Lonah stared out the window into the deep space. Pondering recent events against their enemy. It seems at this point the Darkness was to be her enemy and she sealed the deal by firing upon it. It was a futile gesture against an opponent of superior power, but no one was going to say that Lonah did not try. The incident on the bridge did not weigh heavily on her mind as it would someone else. Punching officers had been what got her sent to the Adagio in the first place and she was punished for the affront to command. She did not like being benched when there was work to be done, but at least she had the opportunity to train and retrain her skills from the future conflict. She felt that was going to be the case with this thing and it's brainwashed minions. The races that remain in this galaxy were not safe as long as they continue their objective enslavement of everyone to the Darkness. Of course, after their hard work in exploring the new galaxy, some of those races were gathering together to hold them on against the coming darkness. This was good as they needed to face this threat by standing up to it. If the Federation had to do it, they would never become strong enough to stand on their own ever again.
So that left the Adagio and her crewmates. How the hell did they come to the conclusion they could make peace with the Darkness. The last few minutes had been strong indicators she did not care for such a thing, only capitulation. Embrace her and enjoy her version of peace. Peace through grinding other lifeforms under her cloven foot.
She walked away from the window, looking for the Captain. There were still on alert so she was free to walk the ship. She had a few questions for her anyway so what go ask them while things were relatively quiet.

Talia stood in the far forward lounge of the Adagio's massive bridge/ Above the Strat Ops CIC and ust beyond the main viewscreen on the bridge the lounge afforded quite a bit of privacy and isolation during the late night watches. Her gaze seemingly rested on the two starships, Pilgrim and Argentina as they finished their repairs and were making final preparations to once more get underway and proceed to the Citadel. Her jaw was set as her eyes drifted beyond the damaged ships to the stars beyond. This most recent pirate attack bothered her some, not so much as they had just barely missed their new enemy as they arrived on sight...but more so that she had not expected such a swift withdrawal from the pirates. They had exhibited a strong sense of tactics, clearly born of generations of living such a life. As such they had not reacted as she expected and had fooled her.
It was to be the last time she allowed that to happen...
She had both over estimated them as an opponent and underestimated them as a threat. She would not make such a mistake, this were not people doing such for just profit...this was a lifestyle for this race...either by choice or ..
She quirked a brow as she went over their tactical and strategic options in her mind over and over....was this life forced on them?
"Ada...." She said in thought.. "Please play Boccherini's Sonata for harpsichord and violin for me..."
She closed her eyes as the music began...as she once more went over the tactics and recorded strategies of this race thus far.

Walking onto the bridge, Lonah makes her way forward to the Captain. A familiar spot where they had so many interesting conversations before. No doubt, this would be one as well. She peers at the ships as they finished the last of their repairs. "Looks like they are almost ready to go. Are we going to be following them back to the Citadel?"

Talia's strategic reverie was broken even before her Delta Operations officer spoke, clearly sensing her arrival and seeing her reflection on the transparent aluminum glass of the lounge's massive window. She smiled at the question gently and nodded her head in answer.
"The Pilgrim is already prepared to return, both they and us are just waiting from the final word from the Argentina now." She looked to the reflection and nodded once more.
"Yes, we are to escort both back safely to port..." She stood there with both hands clasped behind her back, the wrist of her good arm held in the metal fingers of her new hand.
"Hopefully once there we are issued orders to immediately turn back to continue our exploratory mission...I am eager to get back out into the night..."
"As I imagine you are as well Chief.."

Lonah frowns quietly. "Normally, I would. Now, not so much. Recent events make me wonder if we should even be here anymore. We're giving the people that reside in this galaxy a chance to live their lives once more united in camaraderie. That is good." Pause to think of how to phrase the next thing. "I think our efforts to bring peace to this galaxy may ultimately sabotage that."
"I'm sure you read the reports about what happened with the encounter with the Darkness. I was deeply dismayed how everyone wanted to give her a chance to talk peace. After all we have seen in this galaxy that originated from her design. She offers the olive branch in her bloodstained claws, everyone forgets. It is the same with all the encounters are ships are having with her agents everywhere. Peace only on their terms and with the threat of force behind it. All that time my opinion was disregarded and I was treated no better than a thug with a gun. I had hoped we would stand against her united, instead, we fractured and scattered. Maybe that was a failure on my part. Perhaps I was too quick to resort to force instead of standing back and letting them see for themselves what kind of devil they were getting involved with.
"Of course, that meant sacrificing the bridge crew to a monster." Frowns some more. "I couldn't stand for that. I still like some of these people, even when it turns out they have no respect for me. So I guess I'll just stand back and wait to be useful. When my expertise actually matters for something."

