ok... i just saw that cryptic beat me to the punch. My IC ship's class was supposed to be Horizon-Class, but cryptic already gave that name to the ugly Olympic-class variant with the forcefield hull. so, that leaves me in a bind. I have to come up with a new name for the ship class our Fleet's Flagship. I would like everyone to help me come up with an appropriate name. I want the ship class name to have the same feel as Horizon-Class, like always moving out, pushing the boundaries, forever exploring, ect... info on the U.S.S. Independence and the supposed Horizon-Class can be found at these links.... www.knotcomputing.com/omega/index.php?title=USS_Independencedaedalusomega.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=engineerigndatbase&action=display&thread=462ICly, there are eight Horizon-Class ships built. they are named: U.S.S. Horizon U.S.S. Independence-A U.S.S. Megellan U.S.S. Columbus U.S.S. Ponce De Leon U.S.S. Armstrong U.S.S. Ballard U.S.S. John Kelly - named after the famed commander of the Ares IV mission to Mars in 2032. so, everyone post your ideas and suggestions. I dont want to hear any smartmouthed or joke names, just serious suggestions please. Ill pick the best one after like a week of leaving this thread open. Signed, Rear Admiral Brian S. Donaldson Commanding Officer, Fleet Daedalus Omega Flagship: U.S.S. Independence NCC-93027-A

Just a thought, since the ship class is intended for exploring why not name the design for the patron saint of explorers; Francis Xavier.

Keeping in the idea of exploration, why not the Magellan class?
Named for Ferdinand Magellan, the first to circum-navigate the globe?
Or the Victoria class named for his ship, since there seems to be a USS Magellan already?

The Victoria from what I remember from my maritime archeology class was a big ship.

The Victoria from what I remember from my maritime archeology class was a big ship. Lt. Commander Tomirian Concorian already is in command of a U.S.S. Victoria, so that name is out the window.

Honestly, I would name the class for a Non-Human name, potentially.
One name I really like the sound of for this, however, is the name "Marathon." Oddly I think it fits.
EDIT: Also, looking at the Indy's Page makes me want to get one together for the Damascus... I really need to get it a proper Dedication Plaque specifically.

I was thinking how about Pathfinder Class, Trailblazer Class, or Pioneer Class.
Oh yeah and what software do you use to do those ship dedication plaques?
