The glow of the transporter beam cast an eeiry glow across the dimly lit corridor of the Klingon cruiser. After a moment the figure of a young Starfleet Trill took form. After materialization Ezri looked about cautiously. Ezri wrinkled her nose, the place smelled like sweaty Targ. Ezri shook off the distraction and focused her mind on the coming battle. She pulled the Bat’leth from its sheath on her back and readied the bladed weapon for action as began to creep her way down the corridor.
Ezri moved quickly through the shadows. She noted how her boots were very quiet and actually remarkably comfortable. The sound of gruff Klingon voices stopped her in her tracks. They were coming from just around the corner.
“What in the hell is going on? What is with the alert?” the first Klingon growled.
“I heard that devil Qahom seeks to kill general Krinn!” the second stated.
The first Klingon scoffed, “I am not concerned. Qahom is over rated, her moQbara is weak. I hope to face her in battle some day.”
With that Ezri stepped around the corner, “That day is today targ licker..” she announced boldly.
The Klingon warrior’s eye grew wide, like deer caught in oncoming headlamps, as they watched the Trill charging them with blade raised over head. Ezri buried the blade deep into the chest of the first Klingon. The other one offered her a look of terror as she pivoted to face him. The warrior drew his knife and took a few useless stabs toward Ezri before she cut him down as well. As the warrior fell to the deck he struggled to speak.
Ezri knelt beside the Klingon to better hear his dying words. “...thank you for granting me an honorable death noble warrior.” the Klingon managed to say before he expired.
“You are welcome..” Ezri replied before climbing to her feet and continuing on down the corridor.
As she neared the general’s cabin she noted the guard targs outside the door. Ezri reached into her pocket and pulled out some jerky treats. As she approached the targs started growling. She tossed them the treats. The targs cautiously sniffed at the treats before they greedily grabbed at them. After that the targs were too busy to care about Ezri any more. Ezri grinned in smug satisfaction as she reached for the door actuator. She froze as she hear the gruff Klingon voice behind her.
“Qahom, why do you slink around in the dark like some Romulan petaQ?” the voice bellowed, “face me so I can send you to Gre'thor where you belong.”
Ezri turned toward the voice, bringing her blade to the ready. “Wow. That was just rude general..”
“You have had this coming for a long time Qahom. Did you imagine you would catch me sleeping? Kill me in my sleep?” General Krinn stated, with a smirk on his face.
“No.” Ezri replied, sounding quite offended. Even though that was actually her plan.
“Good. Because that would have been quite dishonorable.” Krinn stated coldly.
“I know right? I mean who does that? Some dishonorable targ.” Ezri replied.
Ezri raised her blade and charged at the huge Klingon. As she swung the blade the general’s blade was there to meet her’s. The two swords met with a loud clang. Ezri stepped back and raised her weapon trying to distract the general with a quick flourish. He was not fooled, so once more Ezri tried a direct attack and once again the general blocked her weapon.
“You are really good at this general.” she stated.
“and you Qahom, your moQbara is weak…” the general replied.
Ezri pouted, “It is not, take that back!” she shouted.
The general laughed, “...make me..”
Ezri angrily launched into a spinning attack. The general swung his blade toward hers. Ezri anticipated the impact against her weapon. But, in never came. At the last moment the Klingon side stepped the attack and brought his weapon down into Ezri’s flank delivering the fatal blow.
The holodeck program froze at that point, “Mission: Assassinate General Krinn...failed.” the computer voice stated without emotion.
Ezri growled in frustration. “Why is this game so hard?” she cried.
Ezri sounded defeated when she spoke, “Computer end program…”
The Klingon ship interior faded back into the dull holodeck grid and turned and headed toward the exit…
