OOC Note: This thread is meant as a general IC RP thread for any and all rp happening in and around the fleet dilithium mine. If anyone has anything they feel is appropriate to this thread they are free to post it. It isn't required, but the offer is there. It had been a rather lengthy trip for both Billie Jo and K'Rika. The first leg involved passage on board a Freighter bound for Deep Space Nine. After a brief layover there the two of them were loaded on board a runabout headed for the Vlugta asteroid belt. The small craft was loaded with replacement crew and parts and supplies bound for the fleet's dilithium mining and processing station there. From what Billie Jo was able to determine from her research the fleet's facility was a section of the asteroid belt leased to the Federation from the Vlugta government. It also stated that in addition to Federation personnel, a lot of the mining work was contracted out to Reman laborers. To say the least this should be a most interesting assignment.
K'Rika had dozed off to sleep a half an hour ago and was now resting comfortably on Billie Jo's shoulder. Billie Jo did her best to try not to disturb her, by moving as little as possible. So she simply sat there browsing the internet on the PADD she had with her. This mostly meant she was looking up information on what would be her new home and dilithium mining operations in general. From what she had been learning she was glad she was going to a Federation run facility and not a Klingon run mine. She at least had that going for her.
The small craft's co-pilot walked into the passenger area, “We are making our final approach to the mining station. Please remain seated until the craft comes to a complete stop. You will have plenty of time to collect your belongings after we land.” he stated in a rather unenthusiastic tone, then promptly turned and headed back to the cockpit.
Billie Jo gently nudged K'Rika, “Wake up kiddo, we're almost there.”

Joe McDougal let out a raucous burp as he flopped down onto a cot. He rubbed his right arm -- clearly he did something to mess it up the other day. His only cure was booze -- hardcore booze. He hit the bottle like it owed him money, and this surely contributed to his pungent body odor. Well, that, and he rarely showered. He didn't like to shower while hung over, and that was pretty much every morning. But he had hope, because he heard that the new doctor would be a lady, and he hadn't seen a lady in some time. A real lady, at least... not the jacked female miners who had bigger muscles than he did. No, he wanted to make this doctor his special lady. He somehow managed to slur the words "special lady" before completely passing out.

K'Rika sat up slowly and shook the sleep from her unblinking eyes. She turned her obsidian orbs to smile at her guardian and quipped playfully.
"Here here??" she snickered "or like here...'a smaller, dirtier ship that can get us closer' here?"
She listened to the small flight crew's banter as they approached and shook her head looking impishly at Billie Jo...
"Well here we go...I hope this is not too embarrassing...with a marching band all those paparazz,i I mean I just woke and i so have sleep hair...and You. You have to have your nails redone..."
She smiles at Billie Jo..."Our fans will see and note these flaws..."
"The colonial governor will probably want you to have the key to the colony...men throwing themselves at our feet....Oh! do you think we will totally get discounts at the ALL shops in their luxurious mall??"
She hugged Billie Jo and happily giggled as her whip like pointed tail swished thumping on the empty seat cushion next to her as the small craft moved into to dock at the mine.

Location: 22nd Fleet Dilithium mining and Processing Facility. Stardate: 93867.21
Billie Jo leaned back in her desk chair and exhaled slowly. She thought back about when she was first informed about her reassignment to the fleet dilithium facility. At the time it had felt like her world was crashing down around her. In hindsight, she was beginning to feel like they may have done her a huge favor. It had taken a couple of weeks to really settle in, but once she had she began to realize that the assignment wasn't so bad. Compared to a posting like the Sentinel this place was rather boring. Serious accidents were not that common, the facility had a pretty good safety record. So beyond the maintenance of the health of the staff and their families, there was little to do. Of course, she had already delivered a baby in the short time she was here. That was one thing she was likely to see more of with a much larger civilian population to tend to.
Her staff and medical facilities were small but fairly modern. In the event of any major casualty situation, they would likely need assistance. But then again the 22nd fleet kept a fairly constant presence in this sector due to the strategic significance of the dilithium mine. So help would not typically be far off.
Even K'Rika seemed to be adjusting to their new home quite well. Which she still maintained contact with old friends, she was apparently making new ones here. Billie Jo was glad she was doing well. That had been one of her biggest concerns when coming here. In spite of a rather limited selection of things for the young ones to do here at the facility, she seemed rather content.

