The La Fayette has a double hull made of a neutronium alloy. Giving it a high degree of protection. memory-alpha.org/wiki/Neutronium I wonder would that count as an unidentified substance or simply as a mineral? Neutronium is extremely rare and is impervious to all known weapons... so having a neutronium hull is a little too far fetched for my taste. ... also, by being composed of extremely dense molicules. its mass is far greater tper ounce then a standard hull... making moving the ship far more difficult requiring more energy and impulse power for manuverability

Ok...its been 11 days and eventhough i didnt get the turnout i was hoping for, we still got a good showing with a great group together.
Some have already given suggestions and ideas, but im not making them official until we all get together IC and ingame. So im going to setup a RP event in the Fleet Window for all of those participating to get together and plan this this thing out in a RP setting. you can show up as an official alt, or as one of your BOs and your whole ship will get credit for the help.
Meeting time: Thurday June 24th at 8:00pm Eastern Standard Time.
This will be the first meeting for the Planning phase. after that meeting all those participating will be given a job and will post in the construction thread. If you are going to miss the meeting, not a problem, just PM me on the forums or hit me upingame and we'll get you a job.

These STO missions are not particularly conducive to role playing, especially the space based ones. Its hard to role play and engage in combat at the same time. In real combat we would have the benefit of hands free voice communications. Of course hands free voice communications might be bad for role playing. And it is important bear in mind that no one here is actually a Starfleet captain and I don't know about you but I never went to Starfleet academy and I never received any training. I think a few people in fleet might have military experience, but not me. Yeah many a times the chain of command broke down and things became chaotic and disorganized. Guess what that is in reality what happens when you send untrained people into combat. I realize it wasn't real combat, but it was confusing and very fast paced so it seem to me like it would be a reasonable role playing facsimile. Now I would really like to know how this holodeck program idea of Xeoni's is going to magically make us all better role-players. Is there some magical formula that doesn't require practice and us learning from our mistakes? Point being is yeah we need lots of practice and I suspect we need to work on some really basic stuff. Hell can we even fly in formation? We need to Learn to work as a team and develop team tactics and drill on those tactics till we get good at them. We also need to develop our team leaders. I guess there are a lot of things but if we are going to role play Starfleet officers we should be able to walk the walk not just talk the talk. Now I don't mind a little constructive criticism, but so far I'm not seeing any. Fact is unless we want to do all of our role playing on someone bridge or at Quark's bar we are going to have to learn how to incorporate more of the games content into our role playing. This wont be easy and our initial attempts are going to be clumsy. If you are not interested in that its not a problem I for one wont force you to do anything you don't want to. I agree we need more practice working as a team. We also need to set some basic ground rules down for ingame mission combat RP. Everyone needs to be on the same page when RP begins. We need to make sure everyone knows whos incharge, and differ to them in all IC interactions during said mission. Im also sure most of us have watched the shows and movies. You KNOW how a starship Captain would act, how the crew should act, and how to make a fair approximation of how a Starfleet Officer should act. we've seen Officers at their worst and their best. It doesnt take much to take what we've all seen and apply it to our characters. Starfleet General Order 17 states: The commanding officers of Starfleet vessel and installations are to consider the lives of their crew members and/or civilian population as sacred. In any potentially hostile situation, the captain will place the lives of his crew above the fate of his ship. Starfleet General Order 29: The primary responsibility of the commander of any Starfleet vessel or installation is the welfare and safety of his crew, including any civilian members. No action may be taken that creates an unwarranted threat to the safety of those individuals under the officer's charge, except in the line of duty and when otherwise unavoidable. This is a concurrent order with General Order 17. Regulation 191 (Article 14): In a combat situation involving more than one ship, command falls to the vessel with tactical superiority, should there not be a higher ranking officer present.

Xoeni,
I like your spur-of-the-moment RP sometimes. I really had fun RPing that fight your alt had with Joy, wern, and me. And if you had fun keep doing it. Just make sure OOCly that everyone wants to do it with you before you start. I was kinda forced that time to stay online alot longer then i had intended just to keep the story going. If you had asked me before the fight, i would have excused myself and RPed with you the next day or something.
But dont let anyone, and i mean anyone, stop you from RPing the way you want. Obviously your still a member and havent been kicked out, so your style isnt that disruptive to the fleet. All i think that needs to be done is to ask members before if they want to RP. that will guarantee there wont be any problems.
Im game for Holodeck sims any time, buddy.
;D

Captain Martins,
As a Captain in the this Fleet, you have the power to set the standard of RP in any mission you partake in. If all players agree to RP before the mission begins, all must adhere to IC interations and talk. All OOC talk must be kept to a minimum during the mission to help keep the "feel" of the RP active. If the mission paticipents start to deviate from that, its your job to set them back on track. if that fail and they dont listen, you have several options... You can report them to Command. (they will be warned or possibly repremanded for disobeying a superior)
You can Postpone the mission briefly and request a DGM to moderate the mission.
You can cancel the mission all together and resume it at a later time when everyone is willing to do it right.
The key though is to make sure everyone involved agrees to RP at the beginning. If some dont want to RP, then its your choice as Captain to decide if you want to RP or just run the mission OOCly. Or you can ask those who dont want to RP to not join in at this time. it's up to you.

Im currently making a ship's Master systems Display for the new Indy. I have to do it from scratch since the Star Cruisers are not canon. so far, so good. its alot of fun When im done i'll post it here. though, already im going to have to change up the current design specs a bit. 41 decks is too tall for her. she'll be 25 decks. after i make it all be able to update the deck layout. Stay Tuned!

Joy's proposal, however, would be an anti-infiltration system involving what she calls "The Labyrinth Protocol". Basically Randomly activating and deactivating force fields that turn the inside of a ship into a Maze. I really like that! Also keep in mind that Holo-emitters are standard issue now on all decks of a starship. This can be used aswell to make false hallways and corridors.