Talia smirked a little as she listened to her and took a moment to consider what Lonah had just said before answering. "Project Magellan was and is an Exploratory expedition Chief, our goals were to simply climb the mountain just to see what was on the other side, because at its base heart...that is what Starfleet is supposed to do."
"We ended up discovering more than we expected...but say this wasn't the Large Magellanic Cloud...say this was an unexplored region of our own galaxy..and we encountered worlds devastated...people in need but a powerful enemy has them under its heel...and some of those besieged races have asked for our help? Do we just turn around and go explore somewhere else...because it is safer for us? Do we ignore those cries for help? Why does it seem to matter to people recently just what part of the universe we are in? "
"No..." Talia shook her head. "We do not run away from the neighborhood bully Lonah" She looks over to her. "We help simply because we can..." She looked back out into space as she added.
"Its who we are...its is what we do."
Talia was quiet for a long moment after this, she then looked back up to Lonah's reflection and nodded. "Evil always wears a pleasing face...sings her charms with a pleasant voice...and truly only deceives when she speaks..."
"Any such offers of peace from a being such as she is always on her terms and never will be honored." She nods to Lonah. "While I do not condone the extreme parts of your behavior during the encounter, I surely understand them."
"The sad part Chief...is you failed to a degree as well, you allowed her to bait you, to use you to create the image of the gun toting thug...and then she used that image of you against your shipmates to further increase the rift."
She looks back to Lonah over her shoulder. "She outplayed you..."
"Just as she did the others and did so brilliantly...she played to their strengths and used them back at them." She shakes her head. "She took the best qualities within them and spoke to each letting them cling to the very notions that make them good people..."
"We all are raised and trained to seek out peace through a unified strong sense of community...so seek out mutual levels of peaceful compromise..which she offered them the hope of...if only they helped her...the hope that they could be the one to broker peace...never seeing they are handing her the very thing she seeks...appeasement..."
Talia shakes her head. "Appeasement only encourages an aggressor..." She then chuckles.." You know the old saying...'Give a mouse a cookie...it's going to want a glass of milk..and so on..."
"In the end..your heart was in the right place...it was your far too quick aggression that played right into her hands..."
Talia's antenna rose some as the next classical piece began to play from her playlist..
She chuckled softly and nodded to Ada's selection. "Fiting Ada, thank you..."

"Of course not Chief..." Talia said.
"But you also should not let her get so far under your skin, that an idiotic and immature comment From Commander Kodor has you lose control after the encounter and deck him on my bridge."

Shakes her head, "I did not lose control. I paused to contemplate my next actions before acting on it. His joke was disrespectful to the bridge and seat he was in. Not only that, he decided to bring my senior NCO into it as well. As far as I was concern his goal was to humiliate me in front of the rest of the crew for not wanting to listen to any more of her lies. Bad enough we faltered when we should have opposed her. I also have to suffer his contempt as well?"

Talia turns to look at her at this. "Are you kidding me?"
"Of course you don't Lieutenant..." Her voice icy and even. "However, what you do not do on my ship is take matters into your own hands...and strike a superior officer."
"If you have a charge to make concerning such blatant disrespect from one of your superiors, especially one made in front of your fellow shipmates and your subordinates...you charge them...and make /damn/ sure it is reported up the chain of command...and I /see/ to it he is punished."
"You never take matters into your own hands on my ship..." Her eyes are fixed and locked into Lonah's. "On this ship the final authority of law is /mine/."
"By taking matters into your own hands...and striking a superior officer on my bridge, you are disrespecting me and my authority...on my ship ...in front of my crew." Her tone remains cold. "In a sense doing to me, with your actions what was just done to you...and I /know/ I have not earned such a display of disrespect towards my command."
"This is a Federation Starship and Starfleet has rules and regulations...that both of you violated...When a superior officer behaves as such, you follow those regulations and report them and I see that his insensitive, disrespectful ass is punished."
She turns to look back out the window and shakes her head some. "My ship...my keth is not ruled by the fist...that is not how you get justice Lonah,... ever."
"I would've thought you understood that by now....that while personally I may have understood your actions...I can never condone the way you handled it."

"I don't expect you to condone my actions. I understand the regulations just as well, but sometimes, sometimes, you need to make a noise loud enough so it's noticed. Rather you want to see it now or deal with it later, you have a growing problem in the ranks. Blame me if you must, but it's there." She did not expect to get both barrels and an impromptu captains mast by coming to her, but that torpedo was fired and gone. "She's come after your keth now and as you elegantly put, won. I agree."
Lonah cocks her head. She spelled it out well enough. It wasn't her problem anymore. She had a family once and they died. She was not going through that pain again. She will do her role as a fighter for the ship, what was expected. "Anything else, Captain? Otherwise, permission to leave the bridge."

Talia sighed and set her jaw, she took a deep breath to swallow what was a mild annoyance from boiling over to anger. She took a long moment to steady herself and keep her reserved exterior. She turned and looked back at her for a long moment, assessing and getting a read on her attitude before she looked back at the stars.
"No point to it now after that Lieutenant..." She shook her head disappointed. "You've just made that loud and clear.."
...you're dismissed."
