OOC Note: The following thread is just me exploring some MU story ideas. Why? because.
Time: The present
Place: The Mirror Universe: Somewhere deep in Terran controlled space...
Billie Jo Spencer stood in a ready stance in the middle of the training dojo. The air in the room had an icy chill to it and the light generated by the rooms light panels was barely able to fight back the encroaching darkness. But, she did not seem to be bothered by this. She was calm and focused. Shadows danced playfully around her chasing what little light there was in the room. She stood in a ready stance with a thin dagger clutched in her right hand. Her normally baby blue eyes now jet black within black. Those eyes remained focused straight ahead. A look of intense concentration on her face.
She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, “The darkness has no beginning, neither will it ever have an end. For it is eternal.” she softly spoke the words with deep reverence for their meaning. As she did the shadows slowly began to form around her.
She began her kata, each motion flowing into the next with the precision of a machine and the grace of a dancer. Each controlled motion of her body and blade were mimicked by the swirling shadows. The temperature in the room continued to drop. Again she did not seem to be bothered by it. She breathed in and exhaled slowly, the water vapor in her breathe visibly condensing in the cold air.
She stabbed at the air with her dagger, “Where the light cannot go, there abideth darkness. The light doth but hollow a mine out of the infinite expression of the darkness.“ she spoke and the shadows seemed to respond favorably to her.
She continued her exercises with even more intensity, each precise strike leaving a trail of shadow behind in the air. It was impossible to tell if the shadow was copying her or if she was copying the shadow they were so closely synched at this point. As she prayed to the dark it whispered back to her. And what it told her was that she belonged to the darkness. And, knowing she was the Dark's chosen instrument against the growing chaos brought her comfort.
Billie Jo felt the approaching footsteps even before they reached the door. It was her chief aide and strategic operations officer Morgan Hale. She returned to a ready stance and exhaled sharply, the shadows withdrew and the room brightened. A moment later the door slides open.
Morgan came to attention, with a sharp snap of his heels. “Pardon me Doctor, but the Empress has sent for you.” He stated in the most business-like tone.
Billie Jo smiled, “Understood.” she replied as she headed to the locker room to change into her uniform.