K'Rika sanced softly to the wonderful music she had found, her lithe alien form glided over the carpet of the common area ,she and Billie Jo had made use of as a living room. She had found the base to be cramped but yet interesting and different to explore. She was pleased to discover though some reacted to fear at her appearance the children she saw at the small school and several of those her age had found her to be a neat and unique distraction.
She sotly swirled around the carpet as she thought of her teacher's offer that if Billie Jo approved of, would allow K'Rika help her teach the younger students of the school since they seemed so taken with the strangeness of the alien teenager. K'Rika was soo pleased to be asked and could not wait to tell her guardian the news. She was so eager she never questioned where the strange lvoely song had come from.
She was just glad Billie Jo had left it on for her to find when she came home from school. She was dancing softly to it as Billie Jo entered their quarters for dinner..
She kept up her playful little 'waltz' as the doctor entered to see her dance and listen to the song filling their quarters...
"Welcome Home Billie Jo!" She smiled. "Come dance with me, this is such a lovely song!"

Billie Jo stifled a yawn as she made her way down the now quiet corridors of the habitation section of the fleet dilithium facility. It had been another particularly uneventful shift in the medical ward. Which she was finding out that that was par for the course for this posting. Her work here certainly wasn't what she might call exciting. But, then again she was not the type that craved excitement and she found boring to be a refreshing change of pace. She could not help it but smile as she wandered down the hallway contemplating a nice hot shower and a piping hot cup of herbal tea to relax.
Billie Jo paused outside her quarters as she keyed in the access code. The door slides open and she quickly stepped inside. She was immediately stunned silent by the sound of a frighteningly familiar tune playing over the speakers in the room. Billie Jo's face turned almost ashen in color and she felt an icy chill run down her spine. Her eyes fixed on K'Rika who was playfully dancing in the middle of the room.
"Welcome Home Billie Jo!" She smiled. "Come dance with me, this is such a lovely song!"
“Why are you playing this music K'Rika?” She replied, her voice edged with tension.

K'Rika slowed her dance and her smile slipped some. She could sense the tension in her guardian's voice. She pointed a taloned finger over to the main console on the doctor's desk.
"You left it on 'play' I thought....it was on the main screen when I got home from school..."
She stopped dancing and inquired timidly, wondering if she was in trouble for doing something she shouldnt have.
"Its a lovely song...."

Billie Jo's glanced quickly toward the music player. She could feel a sickening wave of fear welling up from the pit of her stomach. This could only mean one thing. Someone had been in here. But, who and why? Was it Mister Diamond? Billie Jo took a few deep breaths trying to calm herself before slipping into a full-blown panic. She knew all too well that it would do her no good, and besides she didn't want to scare K'Rika.
Billie Jo smiled thinly, she tried to hide her inner sense of dread. But, she was pretty sure she was not doing a very good job of it. “Don't worry you are not in any trouble. It is just you surprised me with this song. It brings back some unpleasant memories.” she explained trying to sound calm.

K'Rika smiled tentatively, her tail swishing softly behind her as she wrung her hands a little as she watched her guardian. She could easily sense the tension in Billie Jo, normally she avoided prying into the thoughts of her guardian, but the worry was hard to avoid.
Her tail drooped and her shoulders slumped and she nodded.
"I am sorry Billie Jo, I did not know you do not like this song." She smiled hopefully.
"We should file it away and close the player and then just have supper!" she smiled. "We can cook it together and forget all about the bad song!"

