[Log Begins]
Lonah is moving around her quarters, finishing unpacking. Her dress uniform tunic hanging from the chair. She begins speaking as she removes things from a container.
Seems I have accumulated quite a few things again. I suppose I will have to organize what I want to keep and send the rest to my residence on earth. One day, I’m going to have to go there and make it into a suitable habitat as opposed to being a glorified storage warehouse. Actually laying on eyes on it will be better than looking at pictures.
Lonah pauses as a thought occurs to her.
Note to self; after the subsequent attacks on Earth, make sure your house is still in one piece.
Lonah picks up the box and drops it next to her desk. She has a sheathed d'k tahg which she looks at it fondly She unsheathes the weapon and looks it over as she speaks.
Probably the reason I never went to that house because I feared I might get comfortable there. My life work is to be a great warrior and Starfleet had afforded me that honor to prove myself and hopefully, to my people. I do not exactly live a comfortable life. I travel on starships in order to go from one conflict to the next. I have little time to get comfortable there before planet fall and the next mission. That was my life for two decades. One conflict to the next, with training in between.
Coming to the Lady A made my concern come true. This is a comfortable ship, something I fear could make me grow weak and indulgent. That my dream would wither on the vine before I ever saw it bloom. I can’t blame ship designers for wanting to make space travel comfortable. Space can be a difficult experience even for the most hardy of stellar travelers. It seems to have worked for the Federation for centuries now, even through the most difficult of times. Perhaps Klingon ship designers could take notes. Maybe, I have to admit, I'm just a little spoiled.
Lonah chuckles.
I don't think I have much to worry though. I have met the Captain of the Adagio and discovered she was previously Omega Force herself; with the three-thirteenth. A highly decorated team, dependable and honorable. It’s no surprise I haven’t met her till now. There were so many of us back then when it all started. Plus my exploits tend to have me separated, a mustang, from other teams. I am happy to say that running with the teams seems to have done well for her career. I am glad that one of us is being recognized for their work. Plus this is a nice ship to be captain of.
Lonah frowns staring into the dagger. Then she shrugs off the melancholy and continues.
So I met the Captain and she offered me off the bat a chance to re-certify into the Delta teams; the new the special operations that all others are being phased into. I have to admit, the urge to head butt her right there was strong. Lucky, for both of us, we are on a diplomatic mission and I do not how the Avynei would take to a junior officer thanking her Captain by assaulting her. That night I met the head of security, a Vulcan, and several others I’ll be working with. I also had the opportunity to meet members of Delta and so far, I like what I see. I hope my evaluation goes well under Lieutenant Sevuk.
He seems much like any other Vulcan I have worked with. Steadfast and logical; he’s going to irritate me to no end, of course. I must confess I gave into teasing him a little bit. I suppose I have my companions to blame for that, but I had a good time. I feel our diplomatic mission is of great importance here. The crew has history with the Avynei and I attend to do my part to honor their previous efforts.
Lonah nods her head.
I noticed our XO is a, no, was formerly assimilated. I think my feelings towards her are, gladness. A positive result of the hard work that Omega Force did for Starfleet. It is good that she is able to continue to serve despite the traumatic experiences she suffered. I will give her the respect she's earned as XO. Besides, if the Captain trusts her, then I can have no arguments to the contrary.
I’ll end it here. I suspect I will be receiving ship warming party from a person known as the Harpy. The locale greeter of all newbies. I suspect she has something clever in mind for me; else I will be disappointed.
Lonah sheaths the dk' tagh.
Good night mother…
