Personal Log...
Where to begin? I am so so mad at the Captain!
She wants to start a war with the romulans?
Its the duty of Starfleet NOT to start wars. They lost thier homeworld to a nova. We should be extending an olive branch to them not hugging them all the way to god. I make it a point to always try to be upstanding. Sure I have my booze and the occasional smoke, But I avoid breaking the major and most minor taboos in fleet. I pride myself with being able to work with anybody in a friendly and upstanding manner. But not when it violates my own ethics.
When I was a boy, Clev and I used to take our BB guns and shoot at hornets nests. One day we got a little too close and man oh man did we get stung badly. Thats whats happening here. I object to her starting an intentional war. She was a POW of them and got interogated. I understand why she would want to be a little eager for revenge. But thats not my way of doing things.
She had the audacity to say there would be a formal board of query reguarding my refusal to follow orders. I have a bad feeling my career is about to be cut very short. If it is, I am going to buy myself a freighter and haul cargo. Thats assuming they dont transfer me so far away that you will need a blood hound and a ouja board to find it on a map,\.

A Captain Wineguard has offered to help me with mounting my defense should this go to JAG. Though I dont see it getting past the investigation stages. To be honest Captain Honda either has that much clout or I am in the right that much. Either way I know this is going to be more then likely swept under the rug.
Captain Honda is a good person I think, and I am now trying to look at things from her perspective. I I was in her shoes how would I react/feel if a subordinate questioned what I was doing. All I can think of is, If I was doing something that violated somebodies code of ethics I hope they would speak thier mind and not let me think that what I am doing is the right thing.
Too many times has the wrong thing been covered up by saying "I was just following orders." Thats the key about whats going on here. It was used in the 20th Century on earth by the Nazis, By the Cardassians who occupied Bajor, even by the Jem Hadar and the Vorta. I am not somebody who will follow a blind order. Sure if its a routine patrol I would be willing to.
"I Dovan Alcar having been appointed an officer in the United Federation of Planets, as indicated above in the grade of Ensign do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United Federation of Planets against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter."

When I am asked for my final Statements I am going to read this into the record:
When we violated the Treaty of Algeron by expermenting with a Cloakng Device I thought for certain that there would be an outcry from the public about our saftey being violated as well as the loss of Federation Integrity being lost. There wasn't.
When the Soong Group appealed to the Federation Supreme court seeking setent rights for Artifical Intelligenc, Starfleet once again reared its head and said No. This comming from a group who's Motto is to seek out new life.
To seek out new life, To find new civilzations. That is in the charter of the Federation. The Charter is a sacred document, Written bu our founders, our men and women who made the federation what it is, Not through the sword but by diplomacy.
We, as ship commanders not only have the power, But the responsiblity to our crews to the federation to question any and every situation that could be detrimental to the integrity of the Federaton. Detrimental to the oath that I took. The Oath Captain Honda took and the oath every single one of us here has taken.
Free speech and the Freedom of Expression cannot and should never be squished, I did not yell fire in a crowded thater, I did not scream Shaka When the walls fell. I asked for confirmation that these orders were legimite. As a Commanding Officer it is my right to see the attack orders. Let me repeat that. am allowed to see the copy of the Attack orders.
When I was not given the confirmation orders, I said I cannot follow this and I cited the from my own personal ethics why I could not, I cited that I felt the order was unconstituional. I cited the Federation Charter and the General Order I felt it violated. Under the Articles of the Dominion Surrender Treaty which cover when and how the oblgation of a soldier is to disobey orders they feel are immoral.
As I have stated, I am a bolian that means I thrive on social contact, speaking against the crowd is something I have a hard time doing. But I am a former Ethics professor, I also have a distinct code of honor that I follow. When I am asked to kill I want confrmation, Because I am an explorer, I signed up for Fleet to do missions that require me to seek out new life.
I don't know how that sounds I wonder f its too long?

If anything this generation of Federation citizens have proven that they are okay with altering the ideas of the federation charter. Are we that kind of officer or citizen? Will that be our legacy to the Alpha Quadrant?

I will close with saying that the biggest tragedy of our times is in the climiate of fear that we live in, the biggest threat to the Charter, to the mind is wrapped in the cloak of anti undine activities.
I appeal to your good senses when I say that Captain Parker and Lieutenant Alcar are officer, Lieutenant Alcar and Captain Parker are officers. =====================
There the cleaned up copy of my closing arguement. I will ket Captain Wineguard handle the opening and witness statements.

*Partial Video feed* *A crowded Mess Hall*
Damia is playing on a piano. There isa huge buffet a live band up on the stage, a giant ice sculpture of Alcar is in a oversized punchbowl. There is a large cake in the shape of Alcar in a prison jumpsuit.
Damia starts up singing,
"The Counselors that are in Starfleet, we wear teal around our neck, If you don't listen to us you will be relieved oh heck!"
The crowd joined in with a chourus of, "Oh I dont want no more of this Starfleet life, Gee ma I wanna go home!"
A large one eyed klingon started to bellow out next, "The klingons Engineers in the Starfleet they say we are mighty fine, If one of you worms calls me lucky I will stab you in the spine!"
The crowd chimed in with a chourus of, "Oh I dont want no more of this Starfleet life, Gee ma I wanna go home!"
Chohott and Clev put an arm around each other and began to go "Bap ba bap ba bap ba.. Oh the Bolians in Command staff, they say we are mighty bright, We fix systems through the day and female crew through the night! Oh We dont want more of this Starfleet Life gee ma we wanna go home!"
A very drunken Alcar appears abrely standing up, "Oh friendships with a commanding officer they say are mighty rare, Thats why I end up shooting off my mouth and weasling out of jail!"
The crowd laughed and continuied to sing, "Oh I dont want more of this Starfleet life.. Gee ma I wanna go home!"
It was a large chested blond vulcan woman who spoke up next, She cracked a rare smile, "Bolians in starfleet they say they are profound, But listen to this vulcan she will outthink you all around!" Ravenna then slammed down a full goblet of Cognac and the crownd blared out the chorus.
*Feed Ends and the next date to appear is of Alcar with an Icepack on his head he looks hung over.*
Personal Log, SUplimental...
We were given a reprimand and a demerit. But I still have command. I am estatic about that. There has been talk about me going into the Diplomatic Corps. So long as they dont break us up, I am all for it. If Worf can have a Defiant for diplomatic needs I can have a Centaur.
