That is so true Cygnus. I think that is the hardest thing about playing a science character. As a character science officers are among the most clever in the fleet. And as a player you want it to be established just how clever they are without effectively short circuiting the adventure and ruining everyone's fun by being too clever. Not to mention the fact that as a player I am not where near as smart as Ezri is supposed to be. And, I have zero training as a Starfleet officer. I haven't even watched all the Star Trek shows. I can completely relate in struggling to successfully role play a character far smarter than myself, we do not have the advantage of a triple "A" Hollywood production team to make us look good either. You are an excellent role player and writer, so let us use those strengths to help get us where we wish to be. Envision writing a story as the event unfolds and what your character can do to help that story get told. Excellent character interactions and dialogs, dramatic tension, etc. I will even give an example from our last event. The start was a little rocky, but I soon recognized Kitty set up an environmental threat for tension, then later introduced the Kzari which we have a more adversarial relationship with as the key element for tension and player agency. You all got to see what I did as Shantal's player. All guided by trying to help Kitty present the best story she could and actively involving as many player characters as I could, while keeping the key plots points in clear focus and staying true to Shantal's character nature. We do not have to be rocket scientists to create a great interactive and continuously growing story together.

Science is tricky for many reasons. The game master may have main plot points they hope to get properly expressed and engaged with in an event, thus leaving those to player agency can negate most or all of an event. There is also the challenge of getting game masters and players on similar wavelengths of what it takes to provide an engaging science focus role playing experience, while keeping the event moving at a natural pace for everyone else.
Trek writers have ranged wide in quality and have set an unhealthy expectation that the "cast" can explain and overcome anything by being "clever" and using the techonbabbled solution of the week. Science is a process, trial and error..iteration and constant adjustment. I look for players to try to come up with ideas that involve as many other players as possible, overcoming as a team, as well as solid connections to the context of the event and our overall cumulative story. I look for players to present multiple options to attempt to overcome a problem, with no guarantee any of them will work, but with clear pros and cons to the options. I look for players to provide fun and dramatic attempts, not a "win" button. I look for players to not be afraid to simply be wrong.

Thank you for your interest in the 22nd Fleet and the Adagio. For new players, I typically restrict them to established Star Trek canon races. The backstory you presented has some interesting features, however, it does not really fit well with becoming a Star Fleet officer, who represent the best the Federation has to offer, all of them in service to a cause greater than themselves.
We as the game master team will continue to work with you to help bring some of your ideas for your character to fit better with our fleet story.

Well, considering we are in a galaxy that requires a sentient gateway to get to that the Dominion has no clue about and then the Adagio has deployed into a very remote and hostile location, I really did not have much other choice.
I will have to say that select officers and crew like the Captain and First officer have known and have kept things under wraps in case Lorat did not pass initial muster and would have just been sent back without any fuss.
On that note. Welcome to Adagio and see your for next Saturday event.

Now that we have ironed out the terms of Jem'Hadar service in our fleet story, now we just have to figure our how get you into service where Adagio is currently deployed, at the moment I am thinking your character has been onboard Adagio since her recent launch from base, and has been undergoing extensive onboard processing and training to ensure he will be able to serve on Adagio. You could also simply be a ghost observer for our next event if you feel you need the time to acclimate. Any prefer from yourself, for Lorat'Akul?

You mentioned in the chat box "... I remember enjoying the RP on here back in the day...", does this mean you were part of our fleet prior?
I have to consult the game master group as a whole on our position on Jem'Hadar serving on our role playing ships. Star Trek Online may have implemented this in its story, but we have not necessarily done so in our fleet story yet.
I will get back with you soon, after this has been discussed. Thank you for your understanding.

I do know something like this is going for $145 and is sold out due to demand
it also gives a special in game emote to players
This gives a bar where the 3d printing would have to aim for. As a collector of such items, I appreciate the effort and option, but I am more prone to get something like the Shiva statue.

