It was early morning on the Citadel and Lieutenant Caterina Canado was curled up on the couch in her temporary cabin on the station. She was still wearing her pajamas and cradling a hot mug of coffee. As Cat stared blankly off into empty space Viki was across the room, sitting cross-legged at the holographic entertainment console playing a very intense game of Klingon Warrior Crush.
Viki clutched her controller and stared at the display with intense concentration a self-satisfied grin on her face as she gutted one more player avatar with her Bat'leth weapon.
"Bwah ha ha, a warrior's death for you!." She shouted into her headset.
Viki turned excitedly toward Cat, "Cat! Cat! I only need four more bat'leth kills and I get the Bat'leth Massacre badge!"
"That's nice Viki. Good job." Cat auto-replied, her eyes still unfocused.
As Viki returned her attention to accomplishing her kill streak, Cat's PADD started beeping indicating she had a message. Cat picked up the device and looked at the screen. The message was from Captain Razzor. The message simply read, "You should listen to this report. But under no circumstances are you to let Viki hear it.". There was an attached recording. The title was a rather cryptic project Revival. Cat put in her earbud and started the recording.
Across the room, Viki excitedly shouted into her microphone, "Today is a good day for you to die!"
After a few minutes, Viki glanced over toward Cat and immediately noticed the look on her face, it was a mix of horror and sadness. Cat wiped away the tears with her sleeve.
Viki canted her head slightly, "What Cat? What is wrong? I swear I am not hacking! These losers really do suck this bad." Viki said and then paused as if listening to something over the headphones. The little hologram spoke over the microphone, "Well it's true, you do suck at this game and I am coming for you!" she announced. Viki looked back at Cat and smiled innocently and laughed, "mic was on."
Cat forced a smile, "Nothing is wrong Viki. My coffee was still a little too hot."
As Viki turned back to her game Cat continued to watch the small hologram, realizing how much this new information changed things.
