Billie Jo blinked several times as she glanced around the sick bay, she was not exactly sure what was going on. She distinctly remembered taking the proton blast to the chest, that hurt. Then she remembered everything going black. Now she was standing here watching as Doctor DeSoto and Nurse Sharel worked to save her life. It seemed odd to her that she could be watching such a thing, especially from this angle. Outside looking in. But, none-the-less that is what she was doing. Her body lay there on the bed, her uniform jacket scorched black from the proton energy blast. According to the monitors her vital signs were flat lined.
“Am I dead?” She asked. No one replied.
Donald DeSoto looked across to Nurse Sharel, “Charge the Cardiostimulator to two hundred joules.”
The nurse nodded and carried out his orders. DeSoto grabbed a hypospray off a nearby tray and jabbed it into her neck. Billie Jo assumed it was Leporazine. It could have been some other recitative drugs, but Leporazine is what she would use. She winced slightly as her body twitched when the Cardio stimulator was applied. It did not seem to work, as her vitals were still flat lined. And, watching it all made her feel uncomfortable. She had a sinking feeling that this was where her story ended. But, the fact that she seemed to be standing here as a disembodied spirit gave her renewed hope that there was in fact a life after death. So she felt things were not all bad.
Billie Jo's attention was drawn away from the fight to save her life when Decia and Alton entered sickbay in a rush, carrying Victor between them. Billie Jo noted how Victor didn't look so good. In fact he appeared to have lost a lot of blood. Her instinct was to rush over and try to help, but she realized that it was no longer possible. So she just stood there and watched as Doctor Dallas and Nurse Donogan rushed over and began working to save his life.
Billie Jo moved in closer for a better view, “I told you so.” she says looking down at Victor's incapacitated form. She glanced over at the monitors. Based on his vital signs the prognosis seemed bleak. It was at that moment that a terrible thought popped into her mind. Would she get stuck spending all eternity with Victor? She glanced around the area and didn't see him walking about. She breathed a sigh of relief.
As the medical teams were prepping both patients for surgery, she wondered what she was supposed to do now. Would someone come along and claim her? A reaper maybe? Would there be a light she is supposed to head into?
She looked around curiously, “Well what am I supposed to do now?”

Billie Jo starts to grow increasingly impatient as she waits around sick bay for her 'just reward' or 'forever after' or what ever she was waiting around for. She had not quite figured out what that was exactly. She started to consider that perhaps she was still waiting because her physical body was not entirely dead yet. Perhaps there was some sort of rule, that prevented her from being taken before her time. So she waited. She wasn't the only one it seemed. Alton Bale was enjoying a bag of Twizzlers as he waited. This annoyed Billie Jo.
She scowled, “You are not allowed to do that in sick bay. Take it to the mess hall.” she said huffily. Alton ignored her. He simply offered some to his fellow Deltas.
Billie Jo sighs, “You could offer me some.” she pouts, “I like candy.” she says. She is of course once more ignored.
Her attention is caught by movement from the corner of her eye. There was movement out in the corridor. She could not be sure but she could have sworn someone or something ran past wearing a cloak. She felt her heart skip a beat. “Was this it?”
She moved hesitantly toward the door. She was both curious and terrified. She peeked out into the corridor. There was nothing in both directions, save for a couple of Delta troopers relaxing in the corridor. She saw no reapers, spirits, specters, goblins, or other strange apparitions. She could not help but feel disappointed. She decided she may as well wander around. She she turned left and headed off down the corridor.

As the doctor rounded the corner of the corridor she came up short when she almost ran into another who was standing just beyond the bend. A lovely figure swaddled in a tight black leather looking outfit, long black silk like hair, with a face of pure emotionless porcelain. The almost human face cants silently as she regarded her old physician. A soft almost musical voice from beneath the mask sang a haunting yet familiar song to her.
"Lark, nice lark.. Lark, I'll pluck you..."
She could feel another presence behind her, which sang back to the figure before Billie Jo. The second voice was identical to the first...
"Lark, nice lark ... Lark, I'll pluck you ..."
In tandem both voices from behind their emotionless masks sang as one to her. Their lovely voices haunting and devoid of any emotion, one before her and one behind...
"I'll pluck your back..
And your head... And your beak ... And your back..."

Billie Jo skidded to an abrupt halt at the sight of the twins. She was mostly confused, but there was that faint chill running up her spine that she always got when seeing the Gemini twins. It was a reflex that she found she could not control. In spite of recent more friendly interactions with them, the pair always inspired a certain dread in her. She glanced at one and then the other behind her. "Tabitha? Serena? What are you guys doing here?" she asked, uncertain which was which. Her voice had a slight catch to it. "Wait, you two are not moonlighting as angels of death are you?" she asked her tone was facetious, but, edged with a faint cold fear.

