Meeting up with the Gamma Orionis Fleet Organized by Fleet Admiral Grigori Yanishev I proceeded to represent the Daedalus Omega Fleet as one of the Primary Vessels that would lead the Assault Group. The mission was to be simple, infiltrate the Gamma Orionis Sector and engage the Borg. The attack went well for the first half of the operation and we had slowly begun to gain ground on the Borg that seem to not have expected such aggression from the Federation, however, the tides turned and borg reinforcements arrived and this when the losses began.
In the USS Kendra, I led a group of Escorts into battle against a Tactical Cube, we greatly under-estimated the strength of the cube thinking they wouldn’t upgrade their systems to meet ours after the various conflicts they've had with the Federation over the Years. The USS Diligent was the first ship in my Squadron to go down, but I could not remorse their loss in the middle of the battle as we had much more to still be done. We would lose two more vessels in my Squadron with the death toll of my Squadron alone reaching close to one thousand dead we stayed on task as it was our Objective to push back the Borg this day. With fewer targets to choose from the USS Kendra began to take on serious damage, our various systems started to fail and not wanting to withdraw I had to do what was in the best interest of my crew. I ordered the retreat of the remaining ships in our Squadron to proceed back to the Transwarp Gate to regroup with the primary fleet.
The Fleet Admiral ordered that my Squadron proceed to the Sol System for needed repairs. At this point we did as we had been told and proceed to Earth Space Dock for a short leave. The USS Kendra's Injuries staggered somewhere around sixty and we suffered thirty casualties at the end of the mission.
Personal Note: We did our Job but at what cost. The Borg has advanced closer to the Transwarp Gate and I fear they may use our own Gateway to infiltrate the Sirus Sector. I have arranged a meeting with Star Fleet Command to discuss my opinion and hopefully it will be heard.

Sub-Title: USS Kendra Memorial Service
After our losses from the Borg Counter Attack against our fleet action, and after arriving safely at Earth Space Dock we had to say goodbye to the following Staff of the Kendra who have lost their lives in the Conflict:
Ensign Capra Demora
Ensign Dennis Wood
Ensign Catra Vima
Ensign Steven Vox
Lieutenant Chris Carrion
Lieutenant Mino Malez
Lieutenant Mark Fethron
The Twenty Four Others that have lost their lives to defend Star Fleet's Goals are chartered on other Captains Logs. We had to borrow crew members from two other vessels on a volunteered basis as a few of the USS Kendra Crew had suffered casualties during our time around Deep Space 9. I want it to be recorded at the loss of life this day will not be forgotten and that no one had died in vain. Those who died to protect those who are now alive died doing just that.
