"I can't say I've ever cared for kanar, but father always said that I should accept gifts graciously." He stepped forward and looked at the setting on the table, glancing around for any sign of the Administrator. Pulling the chair out, he carefully seats himself. "I must say, you've been a surprisingly hospitable host, but I can't help but wonder why I'm being treated this well." He looks down at the tray, the cover reflective enough to see his own face staring back.

Location: Unknown, Stardate: Unknown -- Three days after Tolar Demor's abduction to the Mirror Universe
Tolar glanced around, flanked on each side by armed guards, being escorted through many a twist and turn. The halls of the Mirror Project Salvation complex were very ornate and neatly kept, befitting a state building. Figures. If Tiberius' counterpart were to be believed, this version of Elizabeth Rendino had her sights set on becoming Empress some day. It's only appropriate that she made her living space into a palace. The corridor he trekked through was long, isolated. The wall panels had changed as well, from spartan and utilitarian to luxurious and... feminine. At the end was an elaborate stained glass door with the Project Salvation emblem proudly etched into it. If it weren't representative of something horrifying, he'd almost think it was impressive. Clearly, this was a room of great importance.
Two possibilities shot into his mind -- a command center of sorts, or... the Administrator's quarters. The more he thought about it, the more plausible the latter scenario was. Whatever this room was, it was far removed from the other chambers to make assassination attempts more cumbersome, down a long corridor designed to build tension as you draw closer, and the stained glass door was a very personal touch. Yep, these were the chambers of Elizabeth Rendino, alright.
He looked down at his outfit. Lilac sweater, white collared undershirt, khaki pants, and boating shoes. His idea of casual dress may have been more formal than most, but he wasn't exactly dressed to impress. Hopefully, this wouldn't be the Terran equivalent of a state dinner. Oh, well, he thought. Still better than a prison uniform. The fact that he was unrestrained and given proper clothing struck him as odd, given his being a Cardassian in the midst of quite possibly the most anti-Cardassian group of beings to ever live, but things could be going much worse.
The guards grabbed his arms and brought him to a halt in front of the door. One leaned over to the door panel, tapping the chime.
Let's just hope it's not about to get that much worse...

Esteemed Cardassian Ambassador killed in Embassy bombing, son confirmed missingPublished 11:12 AM, August 14th, 2421 - Stardate 94680.11 • Federation News NetworkAmbassador Rolin Demor, pictured in 2419.The bombing of the Federation Embassy on Cardassia Prime has claimed yet another casualty, raising the death toll to 69. Rolin Braben Demor, age 71, was identified via dental records near the epicenter of the explosion in the Embassy Stateroom. Demor was responsible for negotiating the Federation-Cardassian Treaty of 2385 on behalf of the Detapa Council, and has long been a champion of improving Cardassian-Federation relations. Authorities believe that recent efforts to conduct joint missions between the Federation Starfleet and Cardassian Defense Force, spearheaded by Ambassador Demor, may have been the catalyst for the bombings. "Pride of Cardassia may be cowardly and barbaric, but their speech to the planet resonated with some measure of truth," a member of the Capitol City Police Force said to FNN, on condition of anonymity. "Farmers are having a tough time selling local crops in a market saturated with imported foods from the Federation. In some sense, an element of Cardassian culture is being suppressed in favor of the foreign and unfamiliar. Traditionalist conservatives may have been radicalized by this idea that the Federation is taking Cardassia away from Cardassians." "We may be seeing the birth of another rebellion similar to the True Way with the rise of Pride of Cardassia," Federation Ambassador Jiro Sugihara said during an FNN roundtable discussion. "Cardassians are a prideful people whose culture is founded on tradition and rigorous discipline. It's reflected in the name these terrorists have adopted for themselves. They may see the shift towards pro-Federation stance as desecrating their culture, their traditions, and damaging their legacy... their pride." Perhaps the most bizarre element of this story is the whereabouts of Ambassador Demor's son, Starfleet Lieutenant Tolar Rakim Demor. While he was confirmed to be present at the Embassy during the bombing via security sensor logs, authorities have yet to identify him among the injured or any of the remains uncovered. Speculation about his whereabouts runs rampant among Cardassian media. It has been an open secret in political circles that Ambassador Demor and his son haven't been on speaking terms, leading some to conclude that Lieutenant Demor aided the Pride of Cardassia in bombing the Embassy. Others believe that he may have been taken hostage for use as a political weapon. Capitol City Police have begun canvassing the area in search of Lieutenant Demor. Civilians and officers with any relevant information are urged to come forward with tips on subspace frequency epsilon-61799.