The scene opens in silence with the battle over Bajor with the newly arrived H'ruq, before it quickly transitions to several outlying worlds in the galaxy, all sharing similar conflicts. The camera eventually moves to the Avernus system whisking through the system, closing quickly on the radiant blue glow of the Artesia gateway. The light's radiance grows to eventually fill the scene as if traveling through gateway itself and just as the camera is exiting the gateway music is heard playing.
Flashes of energy and pulsing streams of fire, like they were cast from the fiercest star, are launched from nearby Avynei vessels decimating distant creatures and vessels of the host of Darkness. The newly named Dawn Alliance forces are actively engaging the forces of Darkness. The camera sweeps across the system showing the allied vessels , dubbed the Golden Fleet, battling throughout the system and around the Citadel itself. Once again the scene shifts again and again it quick highlights of battles all over the known parts of the Large Magellanic Cloud galaxy. Slirian, Inyvervia, Zentrack, Akaiore, Xert Outpost world, and Yanda...each in turn.
The scene shifts to traversing the utter darkness of the Black Ocean closing on a pin drop of light in the far off distance, which grows and grows to eventually become recognizable as the Hope's Light.
On the screen Avynei text is displayed that quickly translates into Federation Basic, as the camera pans around a colossal Avynei world ship and host of vessels that surround it, their hulls shimmer like polished sapphires in the light of the massive star.
Location: Black Ocean near Hope's Light Time: 02:12 standard Assets: Battle Star Amaterasu's assault group Mission: Counter Offensive
Viewers familiar with the Avynei world ship design will immediately notice dramatic differences from the previously encountered Akaedyn'kaar, and infer the Amaterasu must be from the more martially focused Avynei. The planet sized vessel is keeping an orbit around Hope's Light as hundreds vessels constantly patrol, maintaining a secured perimeter of several light years.
Occasional sorties of dozens of ships are seen leaving in formation heading out into the darkness. The camera follow tightly behind one such sortie group as it makes it way through void. Moments later there is a flash of purple light and the vessels arrive at what appears to be a system in the middle of a battle. There are several pyramid shaped Avynei vessels in orbit around the system's star and look to be in the process of restoring it. The star itself, is a blend of yellowish-orange flames and tendrils of darkness weaving over it, casting an eerie glow in the system. Energy lances of purple and gold lash out against what could be described as energized darkness as countless battle exchanges occur. The sortie group the camera view is following quickly engages hostiles, the screen constantly flashes from energy weapon discharges, as it makes its way to formation as reinforcement behind the flagship, Sunchaser.
The camera stops following the sortie group and starts to descend through the ashen atmosphere of the planet the battle is occurring over. Light flashes below form what are countless individual battles all over the planet. As the camera continues to descend, it becoming clear their is a dark energy field it is approaching, some several hundred meters in size, a void gateway with a host of Darkness spilling out from it. The camera arrives just in time to see a colossal Travynei, hundreds of meters tall, bellowing forth an unearthly roar and discharging a fierce dark energy beam as a breath weapon, directed as a forward battle group of Avynei below. The planet rending power is seen cascading off a sapphire dome shield.
The camera dives through the dark energy and shield to witness a host of Avynei entrenched on a hill huddled under the protective dome that is being maintained by a dozen or so Avynei warriors and acolytes, strain is apparent in their features as they have linked their very essences together to project the protective barrier. The ground is shaking as the camera pans up to the hilltop where High Templar Jelal is encouraging her force to hold fast.
Her voice resonated with power and strength as it is clearly heard over the thunderous roar of the Travynei colossus, "We must give the acolytes the time they need! Hold the line!" She gritted her teeth as she glared defiantly into the destructive dark beam relentlessly hammering their defenses. Behind her on the hill, five acolytes were concentrating on a ritual that is resulting in a soft, golden light at the center of them, which was growing in intensity.
Suddenly the Avynei maintaining the shield collectively let out an agonizing scream a mere moment before their barrier gave and they were vaporized. The next line of Avynei already projected a barrier and the dark energy assault continued on them unabated. Jelal immediately jumped down from the hilltop and landed with a thud near the defensive lines. The troops made way for their commander as she strode up with barrier line and unslung her shield form her back and drew her blade. Jelal stepped forward and merged herself with those maintaining the defensive barrier, her own essence linked to theirs now. She keeled, planting her shield and blade into the ground, eyes glowing red and yelling out with determination as she cast her gaze skyward, "Give us the strength to endure!"
...to be continued...