At the 'Angel of Death' comment the one before her look up in unison to the one behind. Both of the women canted their heads as if in silent communication with one another. Their soft emotionless masksseeming only to heighten the surreal silence between the two.
The one in front of the doctor said in a gentle yet eerie voice. "Up the airy mountain..."
"...down the rushing glen," came the sweet distant voice from behind.
"We dare not go a hunting..." Said the first turning its black empty eyes to meet hers.
"...for fear of little men!" Finished the second from behind as she lay a gentle hand on Billie Jo's left shoulder.
"You see," They warned gently, their twin voices becoming one now. "nobody ever goes in and nobody ever comes out"
The before kept her gaze as the one behind continued to keep a gentle touch on her shoulder.

Billie Jo considered the twins with a slight smirk, "Was that a warning? or do you just have a fondness for poetry? I am familiar with that one, The Fairies by William Allingham?" she stated before cautiously surveying her surroundings for little people. She give the twin in front of her a serious look, "This is not what I expected it to be like, being dead. I guess I sort of expected, you know, a tunnel of light or a choir of angels. or at least having deceased family here to greet me." she explained.

"It is both..." The one before her said softly.
"...of course we have a fondness" Came from behind.
"...for poetry."
Together they answered, "You read that and others to us so long ago."
"You are not dead yet, dear doctor." Said the one before her.
"Yet you remain for the corruption to find." Said her twin.
"We will remain close for you..."
"...and do what we can."
"When it comes for you..." They said together.

Billie Jo had a rather cryptic look on her face, she was either hopelessly confused or terribly disappointed. Most likely both at once. "I am not dead?" she stated quietly. Her tone indicated that she was actually a little sad to hear that news. "What is this corruption you speak of? Is this one of her minions? You know the Dark? Or is this some different monster?"

"No..." The Twin before her shook her head at the question of her death.
Her sister added gently from behind. "...not yet."
"Yes..." The first twin said.
"...we know if the Dark." Her sister added.
The first canted her head slightly as Billie Jo asked the latter question. "The Corruption is no mere minion..."
"...to quantify and see." The second offered.
"minds and mentalities..." Said the first.
"...corrupted and broken" offered her sister.
"from the noxious words..."
"...and infectious actions"
They both recited in unison, "by the repercussion and influence of the people we once knew."
"The corruption is not her..."The first stated.
"yet it is her most powerful tool." finished the second.
"For the corruption she will send minion upon from you" The first locked hr black gaze into Billie Jo's eyes.
"No, when they come to feed...the corruption that they find..."
Together, in chorus. "is within you."

The words of the twins seem to hang ominously in the air for several long moments as Billie Jo seems to consider their implications. Her eyes take on a hunted look. “Within me?” she asks. A look of horrified confusion on her face. “What are you saying? That I am corrupted?”
Billie Jo exhales sharply as the full weigh of this begins to dawn on her. “What am supposed to do? How can I fight something, someone so powerful? I have been told the Dark is, that she is a god. I can't fight that.”

The Gemini before her said softly. "You alone would know this dear doctor..."
"What voices whisper to you still as you lay in the dark before sleep..." Asked her sister from behind.
"Or do the voices still scream..." Says the first.
"...for a mercy that never comes?" finishes her sister.
The first Gemini cants her head as she considers her question before saying gently. "Do Gods bleed?"
"A question long asked by man..." Said her sister. "An answer hunted and debated..."
"But often just beyond one's sight..." Said the first.
"...but one you must ask this night..." Her sister nodded.
"If you are to survive what darkness calls her plan."
The one before her lifts a gentle gloved cant to touch the Doctor just under the chin. "If she bleeds..."
The second presses close from behind to whisper into Billie's ear...
"...can she then be a God?" Then together in a sympathetic almost pitying tone...
"Why Physician....heal thyself."

Billie Jo shook her head slowly, "A great philosopher once said that there's no problem so awful, that you can't add some guilt to it and make it even worse.” she stated before pausing long enough to release a small sigh. As I recall the gods did bleed, but that didn't make them any less immortal."
There was a rather lengthy pause as Billie Jo tried to recall something she had read a long time ago.
" Blood follow'd, but immortal; ichor pure, Such as the blest inhabitants of heav'n May bleed, nectareous; for the Gods eat not Man's food, nor slake as he with sable wine Their thirst, thence bloodless and from death exempt. ”

It was at this time that Victor rounded the corner of the corridor, coming to an abrupt halt as he saw Billie and the twins. He was wearing a uniform with a silver division stripe; that of his former employer, Project Avalon.
"Oh... you're here too?" He spoke as he looked toward Billie.
"And... you two, as well." Victor eyeballed the twins.
"I guess today is full of surprises."

At the sound of Victor's voice Billie Jo turns a cold eye toward him, "You know this is your fault?" she says then pauses long enough to shake her head. "You shot me! I can't believe you shot me!"

"And yet...deicidium..." Says the first twin.
"or more commonly...Deicide. It is a term coined by your quoted Greeks..."
"If the Gods of Ancient lore could not be vanquished...where are their temples this day?"
"To Athena...to Aphrodite..."
"Did Apollo not fall to a Starfleet crew?" They says in one voice.
The first of the two sighs. "Why arm the very Deity you seek to stand..."
"...you may run..." Her sister says...
"...you may hide..." Say the one before Billie.
"Surely...the cover of shadows will conceal you...yes?" The say in unison.