Estimated death toll: 68 dead, 92 wounded -- expected to climbPublished 8:58 AM, August 14th, 2421 - Stardate 94679.98 • Federation News NetworkThe Federation Embassy on Cardassia Prime, pictured at 0813 hours local time.Ten hours after the Federation Embassy bombing that rocked Cardassia Prime, Cardassian authorities have completed their initial survey of the bomb site and identified at least 68 dead, including some of the Federation's most revered diplomats -- Ambassador Christopher Stevens of Earth and Ambassador T'Laru of Vulcan. In response to this late breaking news, Federation President Aennik Okeg released a statement via Press Secretary Vera zh'Maora. "The losses of Ambassador Stevens and Ambassador T'Laru are deeply felt in the Federation today. Jointly, they were responsible for drafting the treaty that brought Federation-Cardassian relations to their peak following the Dominion War. It's tragic that their work was undermined by such a horrific act that cost them their lives. We grieve with their families today and reiterate our commitment to bring the perpetrators to justice." Almost a hundred more people were injured via cascading damage as a result of the explosion -- shrapnel and falling rubble injured several civilians and officers in the building and on the streets below, many of them critically. Capitol City Medical Center has stated that as many as 23 survivors may succumb to their injuries. We will update this story with more information as it becomes available.

Cardassian insurgent group claims credit for Embassy bombing in anti-Federation broadcast Published 11:23 PM, August 13th, 2421 - Stardate 94679.76 • Federation News Network
A movement calling itself 'Pride of Cardassia' has claimed credit for Sunday's bombing at the Federation Embassy in Capitol City. In a planet-wide broadcast that aired just moments ago, an anonymous figure made the following statement:
"Rolin Demor and the Detapa Council are selling out the integrity of this planet and its people, and in doing so, they are laying waste to the livelihood of our farmers, our miners, and those who bravely serve our military. For decades, we have been dependent upon the bosom of the generous, benevolent, well-meaning Federation to provide us with food and materials. These disadvantageous trade deals and treaties have left farmers with fields of crops that have been devalued in the domestic market by a vast variety of imported foods, miners made redundant by imported industrial replicators, and our military has been defanged and neutered since the end of the Dominion War. We have been made subservient to the Federation, only independent in name. Gone are the days in which Cardassia could take pride in itself, now all of our accomplishments are being outsourced to foreign powers. That changes today."
Sources speculate that this bombing took place in response to ongoing negotiations between the Detapa Council and the Federation Council to arrange for joint missions between the Cardassian Defense Force and the Federation Starfleet.
"The Cardassians are a very prideful people," one source in the Cardassian government said to FNN, on condition of anonymity. "Being so dependent on other people for so long has damaged that sense of pride, and these talks have likely fanned the same flames of discontent that erupted in the True Way movement all those years ago. I don't think that distrust, that xenophobia, has really gone away in some parts of our society. The Dominion laying waste to our population centers at the very end of the war has caused a great deal of paranoia among older people when dealing with alien species."
Federation President Aennik Okeg released a statement addressing the situation moments ago.
"What happened on Cardassia was beyond any rational understanding. While I and many others hope and pray for the civilians and officers that were in the area, we must remain vigilant as to who perpetrated this attack and be ready to bring the perpetrators to justice. Once the situation is contained, Federation personnel will move forward with a thorough and independent investigation."

Federation Embassy on Cardassia bombed Published 10:57 PM, August 13th, 2421 - Stardate 94679.72 • Federation News Network
Chaos erupted in Capitol City late Sunday night as a massive explosion rocked the Federation Embassy on Cardassia Prime. As this just happened moments ago, details are scarce, however, sources report that the detonation originated at the east wing of the building near the living quarters. Cardassian authorities are on the scene attempting to contain the fires and manage the crowds. As of the time of this writing, we are unable to confirm any identities or the number of people who were in the area at the time, but early estimations based on initial surveys of the site suggest as many as fifty casualties.
We will update this story with more information as it becomes available.

