[Open to all Adagio players in the aftermath of the Season 11 Finale from his Saturday - Kitty]
Her powerful legs pumped as she ran deeper and deeper into the shadows. She could hear them all around her, feel thier cold breath run along her neck. Breath so cold and dark it felt like the ice cold breeze emanating from deeply within a slaughterhouse. Her heart pounded in her chest as her eyes fought through the obsidian hyperborean mists wisping around her as she ran. The landscape barely visible as she called out desperately now...
"Xae!"
She was close, and in danger. He was here, she could feel him too. She was in danger! A deep anger rose from within her heart now fueled y the frustration as each time she changed course in the stygian mists she was yet again attacked by the almost unseen crustacean hybrid beings. Each of the fiery death blows she landed illuminated the landscape just a little more. Each of the ruby like detonations coming from her bracers evolved into a bigger and larger impact as her frustration and anxiety grew. She was in danger and she had to reach her...
"Xae..where are YOU?"
She could hear her call out as she stopped to square off against the largest so far of the beings she had been burning through, that she had pushed herself to the limit to get through. Each moment of her battle played out only darker more obscured now by the shadowy mists. Her lungs burned in agony of the limits she pushed herself to. Her throat was raw as her fists landed again and again her gifts granting the ability to enhance her fighting, use her deepest emotions to battle this monster before her unlike she had ever been able to do before.
"Xae!"
She drove all of her might into the final blow that disintegrated the powerful being and left it to be dust blowing in the wind around her boots. She looked around in desperation as she could now hear Xaelei fighting him...engaged in a battle to the death, she knew she was close. She could feel the unbelievable depth of Xae's attackers power...his rage...the depths of his hatred. She was close but could not see either of them, each moment of the pain she felt from Xae tore at her heart as she stood there in the whirlwind of darkness. She called out with all of her might...
"Xae...where are YOU??"
As she spoke She finally hurt a sound, a sound that struck her greatest fear...a cry of pure pain. The marble black dust seemed to part, a taunting oval opened for her to see Xae slammed into the crumbling wall of the ruined ancient temple. Her battered form suddenly pierced by a sword, a ancient exquisite blade held by something that looked like a man in one moment and within the blink of an eye something out of her darkest nightmares. A swirling yet ordered mass of darkness, as black as the deepest abyss in existence. The only consistency was was the pair of burning red hot coals, the two unblinking eyes of infinite fire...
She stood there frozen for only a heartbeat until that sound reached her ears. The fitful cry that escaped Xae's lips, she never heard or could understand what Xae had been trying to say as the rage within her turned into her people's whitest hot rage. All of the violence of her race's deep well of emotions exploded from within her. Her form was powered by the choker around her neck and channeled to the dark mirrors of her recent gifts illuminating the three of them with the intensity of a star. She could see nothing now but that burning as gaze as it smugly turned its attention to her...
"GET AWAY FROM HER YOU BASTARD!"
With that she threw herself at those eyes, fully intent on unleashing everything she had on him, to obliterate him as she had each one of his cowardly minions to explode through him and scatter his dark ashes into the winds that swept over this ruined world. It was the singles best play of her entire life, coiled ligaments and muscles exploded with the sheer depth of drive and determination of her heart. She had moved within the blink of an eye, a comet of destruction fueled rage.
She never made it...she felt the cold slice that ripped not only into her body but straight through her soul. Her mind and heart shrieked deeply from within and overwhelmed her even before her body every reached the ground she felt herself begin to slip away. A sick growing feeling of warm erupted from her one arm...as an icy chill embraced her body. The sheer shock of the speed of the attack and her wounds washed her deeper into the tide of never ending darkness. She could feel the cool ancient rock as she lay there now in the swirling dusts of the forgotten dead world. She lifted her head with all the strength she had to look for Xae. To the place she had been pinned to the wall...
She was gone...
Her heart sank as the dark figure of her attacker loomed over her. His burning eyes fixed on her crumbled discarded body as the chill she felt began to spread swiftly all through her ruined body. He had her now...she was a warrior and knew this, he even paused to smugly taunt her with those fiery eyes one final time before he finished her off. She allowed herself on small moment of victory before the final blow, she had given Xae her chance to ...run.
"Xae..."
She fell then into the abyss embraced finally by the swirling whirlwind of the shadows she had been battling all this time. For a moment she thought she felt a touch, a soft gentle one...a familiar whispered voice through the eternal night as she fell..and then nothing...
