Now that they passed the part where someone was trying to murder them all. Val was back on her project investigating the Minister of Truth. A strange character that stood out in the Tzenkathi genetic hierarchy with more authority than he should have. The fact he was directing the murderous aliens to search for Syndra was disturbing. She tapped the extent of her resources on the ship and now she needed to venture forth for help. That meant taking up Elusive's idea to talk with their ship board intelligence officer. Logically, there was really no other choice and hopefully, he had the contracts and resources on hand to further this investigation. She hope to the deities this would go well.
With the extensive repairs being performed by the Sentinal, Val was curious to see Victor during ship repairs. Well, the more hands the better. She waited for a moment to sort her thoughts before speaking. "Victor, can I have a word with you? I need some help with an investigation I've been working on."

From Val's SPADD a little voice said.
"Um...maybe he didn't hear you Val?" She paused.
"Maybe throw something hard at him?"

The only things Val had on hand were a stuffed pony and the SPPPADD, and she would never defile those precious items with casual violence. "Noo, oh," Val coughed into her hand before saying, "guess what Victor. I came down to sleep with you!" That should get his attention and everyone else within ear shot.

Victor almost immediately appeared at her side, a hydrospanner in his hand.
"Well. You don't have to tell FNN about it."

A little pony's voice could then be heard....
"Okay.....Ewww"

"I was kidding," Val said. "Actually, I need your expertise as an Intelligence officer concerning research I am doing. About the Tzenkethi and a possible connection to rogue elements of Project Salvation. Interested in helping? Because I really need your help."

A look of disappointment flashed across Victor's face, but then a look of interest.
"Oh, Project Salvation. That's one of my areas of expertise. I'd love to help, but I'll need any breadcrumbs you have first. Maybe we can talk about it over dinner?"

Val sighed, "If you want to do it that way." It would not hurt to get the know the man after all. She was depending on him to do dangerous spy stuff. She poked him in the chest, "but this is a working dinner. Nothing else. Got it? This stuff is too important to be fooling around with."

(bumping the thread)
So it was going to be dinner. Probably for the best because Val did not want too many ears getting into their business yet. Granted, her daily report to the Captain, XO, C'son, and Elusive, and a CC to Decia were the only exception to her caution. Also noting that she was going to be using their Intelligence officer for further investigation probably was also a good idea too. Now on to the briefing.
There was a nice selection of music, nothing romantic but nothing heavy either. Food was going to be nice, simple, and tasty. Elusive was giving the job of overwatch just in case, but Val figured that an interesting case would prove more interesting than trying to seduce herself. She was willing to give anyone a chance at least once. Once everything was done she sat down on her couch. All the ponies were relocated other parts of quarters; just to provide seating space. She sent a message to Alton letting him know that she was going to be having a 'business' dinner with another crew member so she would be busy for the evening. Of course, she already discussed with Elusive that the pony should go tell Alton of any funny business and have him come up to her quarters to beat hell out of the intelligence officer.
Everything was set and she was more than eager to see what Victor could bring to the table.

((Sorry I tend to miss things
In a few moments, there was a "ding dong" at the door. Once Val let him inside, she would instantly notice that Victor's hair is even more meticulously styled than usual, and his goatee is freshly trimmed. He smells of English Leather cologne, and in his hand is a bottle of fine wine. The label indicated that it was a bottle of Chateau Picard, bottled in 2387.
He smiled. "Good evening, Lieutenant. Such a pleasure to be here."

"Thank you for coming," Val said, letting Vic inside. She offered a seat. "Would you like something to drink now, or move on to dinner and the reason I needed to see you about."
Once everything is settled she goes on, "okay, what do you know about the Tzenkethi?"

(bump)
"So, the reason why I invited you in on this is that I think remnants of operation Salvation may be working with the Tzenkethi." Val showed Victor the captains logs from the other ship, while scant, they do have some information. "The captain talks about a Minister of Truth, who falls outside the naming convent of the Tzenkethi themselves. As usual, they would have a name their position, the rank, and the grade of their genetic stock in their caste system.
"Yeah, Minister of Truth kind of stands out rather suspiciously. Also, you might note, that the logs were encrypted using older Salvation encryptions. So, whoever or whatever, this person is has a lot of political clouts to pull ships off their genocidal mission to go out to a Klingon mining world. It would seem they may have been on a mission to claim the girl we found down there, Syndra."
Val sits back, sipping her drink thinking.

Victor sighed and sipped from his glass of Chateau Picard.
"It wouldn't surprise me. Project Salvation did accumulate an impressive rogue's gallery. The name of the position itself suggests an influence familiar with Terran politics. It also suggests that this crumb was planted there for a reason."
"You see, Lieutenant, if Project Salvation was good at anything -- it was covering their tracks. Over the course of over a hundred years, their stock-in-trade was secrecy. A massive, independent organization which amounted to a type of shadow government existed for years with much of the Federation blissfully unaware. I don't think a participant in that Project would make such a glaring error."
"I can look into it, but I may need a data dump from a Tzenkethi computer. You may not know it, but I'm tremendously skilled in the field of computer science. I might be able to find something useful."

Since they started their insane genocidal path. The captain logs are all that we have at the moment from the other ships we fought."

Victor shrugged.
"I have some contacts at Starfleet Intel... I can ask around, maybe have some of them look into it. But the bottom line is that we need some kind of data to analyze. If the Captain approves, I'm sure we can probe around under cloak, maybe find a Tzenkethi asset. Maybe a communication array or something. When it comes to computer system intrusion, there's nobody on the Sentinel with a higher rating than myself... and not a whole lot of people outside the ship have that kind of rating either. I'm sure I can get in and find something useful."
"Otherwise, we'll have to work with what we have -- which is probably not much. The intel database is broad, but it might not have much useful information. We need to get it right from the source."