Billie Jo glances hesitantly again toward the music player, before turning toward K'Rika with a reassuring smile. “No, I am the one who should be sorry. You looked like you were having a lot of fun. I am sorry I ruined that.”
Billie Jo stripped off her uniform jacket as she headed toward the replicator to order a cup of herbal tea. “But, you are right supper sounds like a good idea,” she stated, sounding quite a bit more upbeat. “I am going to change out of this uniform and we can get started.” she continued speaking as she made her way to her bedroom.
She moved directly toward the bureau and slide one of the drawers open. She exhaled sharply as she extracted a pair of blue jeans. It would seem that no matter where she went she wasn't going to escape her past. Assuming that was what this was about, as she really did not know. She had no idea who this was or what they wanted. All she knew is she was that she and K'Rika were on their own out here. But, that may just have been the point fo this transfer all along.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the fleet dilithium facility...
Morgan Hale scanned the area looking for trouble, before glaring at the security guard at the checkpoint. It was a look meant to convey irritation, but it was just an act. The guard looked uncomfortable, which was exactly the intended result. The identity scanner was taking an unusual amount of time. Morgan had no idea if the machine was just glitching or if his new identity wasn't going to clear. He started running through the option he had if the damn machine came back with his real identity instead of the new one that Liz's project Avalon people had set up for him. There were not a lot of options, and no good ones, in such a situation.
The guard gave the machine a smack, “Stupid machine.” He looked at the Morgan apologetically. “I'm sorry about this mister Hauser.”
Morgan maintained his annoyed look, “Is this going to take a while? I am in something of a hurry.”
Before the guard could respond the machine finally came up with a result for the biometric scan result. It displayed the personal data for a Michael Hauser, complete with Morgan Hale's picture. The guard looked at Morgan and smiled politely.
“Welcome to the Vlugta belt dilithium mining facility Mister Hauser.” He stated in a rote manner as he waved Morgan through. As an afterthought, the man added, “Enjoy your stay.”
Morgan quickly moved on. Given his legal status as a wanted fugitive, he was already taking a huge risk coming here. He didn't want to loiter in any public areas where someone might recognize him. The fact that Billie Jo was stationed here meant that it was a natural choice for Starfleet security to monitor. He just hoped that his new identity and his talent for hiding in plain sight would be enough to keep him from being detected. At least until he finished his mission and could leave.

Joe McDougal stumbled into sickbay, his face smeared with dirt... or maybe it was a type of oil. Upon closer inspection, it would seem that even the pores of his skin were subtly caked with some kind of grime, giving him a slight sheen.
He looked around for the doctor, mumbling something that sounded like "Marm. Marm. Marm." If you really thought about it, you'd realize that he was saying "My arm." He cradled his right arm close to his chest.

Billie Jo took a long sip from her mug of morning coffee as she stood silently in front of the view screen. The screen was filled with a mix of images from various news networks as well as her own personal messages. Behind her, in the dining area, K'Rika was dividing her attention between her bowl of some chocolate flavored and sweetened processed grain food and a PADD that was laying next to her bowl on the table. Billie Jo was skeptical of the nutritional value of what K'Rika chose to call breakfast, but it was mixed with milk so she figured it couldn't be all bad.
As was their new routine, the two women would slowly finish their breakfast and then rush to get dressed so they would not end up being late to work or school. It wasn't the most efficient use of time but it worked for them so they saw no point in changing things. In spite of what they wanted, things were going to change. They were going to change abruptly.
Billie Jo looked up from her coffee at the sound of the front door chiming, “Who the heck is that? At this hour?” she asked as she headed toward the front door.
Billie Jo pressed the button to activate the small view screen on the door panel. She blinked several times, not really believing what her eyes were telling her. Standing outside her door was Morgan Hale. He was looking both ways up and down the corridor. Starfleet security had contacted her and told her about his escape. They told her to contact them if she ever heard from him. But, she never thought that he would actually try to get a hold of her. She thought he was smarter than that. She quickly opened the door. Before she could say a word Morgan pushed his way into the room and quickly pressed the door panel and the front door slide shut behind him.
Billie Jo's facial expression was a mix of both surprise and annoyance, “What are you doing here?”
Morgan grabbed her by the shoulders, “I don't have time to explain. You and K'Rika need to come with me. You are both in danger here.”
Billie Jo took a step back, “You are going to have to make time. You can't just show up out of the blue and expect us to run off with you without some explanation.”
Morgan exhaled sharply, “Billie it is only a matter of time before Chorus makes his way here looking for the two of you. You need to not be here when he does.”
The name hit her like a slap in the face, “Chorus.” she said the name, her tone was almost a whisper.
Morgan stepped forward and grabbed her hand, “Yes and we need to get you two out of her and somewhere safe.”
Billie Jo shook her head, “There is nowhere safe. I need to talk to him, to Joshua.”
Morgan gave her a stern look, “Billie there is talking to him now.”
Billie Jo looked back at him with a desperate look in her eyes, “But, I have to at least try.”
Morgan shook his head, “I get it, I really do. But, are you willing to risk her life as well?” He asked nodding toward K'Rika, who was still sitting at the table.
