind worked through complex calculations. She would get to the emotional response to her friends surprise in a few moments. That came rather quickly, "Son of a bitch." Val had to bite her tongue and let her temper go. She took a few calming breaths and resume her more gentle, logical, mind set. "okay, we know that she's not helping Salvation anymore because it's a broken mess and a lot of the key players are gone or put away. So this could have been a previous operation that could be spawning its final result and the Tzenkathi is," Val demeanor breaks and she slams her fist down on the console, "Dammit! What is wrong with these people! I thought she was better than this. Why the hell are they using her ciphers to commit mass genocide against innocent races that can't defend themselves!"
Val got up and paced around the room, fuming. "She was such a nice woman, she even made you acting Ensign. This sucks, this totally sucks."

Elusive cringes waiting for the eruption she knew was coming....she lifted one little hoof and was about to head this off when Val slammed her fist down on the desktop. Everything on the desk rattled and shook including the SPADD and its pretty little pony. Her little pirate parrot flew off in terror as the world of the SPADD was shook. Elusive held on for dear life as her friend ranted on and began to pace. Elusive shook her head and waved her little hooves....
"No No! Wait Val!" She called out as she jumped up and down. "Nononononono! Wait! Wait!"
The little pony excitedly pointed at the data scroll on the SPADD next to her. "She...Aquar..um Liz..wrote this code back in 2408 for Salvation...she never used it for anything other than Project and Starfleet Intelligence missions!!"
She pointed to another series of data numbers and cried out. "I think this encryption was either stolen or used by someone in the know...Liz can't know someone is using her work like this!"
She looks over at Val and says quickly. "I only pointed her out as in...well Liz can help us crack it...she has like an eidetic memory doesn't she??"
"I mean she can help us crack what should have been an uncrackable code encryption!" Elusive pants and still waves her little hooves as her pirate hat falls off her little head.
"This...this right here Val...this is a good thing..."

Val stopped to listen to Elusive. She sat back down looking meek and feeling slightly stupid for her outburst. "Sorry," she said. She reached over to put the little pirate hat back on Elusive as she listen to the rest of her diagnosis and suggestion. "Right, lets set up contact with her so we can get to the bottom of what the Tzenkathi are up too."