At least we saved all the escape pods from that burning Starbase... albeit with a few scratches.

Jon and I played the Kobayashi Maru simulator with a guy from New Zealand. We only saved 12 out of the 384 crew aboard. RIP.

From: Lieutenant Tolar Demor, Cardassia To: Lieutenant Commander Decia Maxima Valerina, U.S.S. Sentinel NCC-99014 Cc: N/A
Subject: Sponsorship
Dear Ms. Decia,
Congratulations on your promotion! Frankly, I'm surprised it hadn't occurred sooner. While I'm sorry to tear you away from your work, I do have an offer you may be interested in.
I will be competing in an invitational round robin mixed martial arts tournament in the Capital City on Stardate 98456.39. Each competitor is allowed to sponsor one individual for entry, and you were the first person I thought of. The practice of Cardassian martial arts disciplines is extraordinarily rare off our homeworld, so I believe this presents a unique learning experience. Please let me know whether or not you are able to attend.
Very Truly Yours, Tolar Rakim Demor

From: Lieutenant Tolar Demor, Cardassia To: Lieutenant Commander Sinez Kodor, U.S.S. Adagio NCC-99691-B Cc: N/A
Subject: Flight Simulation
Dear Mr. Kodor,
I regret that we never got the chance to make another attempt at that combat simulation you and I tried last year. While I’ve been home, I’ve taken to the occasional bout in my family’s holosuite and I’ve found a program you may enjoy. It’s a recreation of the Battle for Deep Space Nine during the Dominion War, set aboard a Peregrine-class fighter. Maybe you’ll be more successful without a co-pilot holding you back?
Very Truly Yours, Tolar Rakim Demor

From: Lieutenant Tolar Demor, Cardassia To: Lieutenant Amalia Hamilton, U.S.S. Protector NCC-95312 Cc: N/A
Subject: Invitation
Dear Ms. Hamilton,
I will be competing in a mixed martial arts tournament here on the homeworld and I would like to extend an invitation for you to come spectate. While you were a formidable sparring opponent in your own right, I believe that this competition has much to offer in the way of exposing you to new disciplines and self-defense techniques. The event is scheduled to take place on Stardate 98456.39.
Additionally, I would like to express my sincere relief that your career hasn’t suffered because of my mistake. It still weighs heavily on me, but with the help of counseling, I’m working through it. I hope that your duties on the Protector haven’t been too boring in my absence. Please give my regards to Lieutenant V'Tira, and my sincere apologies.
Very Truly Yours, Tolar Rakim Demor

From: Lieutenant Tolar Demor, Cardassia To: Lieutenant J.G. Denise Daniels, U.S.S. Sentinel NCC-99014 Cc: N/A
Subject: A Taste of the Alpha Quadrant
Dear Ms. Daniels,
It’s been some time since you and I have shared correspondence. It appears you’ve had quite the busy year since my departure from the Sentinel, including a well-deserved promotion, for which I’d like to extend my sincere congratulations.
I’ve been on extended leave on the homeworld, and my much-needed time in therapy has inspired me to reach out to people who have been a positive influence. While we didn’t have much time to socialize, I appreciated your decidedly unusual enthusiasm for Cardassian cuisine and culture. With your distinct palate in mind, I’ve created a replicator pattern for a traditional dessert with an unmistakably human spin and attached it to this message. I hope you’ll find it enjoyable.
Very Truly Yours, Tolar Rakim Demor

From: Lieutenant Tolar Demor, Cardassia To: Lieutenant Jonathan Cameron, U.S.S. Sentinel NCC-99014 Cc: N/A
Subject: Baby On Board
Dear Mr. Cameron,
It has come to my attention that you and Ms. Alice Walker are expecting some sort of cyborg child. I would like to extend my sincere congratulations on becoming a father and making an absolute mockery of reproductive science. Truly, this is an historic event that will be recorded in many a medical text.
I’m not sure whether you’ve heard of the incident that happened on the Protector, but suffice to say, Commander Asada and I are no longer on speaking terms. While I continue to work with mental health professionals here on Cardassia to move through this difficult period, I would like to help prepare you for your own challenges that lie ahead. I have attached the definitive Cardassian text on child discipline for your reading.
Very Truly Yours, Tolar Rakim Demor
