Part B: Role Playing Experience Questions
1.) What does the Term "IC-OOC Separation” mean to you?
Your characters know things that you may not, and vice-versa. There may be drama in-character that should not spread to OOC.
2.) What is the difference between the term Player and Character?
The player plays the game, the character exists inside the game.
3.) What is Meta-gaming?
Using knowledge unavailable to your character in order to make decisions for your character that they would not normally make.
4.) What are Action Brackets? (:: :: | - - |* *| )
These marks show an action that your character is taking, or attempting to take. Commonly termed emotes.
5.) How long have you been playing Star Trek Online?
Since launch, on and off.
6.) How long have you role played in general?
For nearly 20 years.
7.) What was your last role playing experience?
I currently roleplay part-time in Champions Online and RIFT.
8.) What are your expectations of this fleet?
A continuing story, and lots of fun. Beyond that, I don't want to know ahead of time!
9.) What will you bring to this fleet?
Lots of typos and mt's more than likely. I've also been accused of having a sense of humour by some people.
10.) How do you feel about PVP?
I can take it or leave it. Generally, I'm RP'ing a character who has at least a bit of combat training, and I have none, so I don't do it ICly.
11.) What difficulty do you typically play Star Trek Online on?
As hard as possible, though that varies per enemy group. I'm currently set on hard on my highest-level character.
12.) Do you understand that all role playing is conducted locally?
I'm not sure what this means, but if you mean no tells, no globals, I do that anyway, unless I'm whispering very quietly, or something of the sort.
13.) Do you know how to roll dice on Star Trek Online? (If so what is the command?)
I do not! But I'm sure I can do it when I'm told.
14.) Do you have experience with Star Trek Role Play?
Not in Star Trek Online. I have been both a player and a Storyteller in the pen and paper version.
15.) Do you have alts in other fleets? (If so which fleet are we sharing you with?)
I have one other character, unfleeted.
Section 02 – OOC Character Inquiry:
(All these questions are to be answered as player about the character you wish to play. It is best that you review daedalusomega.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=rphandbook before answering.)
Part A: Character Request
1.) Character name?
M'row
2.) Character gender?
Female
3.) Character race?
Caitian
4.) Is your character a telepath? (Alien telepath characters are subjected by GM approval)
No.
5.) Character class?
Engineering Officer
6.) Character STO level?
Lt. 5, but levelling.
7.) Select an fleet entry level rank. (Ensign, Jr Lieutenant, Lieutenant)
Lieutenant
8.) What is your basic character concept & history?
Natural tinkerer, heavy engineering background and schooling, had temper issues in Starfleet Academy, so assigned to a small fleet tender doing support and repair along the Romulan front. Senior crew incapacitated during firefight; M'row took the ship back into action to pull another starship out of the combat zone. Was both reprimanded and commended for her actions. Given temporary command of the ship until senior crew could be returned to duty, later given permanent command. Reassigned to Klingon front. Currently without a ship as the ship has once again suffered massive damage while trying to repair a cruiser.
9.) What kind of commission does your character have? (Enlisted, Petty Officer, or Officer)
Officer.
10.) Desired ship type of ship you'll be wish to be assigned too? (Tactical, Science, or Cruiser).
U.S.S. Independence.
11.) Please give a little background about this character.
12.) Please describe what Merit System is.
Merits are accumulated through good conduct and/or outstanding behaviour; demerits can be given for negative behaviour, although a simple failure would not normally earn such.
13.) Has this character been enrolled in a fleet prior?
No.
14.) What are your aspirations for this character? Casual RP (I am just here to RP) or Competitive (I want to be an Admiral some day!)
I enjoy RP for RP's sake, although the character certainly wouldn't be averse to gaining a higher rank.
15.) What are strengths, weakness, and flaws in this character’s personality?
Strengths: Self-reliance, self-assuredness.
Weaknesses: Short Temper, Impatience.
Section 03 – IC Character’s Personnel Recorded:
(This section must be filled out and will serve as your official personnel Starfleet Record for this character as you play in our fleet. This is the section where you can become creative and illustrate to us the character you want to play in our RP Community. Be as detailed as you can with the character's past service. BE ADVISED: In-Characterly, Fleet Command has access to all your character's files... nothing is **Classified** to them.)
59458.19: Born in the southern province of Ran'Wari. Parents are a groundcar mechanic and a nurse.
59774.96: Runs away from home, although it is later found that she had 'fixed' the navigation system for a car, and had been driven away when she could not determine how to deactivate it. This type of try-as-you-go approach would come to be her modus operandi.
74522.29: Applies to Starfleet Academy but is not accepted. Instead pursues a degree at Daystrom Technical Institute in the Engineering program.
75698.97: Is nearly expelled after she assaults a professor who endangered her life with an experimental shield system.
77820.71: Graduated Daystrom Technical Institute, 2nd in class.
78195.3: Re-applies to Starfleet Academy and is accepted, majors in Engineering and Computer Programming.
80485.69: Is hospitalised for 2 weeks after an explosion in an engineering lab, earning her a reprimand for reckless behaviour. It is still unclear exactly what experiment she was attempting to perform as she has no memory of the explosion or of even being in the lab.
80523.3: Is reprimanded for assaulting a fellow student, Hugh Kirnan. He declines to press charges, and is shortly thereafter expelled in an unrelated incident.
82514.41: Graduated Starfleet Academy, however the reprimands on her record did not reflect well, and she is given a post on the U.S.S. Imhotep, a fleet tender, rather than her requested assignment of the U.S.S. Hood.
84925.48: The Imhotep suffers severe damage when one of U.S.S. Victoria's nacelles explodes while emergency repairs are underway during a battle in the Lliiar system. All senior staff other than the second officer are incapacitated. The second officer attempts to remove the ship from the battlespace and await repairs. M'row relieves him of duty and assumes command of the Imhotep, decoupling the ventral welding phasers to turn them inward to make stop-gap repairs, and then returns the tender to the battlespace, towing the Victoria to safety where repairs can be made.
84960.67: At her court martial she is exonerated, with both a reprimand for recklessness, and a commendation for saving the Victoria. Both the captains of the Victoria and the commanding officer of the Imhotep, Lt. Commander Julie Vargas, testify on her behalf. She is given temporary command of the ship until Lt. Cdr. Vargas is fit to return to duty.
85081.35: Given permanent command of the Imhotep when the former CO is re-assigned to the U.S.S. Calypso. Assigned to Klingon Front to assist fleet combat operations. From Stardate <> to present, the Imhotep has been involved in 27 major fleet operations, and 34 other skirmishes in her role as a repair and resupply tender.
87058.27: The Imhotep is severely crippled while attempting to repair the U.S.S. Drake. A volley from a Klingon bird-of-prey completely destroys one nacelle and ruptures the hull in 7 places, causing the loss of 21 crewmen, nearly half the number assigned to the ship. The survivors are rescued and taken to Starbase K7.
