Personal Log: Stardate 95846.2
Computer, begin a personal log. Audio only.
Today was my first day on duty. The first week of my time aboard the Pilgrim was spent in quarantine. I found the experience to be rather draining on my mind and was eager to begin my work.
After a quick introduction to the crew.. Made amidst a briefing… I was assigned my station in the laboratory. Fortunately, it is hidden away in a corner where my brightened viewscreen will be less likely to bother the other scientists in my department.
With what I gathered from the briefing, the Pilgrim is in the midst of a diplomatic mission. I did not have expectations my particular background would be relevant to this sort of assignment. I was correct in my assumption, however the Chief Science Officer, T’Ghor did assign a peculiar case to me almost immediately. This ship currently holds a cloned subject exhibiting abnormal neural patterns. Scans revealed an odd lack of essential chemical transmitters in non-vital parts of the brain. I filed a full report on this subject, detailing the entirety of my findings. I was grateful for the opportunity to so quickly contribute my knowledge and assistance to the Pilgrim.
I worked with the Doctor Delancey on this assignment. She is the Chief Medical Officer aboard the ship. Because I do not have formal medical training, I wanted to ensure I provided a positive first encounter for the Doctor. I learned many species, including humans, value what they call a first impression. This view of others often dominates their psyche and influences all subsequent encounters. I believe I impressed the Doctor with my expertise. I also expect she will be quite pleased if the solutions I have devised for the subject yield positive results. But, as the humans say, only time will tell.
I look forward to continue working with and learning about the crew.
